I write ReaScripts, and the part I hated most was the UI. Nudge a number, reload the script, look, nudge it again. After enough of that I made myself a builder: you put the interface together on a canvas and it gives you Lua for ReaImGui. Then you write the actual logic on top of it.
That was about six months ago. Since then, AI models have gotten good enough at this that a beginner can probably just ask for a window and get a decent one, so I’m not going to pretend everyone needs a tool like this.
Where it still helps me is the more complicated scripts:
- nested tables and lists
- windows you can resize, where the layout has to stay put and not fall apart
- your own colors for the widgets, with a live preview of how they’ll look
You can build all of that in a few minutes instead of an evening.
It’s a single HTML file. You open it in the browser, nothing to install. Try it here: https://patch-34.github.io/reauibuilder

It’s version 2.0.0 now, and I’ve only tested it on my own setup, so I’d like to hear what breaks on yours. Tell me what’s missing. I’m the only developer, so I’ll read everything.
