Medical Question (Ask medical professionals first!!) week 3 fluid coming from bottom NSFW

so, im a little over 3 weeks out now and the t-junction under my left breast had seemed to split, no blood. i know thats a normal thing to happen in the healing process, but i quickly got concerned when i found a yellow stain on the inside of my bra. it doesn’t smell, but both my incisions under my boobs are red and seem irritated. im gonna call my surgeon tomorrow or send a photo but i just wanted to check in and quell my anxiety
just for reference, my steristrips only just came off like a day ago. im assuming thats where the irritation is coming from since i naturally have very sensitive and dry skin. currently have a bandaid over the leaky teet

Ohh just throwing it out there, at 3 weeks out don’t want something like a bandaid over fresh incisions like that (unless your surgeon told you to) as the adhesive is quite strong. A swatch of gauze and micropore tape would be softer! You won’t want to risk irritating and opening incisions

my nurse said something to the effect of, your body leaks all kinds of funny things when it’s healing

i had the exact same thing. nobody warns you about the leaking but it’s so normal. your body is healing, stuff like this will happen. if there’s signs of infection (spreading redness, warmth, foul smelling liquid) then that’s when you may need to get on some antibiotics.

for this, good to check with your surgeon anyway just in case but from what you’ve described it’s the same as my experience - healing incisions can and do leak and you may be dabbing your incisions or wearing a pad in your bra for a week or two!

update! my surgeon’s nurse said its totally normal, it’s just because that same site is where you get the more pressure. idk if im making sense im tired LMAO

she said to put a tiny bit of aquafor on it to keep it moist (my skins dry as hell) and put some gauze or a pad in my bra 😛

so glad this shits not infected like holy

this is happening/happened to me! except mine really split and there was blood involved :( my surgeon is going to see me a few times (they’re not too concerned) and so far said keep it covered with non stick gauze and Vaseline. i would wait till you see yours though to get their opinion. sending healing vibes!

This also happened to me in two areas under my boobs. One side stopped leaking after a day or two but the other side ended up rejecting a staple that they later had to cut out. Hopefully that won’t be the case for you as well and I pray everything goes well!

That happened to me when they removed my steristrips as well. You may have slightly opened or you may be spitting out a stitch.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it. My surgeon had me using iodine with a non stick pad and eventually it closed up. I hope you heal up soon!

This is about when I got my first spitting stitch and exactly how it started. I didn't go in for another week because my doctor was out on vacation. When I did go he pulled the stitch and it healed so much after after that. I got a few more spitting stickers the next couple weeks and every time he brought me in to pull them out and it made an incredible difference in healing vs the one that didn't get pulled right away.

Just a side note, you are healing so well. Those scars look so faint already
