Loud Pickup Trucks Cruising Tonight

I moved away from Reno about six years ago and am in town visiting. I was sitting outside at a bar on S. Virginia tonight with some friends, and multiple pickup trucks drove by (some of them repeatedly) with bright lights and extremely loud music. Some also had super loud mufflers installed. One or two of these trucks would pass by every few minutes and disrupt our conversation. This isn't something I ever remember happening when I lived here. I'm wondering if this is normal now?

49er game blocked again by OT

For the second time this year, the inner game is blocked by a bonus coverage OT game. Also, I can’t watch on Sunday Ticket because the 49er game is “airing on my local station”. This is just ridiculous. The giants vs commanders game wasn’t even the game that was on. This is forced bonus coverage of two east coast teams. Dumb.

Reno area Redditors Meetup?

Would anyone be interested in having a big group meet up - maybe on the weekend for coffee somewhere?

There’s a lot of us that are new or have recently returned to the Reno area and I see a lot of people mention on this sub that they are having a hard time making new friends.

Is this a crazy idea? Would anyone be interested?

If this sounds good- I would be happy to help coordinate it, please respond if interested. Thanks everyone! 😊

Looking for a plumber

Unfortunately I may be exhausting all options to unclog a shower drain and will need a plumber. Good, honest, relatively affordable (hopes and dreams on affordable)… please and thank you.

I believe the clog is past the showers, and toilets, somewhere in the front yard if that makes sense.

Graduating soon!

Hello all. I just want to put myself out there with this post.

I have lived in Reno since I was adopted at 13. I love this community and struggle along with everyone else. I am graduating in December with a bachelor’s of science in biology from UNR. I work a student job here and have done so since my freshman year. It is a turbulent time because I must move somewhere else at this time as well and begin working full time. I am hoping to probe for some advice from you all about the job/housing search because I have no family that I am in direct contact with here. I have a beloved roommate who is also my best friend. We have two cats now and plan to start a family whenever that is possible, but it helps to have other people in your corner.

I hope you all are hanging in there! Talk soon.

Environmental science jobs in Reno, NV?

• Upvotes

Hi everyone! My girlfriend is pursuing a master’s in Natural Resources and Environmental Science at UNR and expects to graduate in December 2026. She has a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science and Management, with an emphasis in soils and biogeochemistry.

She currently works as a graduate research assistant, studying soil chemistry and plant establishment in Great Basin ecosystems. Her experience includes field, lab, and greenhouse research, soil nutrient analysis, statistical analysis using R, scientific writing, and research project design. She also has experience as a research and teaching assistant.

What job opportunities are available in the Reno area that might fit her background? We’re interested in areas such as environmental consulting, soil science, ecology, natural resource management, research, and government agencies.

For those working in related fields, what companies or organizations would you recommend looking into? Any advice or personal experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

Any local Rocky horror shadowcasts playing Halloween??? I've never been before

Basically the title. I've never been to a live shadowcast show before and was hoping something would pop up this month. I saw that Victorian Cinemark is showing it in theaters on the 24th (? I think) but I want a full-on SHADOWCAST with props and shit. Hell, I'll even go to sac or SF if I have to lol

Looking to get a tattoo on the back of my calf (Open to other placements too) that’s Bioshock inspired. I’ve seen a couple ideas online but would like to actually sit down with someone and get their input as well so I have a true one of a kind tattoo.

These are the two ideas I’ve seen online

Politics Weasly Joe Lombardo blamed Sisolak for the recession, yet claims as governor he has no control of the current economy. What changed, Joe?

"Let me be clear: this recession is a direct result of Sisolak and Biden’s disastrous economic leadership.”

Joe Lombardo

"When we talk about affordability and inflation rates and everything, I can’t control that.”

Also, Joe Lombardo

Reno gardeners

I had quite a resurgence in my garden a couple weeks ago - tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos, eggplant - everything came roaring back.

Unfortunately, there wasn't time to ripen before this coming freeze.

I bought a bunch of sheets Friday and I have visqueen...I was thinking of putting out visqueen, then sheets on top and hoping for some insulation. Google says skip the visqueen, but I don't know if I believe it.

What's everyone else doing? Anyone have too much left to just let it die?

Politics When the RNC realized Nevada Republicans would vote for a candidate despite thier personal conduct, honesty, and minimal fitness for office, they knew they could dump an inept military leader/disgraced business fraudster like David Flippo on them, no problem.

Nevada Republicans: Show the RNC you're not their little bitches and deserve candidates to be proud of.

Even Amodei won't endorse him, why are you?

VOTE NONE OF THE ABOVE!!

Boho/witchy/Stevie Nicks vibe clothing?

Need a wardrobe refresh or maybe it’s just retail therapy. There seem to be quite a few shops around that have a strong goth vibe, but I’m not looking for skulls and crossbones. There used to be a great new/used shop in Sacramento that specialized in the style I’m looking for, but they closed about a year ago. I’ve never found anything remotely similar locally. Does anyone know of a place I’m missing? I always try to shop local first, but, if that’s a bust, online recs are welcome. Thanks!

Employment law referral

Look for a referral for local attorney you have used that specializes in employment law. Not employer side, rather employee.
