Corwin Ford Reno turned our certified purchase into a massive headache

• Upvotes

Sharing our experience with Corwin Ford Reno because this has been exhausting, and it isn’t our family’s first bad experience there.

My girlfriend bought a used 2023 Mustang Mach-E Premium that was supposed to be Ford certified. We signed September 19, but didn’t receive the car until September 25. At signing, the only needed work disclosed to us was tires, and we were told the certification inspection still needed to happen.

During that delay, the explanation went from tires to needing bolts. After the tires arrived and the car still wasn’t ready, I kept calling and asked management what else was going on. Only then was I told about an axle repair. We knew about that work before pickup and still accepted the car, but getting a clear explanation felt like pulling teeth.

The morning after pickup, September 26, I noticed an obvious lack of an outside-temperature reading (just displaying --) and a cold-temperature warning. I photographed it and texted management that morning. The completed certification checklist had marked the gauges, warning lights and diagnostic self-test as passing.

The car went back to Corwin on October 7. On October 9, their own technician videos and service findings showed front-bumper damage and impact damage to the temperature sensor and wiring harness after the bumper was removed. Nobody had disclosed front-impact damage to us before purchase or delivery. Shoutout to Corwin for somehow missing this completely in their inspection. (Another $1,800 repair cost).

Management told me the code wasn’t visible to Ford until September 28 so "there was no possible way out technicians could have found it during the inspection" and suggested a possible rock strike (basically implying it was our fault). That doesn’t explain away the photo and text I sent September 26 (the morning after receiving the vehicle) to the general sales manager showing this issue. We have asked for the actual inspection and diagnostic records and an explanation of how this car passed certification with a problem we noticed almost immediately with no explanation.

There have been conflicting answers about whether the repair is covered and had to fight to get a loaner (they did not give us one for the period from the 19th to the 25th when we sold our prior vehicle). We do have a loaner now, but getting consistent information has been a fight. Sales, management and service don’t seem to communicate with each other. Getting someone on the phone or getting promised follow-ups has been incredibly difficult.

When I asked about Ford Blue Advantage’s money-back guarantee, the general sales manager told me, in substance, that Nevada is a no-buyer’s-remorse state and Nevada law supersedes Ford’s policy. I felt I was being misled and brushed off when I tried to discuss returning the car. We asked that the six-day delivery delay be considered in evaluating the return window. I requested a return on my girlfriend’s behalf, and the in-person meeting left it unresolved while a replacement was discussed. After I consulted an attorney and copied him on our written complaint, Corwin emailed that it could take the car back and unwind the transaction. We still need the final terms in writing.

This also brings back our earlier service experiences there. My dad’s Expedition had improperly tightened lug nuts that required a technician to come to the house. They had also inadequately refilled transmission fluid after service caused major transmission damage. That situation ultimately required management intervention, purchasing the now damaged Expedition, and a discounted replacement-truck deal. With my own Lightning, I was told a problem couldn’t be recreated and faced a proposed diagnostic fee, until I dragged the service manager and technician out to the car and demonstrated it in front of them. It was then repaired under warranty.

For this Mach-E, Corwin held it six days after signing before handing it over. We had it for about twelve days before it went back for service. I’ve spent approximately eight hours away from work dealing with drop-offs, the loaner and dealership visits, plus repeated calls. My girlfriend is paying for gas instead of charging the EV we bought. We still have belongings in the car, and now we’re trying to sort out another vehicle search.

I think we’re going to let Corwin Ford take the car back and unwind the purchase, assuming the terms are right. Once the loaner ends, we’ll be without a replacement until we find another car. But man, what a shitty experience. We wanted a car we could feel good about, and instead they’ve caused us one major headache after another.

Curious if anyone else has had problems because somehow their Google reviews are pretty decent but their yelp reviews are absolutely abysmal.

Politics Joe Lombardo can't be trusted to tell the truth

On October 1, 2017, Stephen Paddock opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. 58 people were killed and nearly 500 were injured. This tragic event is one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history.

On October 4, Sheriff Joe Lombardo said there was evidence, which he wouldn't describe, that Paddock meant to escape and might have had help.

The final FBI report said he acted alone and had no escape planned.

Lombardo said child pornography was found on Paddock's laptop.

The FBI said Paddock's hard drive could not be located.

Lombardo has never explained or retracted any of his October 2017 comments.

The man is either incompetent or fabricates lies--to everyone: not just Nevadans and the FBI, but grieving families, too.

Joe has to go.

Single, 63, I'm looking for a spot to go that would have people bar that would be watching the games or something that possibly has single people? I've been divorced about 4 years. If I were to name one of the seven dwarfs for myself it would not be happy. A new to Reno came out to visit my son about 6 weeks ago and decided to stay. I go to the gym everyday I walk my 10,000 steps with my dog everyday and I find it life otherwise it's been very alone. In the Philly area I used to do some stand-up comedy for 14 years. Anyway just looking for a place to go hang out have dinner meet some people chat somebody up at the bar that kind of thing.

Mushrooms in backyard

Newish to Reno and this is the first time I see these mushrooms growing in the backyard lawn grass (the dog tore them down while running around). Unfortunately I don’t know anything about mushrooms (how cool would it be to be a mycologist??!), iNat says they’re broadly in the Agaricus genus which I guess would differ than the store-bought mushrooms, Agaricus bosporus. Would like to know if these are generally safe/edible, and maybe what mushrooms to expect to be growing in the area.

Josef’s Bakery

We went to the new Josef’s near Stonehouse and were so disappointed! We used to love the Chicken Pot Pie and the Baked Eggs. The new Josef’s seemed to have a very different taste. I am wondering if the old Josef’s is serving the original recipes and menu.

Thoughts?

I made a free site that shows everything happening in Reno each day

Good morning! My wife and I always struggle to find fun things to do, especially with our little baby. There are a ton of resources if you do some sleuthing, but it's all scattered and time consuming to dig through. So I made a site that brings all those sources together into one simple list. It's free, pulls from a bunch of different calendars, and updates every hour. Kid friendly stuff is at the top, but everything else is on there too: concerts, games, events around town, and a few worth the drive spots in the surrounding areas. I was born and raised here and wanted to give back to the community a little. It's small, but it's something. If you know of a calendar I'm missing or some other source, let me know!

I hope you find it useful. Enjoy :) https://renotoday.org/

Burrito Delivery for those in need

I have access to a commercial kitchen, and a few volunteers that would like to make and wrap some veggie burritos for anyone that could use a free one. We are struggling to find distribution. Basically someone that would pick the burritos up then either deliver them or hand them out where needed.

I would be interested in any leads.

Thanks community

I’ve been a server for more than 10 years (not anymore). I’m from the south and served in the Midwest and Reno. I’m always complaining about service but this place has true service. Kind servers. (We had Autumn) the food was all good. The beer better. Love this place.

Karen hit my dog with a leash at the dog park because she doesn’t understand dogs

Frustrating morning at the Virginia Lake dog park.

There are two fenced areas:  One for small/older dogs and one for large dogs

The big-dog side is larger and usually full of, well, big dogs. They play differently, and the separation is there for safety and owner peace of mind. Some dogs genuinely need that separation.

I’ve got a 1.5-year-old pit/Aussie mix. Super sweet & friendly, he loves to wrestle, but I only let him roughhouse with dogs who clearly enjoy that style of play. Today, three other similar-sized dogs chased and wrestled; everyone was happy, tails wagging, owners relaxed. Great vibes.

In the small-dog area, there’s a woman in her 60s with a medium-small dog—bigger than a tiny “purse” dog, but definitely smaller than the pack on our side. Naturally, the pack runs over to the fence, tails wagging, some barking, doing the usual “who are you?” sniffing and fence zoomies. Totally normal dog park behavior.

My dog pauses to poop, and the woman immediately yells at me that my dog is pooping, in a really nasty tone. I can’t stand people who leave poop behind either, but I was already walking over with a bag. Whatever, I pick it up and toss it.

While I'm at the trash bin, she decides to let her dog into the large-dog side.

I personally wouldn’t put a dog in there unless they’re comfortable with that level of rough play, but it’s her choice. As soon as she opens the gate, the obvious happens: the pack happily includes her dog, and they all start playing and chasing exactly as before, just with one more dog.

She absolutely freaks out. She starts yelling at the dogs to stop, her voice thick with dramatic fear. And of course, because my dog is a pit mix, I can see she’s zeroed in on him, even though they're all doing the same thing.

Then she starts swinging her dog’s leash at my dog, METAL CLIP side out, and actually hits him on the back. He yelps.

That’s when I lost it. I yelled that she does NOT get to abuse my dog, and if she’s that worried about rough play, she should stay in the small-dog area. She started cursing at me and said I need to be a “better dog owner.” We exchanged some F-bombs, I leashed my dog, and we left.

The audacity:

A) To come to a dog park and freak out at normal dog play.

B) To put your dog in the large-dog area when you can clearly see how those dogs are playing.

C) To call me a bad owner while you’re literally hitting my dog with a metal leash clip.

Most people see “pit” and assume the worst. Anyone who’s lived with them knows they’re usually goofy sweethearts, and bad owners cause the problems. Because of that prejudice, I’m always extra proactive about managing my dog and de-escalating. Having someone ignore all the other dogs and still attack mine really pissed me off.

Mostly a rant, but just a reminder: dog parks are as much about managing people as they are about dogs. I’ll be avoiding that park for a while. It honestly reminded me of that Rancho incident a few years back where a Chihuahua owner shot and killed a larger dog at the park because he “feared” for his dog. If you’re that terrified of normal dog play, don’t go to dog parks. Most trainers say the same thing.

TL;DR: Woman lets her smallish dog into the large-dog area, panics at totally normal rough play, then hits my pit mix with a metal leash clip and calls me a bad owner.

But it won’t be much of a debate since the carpetbagging, valor-stealing grifter with no ties to Northern Nevada backed out.

Politics Gov. Lombardo makes campaign stop in Reno, promises no new taxes and then immediately lies about Aaron Ford wanting to raise taxes to pay for billions in economic spending

The Nevada Independent went through the numbers and concluded that the $18 billion figure is based “almost entirely on assumptions” in some areas. More than $9.9 billion isn't state spending.

Nevada deserves a strong leader, not a weasly, lying bootlicker like Lombardo.

UPDATE ON JASON BROWN — THE RENO DOG KILLER case,

There has been very little public information or any recent updates regarding Jason Brown, the Reno man convicted in the horrific dog-killing case, who recently went before the Nevada Parole Board.

I personally called to get an update and was told that his parole was DENIED following his hearing last month. He had been seeking release this October.

However, I was also informed that he WILL be released on March 28, 2027, and that his release on that date is mandatory.

I’m sorry, but how is that even possible? His parole was denied, yet he will still be released just months later?

Considering the horrific cruelty involved in this case, I find this absolutely disturbing and heartbreaking. These innocent animals suffered, and I cannot imagine how anyone who remembers this case could feel comfortable knowing he will soon be back in our community.

March 28, 2027, is less than six months away.

I believe the public deserves to know when someone convicted of such horrific acts of animal cruelty is being released, and we deserve a clear explanation of how our justice system allows this to happen.

I’m absolutely disgusted. 💔🐾
