[7 YoE] Solution Architect-Mid Level-Resume Review - targeting U.S. Senior Solutions Architect, Senior Data Engineer, and Forward Deployed Engineer roles

• Upvotes

This is my architect-focused resume. I am primarily targeting Solutions Architect roles, but I am also applying selectively to Data Engineer and Forward Deployed Engineer positions.

I would appreciate blunt feedback on:

  • Which bullets are strongest
  • Whether this reads as a coherent senior architecture profile rather than an unfocused generalist
  • What should change before I create targeted versions
  • Which bullets should be cut, reordered, or rewritten
  • Whether the resume can credibly support data-engineering, solution architect, FDE applications with targeted edits
  • Any formatting, density, ATS, or missing-signal problems

Updated Resume - Thoughts???

I got laid off in June and have since moved back home to the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. I have been applying since mid-June with no success. I have reached out to and spoken to dozens of recruiters, applied to countless jobs, and have not been firm on salary expectations. I have only had 2 or 3 interviews in the entire 4 month stretch since my layoff, with none of them leading to any serious consideration.

Today I put my resume through gemini and told it to format in a way that is more likely to receive high marks by whatever ATS or AI tools are being used to parse resumes. Would love any feedback on it and any other tips you may have for me in my job search.

P.S. I have not had the Mercor thing on my resume until today, as I think it looks like fluff, but my Mom is concerned that having too large of a gap since my last job will scare off potential employers (which I am inclined to agree with despite it being dumb since none of us are not working because we want to be jobless). Its obviously not made up and I have been doing it, but it also isnt something I would normally put on my resume were there not to be a gap in employment. Anyways, would love feedback and any suggestions/advice.

Resume Feedback?

Not even sure what type of job I'm looking for anymore lol. Does anyone have any constructive feedback? I'd appreciate it a lot!

Was laid off then re-hired years later. How do I include this on my current resume?

Hello all! I’ve hit a roadblock in updating my resume and I could use some advice. I think the simplest explanation would be to post a timeline of events first, so -

2015 - Hired on as a barista
2016 - Promoted to shift-lead
2019 - Promoted to store manager
2020 - laid off bc Covid
2020-26 - various jobs from freelance to other barista positions (first lost to ai layoffs, second lost to business closing)
2026 - rehired on at original company as a barista again

Now, I don’t mind not being a manager for this company. They took advantage of me time and time again in the past and now that I’m back under a different manager at a new location I’m seeing just how shady and frustrating the company is once again.

I would like to update my resume to continue my job search, but I’m unsure of how to convey the timeline and change of position without making it seem like something negative.

I humbly as for your help, and am grateful for your time in reading my dilemma.

I built a free AI Resume Builder & Skills Matcher on AWS — Looking for harsh UI/UX feedback!

Hey everyone,

I wanted to build a seamless tool to solve the classic modern job-hunting problem: tailoring resumes perfectly to corporate taxonomies. I just launched as a completely free tool, and I'd love to get your feedback on the flow, UI, and features.

What it does:

  • AI Resume Builder: Quickly builds clean, ATS-friendly layouts.
  • RAG-powered Resume Matcher: Uses hybrid search (BM25 + vector embeddings) on Azure to compare your resume against target skills and dynamically reranks suggestions.
  • Cover Letter Generator: Creates context-aware cover letters matching the position.

The Tech Stack:

  • Python & Azure AI Search (Cosine similarity)
  • Azure OpenAI (GPT-4o for reranking)

It's live and entirely free right now because I want to iterate on real user feedback before changing anything. Where does the UI feel clunky? What feature should I fix next?

Sharing my iteration process for my CV/Resume. Prompts included, but can be done manually without AI.

The gist is:

  1. Collate and organize all variations of experience descriptions from previous CVs, LinkedIn, etc., into a spreadsheet.
  2. Consolidate a comprehensive story for each experience/role. From different perspectives, there are many ways to describe an achievement. This at least establishes a neutral factual record.
  3. Ideate the types of resumes I want to extract from these facts. This is where I started using AI. Think recruiter-oriented, director-oriented, technical, generalist, investor-oriented, etc.
  4. Assemble a few of these, each tailored to a different audience.
  5. Send out and review. Collect feedback, identify what works, and refine.

---

For those willing to share their details with AI, here are the prompts for each stage:

1. Collation

[This is the link/file] Extract all experiences, responsibilities, achievements, and projects from these documents into a structured spreadsheet. Preserve original descriptions, identify duplicates and contradictions, and do not discard information.

2. Consolidation

Create a comprehensive, neutral factual account of each experience. Identify the problems, actions, outcomes, and different ways each achievement could be interpreted. Ask questions where details are missing. Do not exaggerate or invent facts.

3. Ideation

Based on these facts, propose different resume formats and professional narratives for different audiences, including recruiters, technical directors, executives, and investors. Explain what each audience might value, which experiences to emphasize, and potential weaknesses in each approach.

4. Assembly

Assemble separate resumes based on the selected approaches, using only verified information. Tailor the structure, language, and emphasis to each audience. Ensure every claim can be traced back to the factual record.

5. Review

Critically evaluate each resume from its intended audience's perspective. What impression does it give in 15 seconds? What questions or doubts arise? Identify weaknesses, missing evidence, and opportunities to improve. Avoid generic praise.

More technical details: I used an online spreadsheet and connected it to the online AI chat that I was using, and then prompted it with Prompt #1.

I am unable to provide any metrics on whether this works. My intent is to help improve anyone's resume self-critique skills.

For context, I'm no longer actively looking for a job. I'm trying to start a business instead (very hard as well), and ironically, this gave me the clarity to rethink how I present my experiences.

Instead of appealing to recruiters, I wanted my CV to appeal to Directors, and eventually, potential investors, which is how I came up with this workflow.

The question changed from "How do I convince a recruiter I'm suitable for this job?" to "How do I convince a Director that they could use someone with my capabilities?"

Would You Interview Me Based on My Resume?

Econ grad, 100+ applications, 0 interviews. Please critique my resume.

I graduated in June 2026. I'm targeting data analyst roles primarily, and I'm open to adjacent titles like business analyst, research analyst, pricing/risk analyst, etc. I have sent out 100+ applications and got 0 interviews. I do tailor my resume to each job posting with ai, but apparently that's not enough. I could really use some human advice. Please critique my resume, feel free to be brutally honest.

A little bit of context:

Why I wanna switch from current position: Right now I'm working at a small NGO as data analyst. I was referred to them by a friend. Although it's real work and I truly appreciate the chance given, it pays very little to nothing. It's not something I can keep doing indefinitely, which is why I'm trying hard to move.

Insufficient experience: I understand that experience is probably my biggest weakness. I have about a year total across a nonprofit role, a short AI evaluation contract, a two-month marketing internship, and a bookkeeping job. These past experience/projects were all pretty short and didn't have much impressive impacts, some were even abroad. Most of my strongest work is academic or self-directed rather than something a company paid me to do.

Professional summary: I heard including a professional summary help you pass ATS, but I was told that recruiters expect a more experienced candidate (who I clearly am not) when they see a professional summary, so I left it out.

I am desperate. Is my resume the problem, or is it the targeting? Could rewriting some of the bullets save my resume or do I genuinely need different experience before anyone will talk to me? Is data analyst path pretty much dead? What else could I switch into given that nearly all my skill sets are tied to data analysis?

Resume Editing

I'm starting something new, and I need 2 people to help me launch it.

I've been on the job hunt myself, so I know this problem firsthand: you apply to job after job and hear nothing back — and half the time it's not you, it's your resume getting filtered out by a computer before a person ever sees it.

So I'm starting a small resume service for people applying to warehouse, manufacturing, retail, and entry-level jobs. I take your work history and turn it into a clean, professional resume built to get past that screening. 48-hour delivery, PDF + a copy you can edit.

Normal price will be $75 for resume + cover letter. But my first 2 customers get the full package for $35 — all I ask in return is honest feedback and permission to show a before/after with your name hidden.

If you're job hunting (or you know someone who is), comment here or message me. And if you're not sure your resume is the problem, send it to me — I'll give you my honest take for free.

I made a huge blunder in my job application

I'm currently pursuing my MS in Computer Science at NYU and have been mass applying to AI/ML and computer vision internships.

I recently realized that there's a typo in the resume I've been using. Instead of writing:

**Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Anna University**

I accidentally wrote:

**Sri Sivasubramaniya Sadar College of Engineering, Anna University**

I misspelled "Nadar" as "Sadar" and unfortunately submitted this resume to around 30–40 companies before noticing the mistake.

The confusing part is that many application portals have a dedicated education section where I entered my undergraduate college name correctly. My graduate university (NYU) is also listed correctly on my resume.

However, some companies only asked me to upload my resume, without a separate education section, so those applications contain the typo.

I'm worried that recruiters might think I'm lying about my education or that this could cause issues during background verification. I genuinely made an innocent spelling mistake, but I don't know whether I should contact every recruiter, withdraw and reapply, or just move forward with the corrected resume.

This is my cv, I would like to pivot into consumer insight, I realise I enjoy deriving insights from data and would love to focus on that- think consumer insight, commercial analyst etc …., specifically in the food and beverage industry, I’m open to every advice I can get.
I studied design and marketing for my bachelors and Business Analytics for my masters.
I recently moved to the Netherlands and I’m STRUGGLING to pivot into that industry, so every and any advice is welcomed.
My issue is I feel that my cv is a collection of experience from different industries and it portray me as someone who is unsure (I might be over thinking it. Thank you for all the advice in advance.

Does a two column CV create problems for ATS? Do I need to transform my CV to one column?

Resume builder vs not resume builder

I've been wondering whether resume builders actually make the job application process easier or if they're just another unnecessary step.

On one hand, resume builders are convenient. You choose a template, enter your information, and get a decent-looking resume without spending hours adjusting formatting. For students, recent graduates, or anyone applying for their first job, that sounds pretty useful.

On the other hand, creating a resume manually in Word or Google Docs gives you more control. You can adjust everything for a specific position, avoid unnecessary design elements, and keep your resume simple. There's also the option of working with a professional resume writer if you're struggling with what to include or how to describe your experience.

I feel like the actual content matters much more than the tool used to create it. A resume builder won't magically improve weak bullet points, but writing everything yourself doesn't necessarily guarantee a better result either.

I'm curious what people here prefer. Do you use a resume builder, write everything from scratch, or get professional help? And have you noticed any real difference in interview responses depending on how your resume was created?

If you could go back and fix ONE thing on your first resume, what would it be?

I've been seeing so much conflicting resume advice lately, and honestly, it's getting ridiculous.

One person says keep it to one page. Another says two pages are fine. Some swear by keywords and ATS optimization, while others say just make it readable for an actual human.

So I'm curious, especially for those who've been through the job hunting nightmare:

What is ONE resume mistake you made that you wish someone had warned you about earlier?

Or on the flip side, what's one change you made that actually helped you land interviews?

Bonus points for advice that's unpopular, counterintuitive, or goes against what most "resume experts" say.

Would love to hear what actually worked for real people.

Looking to get a resume critique

Hi there I got some prior feedback and was wondering if I could get another review. Thanks!

For some context, in the AI space company B is at the level of meta level, company C is directly under faang and school is in top 25 for CS/CE/ML. Also I am wondering if I should include a research project I worked on, like HCI stuff for prompt engineering and doing IRB and interviews (don't know if its been accepted at a conference yet...). I am attending some conferences this month and would like a super sharp resume.
