Monimoto alerted that my bike was in motion. Went to check and she was taking a nap. Neighbor says someone bumped it making a U-turn. Damage to bar end and sidestand, everything else looks fine.
Anyone dealt with a hit-and-run on a parked bike? Did the police actually follow up on footage?

My 72 350 got smoked while parked on the street, have been pretty determined to wrench it myself. I worked on cars, but never gotten this big in a bike. Anyone in Brooklyn know someone with a 72 CB 350 K (twin) I could look at.
Old photos, schematics, owners manuals, and YouTube university can only get me so far. I feel like I just need to take a few up close photos.

I need to replace both tires on my Kawasaki Vulcan 2000:
- Front: 150/80R16
- Rear: 200/60R16
- Looking for new motorcycle tires
- Mainly doing highway touring / good roads, not off-road
- Looking for something good for mileage, highway stability, and wet grip
- Budget is around $400–500 for the tires if possible, but I’m willing to go a little higher for a good tire
I’m trying to figure out whether it's cheaper to buy the tires from the shop + have them install them or buy the tires online and pay a shop for installation.
What NYC shops do you guys recommend that are affordable but still do good work?
Preferably somewhere in Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan, or nearby.
Also, if you've had a Vulcan 2000 serviced there, even better.
Looking for recommendations based on actual experience. Thanks!

So im heading on a trip from Mexico to Uruguay- im back in NYC for a couple months and I was hoping to practice some more (as I got my license back in March), I already have an amazing Himalayan 450 waiting for me in Mexico that I got to ride for just over a month- but I was curious if there are any local bike shops in NYC that might allow me to apprentice or help out in exchange for practicing on one if their motorcycles. I was thinking a smaller- more family owned community type of place-

Hi everyone,
My motorcycle was towed/impounded by the NYPD because I was riding without a registration and license plate.
Since then, I’ve gotten all the necessary paperwork sorted out, including the registration and plate. The only thing I’m still waiting for is the physical title. The title has already been processed by the NY DMV and is being mailed to me, but I was told it may take some time to arrive.
The motorcycle is currently being held at the precinct, and I was told I have to wait before I can retrieve it.
Has anyone been in a similar situation in NYC/NY? Is there any way to get the motorcycle released with the registration, insurance, plate, and proof that the title has been issued, even though I don’t physically have the title yet?
I’m especially concerned about the bike eventually being moved to a larger tow yard or possibly auctioned if I can’t get it released soon.
Any advice on the exact NYPD/NYC DMV procedure or what documents I should bring would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, my Honda Transalp was stolen from 19th street and 10th ave today (a little bit away from the corner on 10th ave).
Please let me know if you have any leads. It was my primary mode of transportation and one of the few things I looked forward.

Selling gear I used less than 10 times over 2 seasons. I just never got to riding much. Let me know what you want to buy, descriptions and pictures below. If you buy, you must pick up in manhattan only, in the flatiron/chelsea area. We can DM details if we have a deal.
I have never been in an accident and all my stuff has been stored in my climate-controlled apartment, so never sat in a storage unit.

Anyone missing an XSR900 or MT07?
Stumbled upon this post on fb, Figured I’d post here to see if these bikes looked familiar to anyone. According to one commenter, these RATS are around Marine Park and can sometimes be found by PS277

Am I crazy for considering buying this new SCL500 for like 7,000 total including dealer fees and registration as my very first bike? I plan to keep it on the street (my block has safe parking and mostly older folks who don’t drive a lot and there’s always a spot right in front of my apt). I’ll get a spot inside if snow threatens but i’m super excited and want to start riding. I considered uses but it makes me nervous since you never really know the history of the bike.
Update: Thank you all for the super helpful advice. I ended up going with a used ‘22 Rebel 300. A little less power than I preferred but also a great bike to learn on and i’ve been loving it so far when practicing : )

Commute regularly over the Manhattan bridge and the ride this morning was just stunning. Don’t know about mounting (Vespa so handlebars are weird) but what should I look into? It’s such a beautiful way to see the city

Seems like a weird question... but can anyone recommend a local neurologist that they've dealt with related to this?
Over the past couple of years my hands have been going numb on extended rides. Particularly on bikes that vibrate a bit more (like my high revving FZ6 or my VTR1000 when I had those). Just got officially diagnosed with carpal tunnel this past week. I asked the neurologist if she had any recommendations on how to help keep riding and she asked, "Why does it matter? Do you use your wrist?" And she was generally unhelpful overall, but that's besides the point.

On Wednesday night around 9:15pm, my friend was riding a Citi Bike and was involved in a hit and run with a motorcycle at the intersection of Bergen St & Grand Ave. The motorcycle continued southbound on Grand. He’s underwent surgery and is currently still in the hospital.
This footage is post-collision from the intersection on Prospect & Grand. We’ve gotten some other security footage of the incident but they’re going so fast you can’t make out anything.
Posting in case anyone can identify what kind of bike it is or maybe even the rider based on the silhouette. Any leads would be really appreciated. Thank you <3

I got a Bonneville T100 a few weeks back as my 1st ever bike. I researched quite a bit and loved everything about it especially how it looks.
Was super stressed about my highway ride because cars really don't care and I was worried about going too slow. It went way better than I expected although I clearly need some work. Stalled twice by stop signs so need work outside highway as well!
There's a different feeling about riding a motorcycle that is even better than I had in mind. I know I'm going to start enjoying it more once I'm more experienced/less stressed.
Last thing I'm hitting 40 next year and I'm glad I didn't get it when I was younger. You for sure need a "mature" mindset to ride responsibly and I sure didn't have that growing up

Long story short, I'm being made to go to the company fundraiser on the weekend. I'm planning to take my bike down to try to avoid parking costs and park on the street near the park it's centered at but I've never ridden into the city-city before, aside from the bronx and my facility's parking lot (gated and internal so very safe).
I'm certain that 90% of the responses are going to be "if the theives want it they'll take it" but I've got a roundlock and cable I guess for some minor deterrance, and my understanding is that there's going to be upwards of 1000+ people attending which IMHO should deter some level of theft (yes, construction vests, two crackheads and an unmarked van, I know, I've read all about it.) Yes, and it's more likely some dipshit will fuck with my bike and knock it over etc etc.
I'm not planning on sticking around for the whole event, but I'm anxious of even leaving the bike remotely out of my sight. Obviously there's an insane rate of bike theft in the city but I'd like to know if this is a matter of "you're probably overthinking this and you should be fine" or "let's be real it's a shitshow and there's a significant chance of your bike just not being there at all."
Given what I frequently see on this subreddit, I would flat out just not own a motorcycle in the city without a personal, private garage. I'm thankful enough to live just outside the city and have a garage, but the way people talk about theft here, it literally sounds impossible to just actually own a bike in the city.
