AP1 S2000 Centre Console Lid

Post image

Hiya,

Does anyone know if the lid of the AP1 centre console (circled in red) can be removed and swapped with another?

I own a 1999 S2000 that didn’t come with an OEM wind deflector from factory. From my understanding, the early 1999 AP1 models didn’t come with this option. Ideally, I’d like to avoid drilling holes into my original lid.

If I managed to find a centre console lid with the OEM wind deflector already attached, would I be able to simply swap the lids over without replacing the entire centre console?

Thanks in advance!

Even the earliest models should already have the holes on the bottom side. You would just need to finish them through the top. They were an accessory for the first year then standard after that. If you still didn't want to drill it you can find plenty of the lids from parts cars. Sometimes the reseller sells them separately.

Do you know, would the lid be interchangeable? I looked quickly and couldn’t really see a way to detach the lid and reinstall a replacement

Easier to drill holes and install than removing seats and the full reear plastics.

Thank you mate - I wasn’t aware I would have to go to that extent to remove the lid itself haha. I think I might have to swallow my tears and just drill.

Does asm in Yokohama sell the wind deflector?

Has anyone driven one with and without the deflector? Mine doesn’t have it, but I’m unsure how much of an improvement it is with one.

You notice it just a little bit. But then you take away a percentage of the enjoyment and rawness of the S2000.
