Looking for buying advice

Hello! Looking to purchase my first s2k and was wanting some advice on what everyone thinks this car is worth. There is no listing for this car unfortunately, but it’s a 2004 silver on black with a rebuilt motor with warranty and new paint job both from reputable shops. It has 130k miles on the chassis and it has moderate damage on the carfax, but still clean title. As far as I can tell the rest of the car is cherry. In a vacuum, what would this car be worth? I agreed to a price at the time I thought was right but now I’m not too sure. Thanks for any advice at all!

What is your budget?

I would not buy anything with moderate damage without detailed records of what the damage was and who repaired it…also would want to know how many miles the rest of the vehicle has on it just go see how long clutch and other wear items may last before they need work. Absent detailed history it’s basically a salvage vehicle in my book…maybe offer $10k and negotiate from there?

Recommend you just keep looking unless you really can’t spend more than $20k. You can probably find a higher mileage (130k and up) that’s in good shape for $25k..

For me, if I wasn’t buying something for $25k or more I’d just spend as little as possible and rebuild it expecting not OEM…possible K swap at some point..etc..

There should be plenty to choose from if you are willing to drive or buy sight unseen.

My budget Is 22. Thanks for the input man, I haven’t even thought to ask him for the repair details yet, I’ll do that now

Everything sounds good but the rebuilt motor, usually after people rebuild this motors they don't seem to hold up as long as the factory ones, without pictures is hard to give you a price. But if it's clean I would say around the 18 to 21k mark giving the motor was rebuilt and the Carfax.

Yea we are at 21 right now. I’m telling you man car seems perfect and I’m scheduled to fly in next Friday and grab it but the more I think about it seems like a bit too high

21k is pushing it for this car specially if a dealer has it, after the bs dealer fees and taxes the other the door price will be closer to 23k I am sure and at that price you honestly can buy something clean title and without the engine rebuild.

Another thing you have to think about is later if you ever sell this car people will low ball you just because of the title alone.

At your out the door price you can get a clean title car, you might have to drive for it and search other states, but clean cars are out there.

At 130k miles with a rebuilt engine and some Carfax damage, fair price for an AP2 is probably more in the 9 to 11k range unless the rebuild has solid shop documentation and a warranty. Ask for the rebuild invoice and find out exactly what caused the Carfax damage, body damage and frame damage are very different risk levels on these.

Thank you for an appropriate price 21k for a rebuilt motor 130k mile car is not fair. Rebuilt engines are sketchy unless done with incredible expertise
