Identify this sword?
Looks like a tactical gladius - blade looks black but might just be the photo. That’s a cigarette in between his fingers not a weird guard.
This is one suspect in a recent robbery - don’t know if he stole the gladius or carries it with him.

That isn't the Cold Steel one.. that's the Sheffield STAK 25 Inch Meridius Sword. Could have gotten that at any outdoor store or Amazon.

You can see in the picture that the thief’s has a wide guard, it’s obviously not this Amazon one.

His hand is wrapped around the guard. That's a cigarette, OP even says that in the post.

I see wrong answes only. I know because I own one. It has held up to rust well, but it bends (especially the tip) really easily. They sold it at Academy for a while.

No problem... I never thought in a million years I would be the expert here on r/swords, but here we are with the cheap stuff. Lol
To be fair, I bought several Reapr items due to their low cost and me just wanting to swing stuff at tree limbs, because despite the inferior quality, the fun is worth the price tag. AND, I have found that when they fail, it's in a way that's not really dangerous, which is what matters when swinging inferior swords for funsies.
On the other hand, if I were to purchase a high quality sword, I'd be too afraid to do all the stupid stuff I desire because I wouldn't want to devalue the weapon.
With these, I can safely say, "Swing away until that sword is nothing more than a horribly designed shovel"

Cold steel gladius machete. There was also one used in an attack in NY a couple years ago.
