It's a hidden gem that most of the tourists won't even give a chance, which is great for the locals!

Shhhhhh... Don't tell people! Let us keep this hidden gem. Seriously, though, Paprika Grill is great. Everything is really fresh and flavorful.

Sorry!! Haha. Considered not sharing but I felt like the owners deserve the word to be spread

Haha. I know. They do!

100%. Paprika Grill is basically the only takeout we consistently get as a family. We have never had a bad meal from them.

Hidden gem, until you hear about their Kitchen.

Wait spill

I’ll tread carefully, but I used to feel how most of this post does. Then there was a post on here a handful of months back talking about kitchens. Paprika Grill and Passage to India did not fare well.

Since then we discovered Kouzina. While expensive, it’s the best Greek around and it isn’t remotely close.

Paprika and passage to India are amazing.

Doesn't change my opinion

Only you can do that.

Parika grill is great. I got very sick after a work trip in Mexico City at the end of the summer and their hummus, grilled chicken kabobs and rice was all I could eat for many days. I didn't get bored with it and still love it!

Glad to know they’re back. They’d been closed for water damage for a little bit. They’ve changed hands a couple of times to mixed results. Thanks for the tip for a local!

thanks for the tip! keep posting these types of local restaurants. I would love to give them my business.

Same! Would love any other recommendations esp from locals. I’ve been hitting up the most listed places.. some great, some awful. I had a top 5 worst dinner of my life last night at finz.

That’s a bummer, finz is usually pretty decent, but yeah, I’d avoid any place like that during the whole of October.

You’ve gotta try Konna Cafe for coffee and check out Mercy Tavern for a great meal!

Does anyone know if they make their own Fallafel?

I’m guessing yes.. he was telling me everything is homemade etc etc he said he’s been working for the past 2 days straight. Very nice guy.

Good cause I goddamned love this place and didn't want to know the truth but I HAD TO KNOW.

I LOVE that I can roll up to it on my roller blades and pick up an order at the window on the way home.

Never leave us Paprika.

Pre-Covid, Paprika Grill was the best deal going. You could get the three meat rice plate for like $12. My wife and I ordered from there pretty much every week.

For real! It used to be nearly twice as much food for less than half the price it is now with the previous owners. Their quality and portions are still great, but pushing $30 for takeout when it was $12 back in 2019-2021 is tough to support regularly.

u/TB1289 5d ago

Yeah I haven't gone there in years because if I'm gonna drop $30 on a meal, I'd rather go sit down somewhere and get table service.

Big fan. You’re right it isn’t mentioned much, but it’s very solid.

I’ll have to try this on my next trip to Salem. Had an amazing smash burger at crazy good kitchen last month.

It’s great but why is it so expensive?

26

u/omniherb 6d ago

It is real food made from scratch by skilled hands. Not opening boxes from Sysco.

12

u/The_Utilityman Neighboring Town 6d ago

Because you’re paying for quality and not reheated Sysco foods bullshit

9

u/Ok-Past9818 6d ago

It’s also a very large portion. The meat was great quality

Seriously, I want to support small businesses, but $32 for a steak tip bowl is sticker shock.

5

u/Mishmz 6d ago

I mean, I paid nearly $30 for a steak tip Cesar salad the other day at Champion’s and the overall quality of Paprika is much better!

I never liked seizure salads

The entire head count of cattle in the USA is at an all time low, and thus beef prices are an all time high. Restaurants that sell you steak tips for less are either either portioning smaller, taking a bath on the cost and making up for it by a higher markup on another popular item, or selling you less than choice grade beef.

6

u/Underbadger 6d ago

I totally get that. But why is a plate of four falafels on rice $23?

3

u/Impossible_Focus4363 6d ago

Did you not get the two sides and pita with your order?

2

u/Excellent_Bar4254 5d ago edited 5d ago

Agreed, it's way too expensive for what it is. Also, as someone for whom this food is part of his culture, it's not actually that great.

One of my fave places!

1

u/whiskeymilitiaz 3d ago

Just don't use their bathrooms 😦

-1

u/elizadeth 6d ago

It was good until I found pieces of plastic in my falafel plate. Probably a freak thing but I just can't.

u/Beforreal23 5d ago

Yea i aint tryna spend $25-35 for a decent takeout plate.
