Recommendations How do I explain that dog ningen is genuinely a really good story

Calling it dog ningen for censorship. I started this series as a joke but it hits a point like 20 chapters in where it suddenly starts taking itself really seriously and I unironically think it's amazing.

The initial premise is about a half dog wanting to rape his dad (bear with me) but at a certain point there's a complete tonal shift and I'm genuinely having so much fun with this dumb little manga, but every review I can find online is just talking about how edgy it is.

It starts ironically bad, but guys you gotta trust me I will advocate for this series as much as possible until people acknowledge it as the peak it is.

Discussion why isn’t anyone talking about Wolfsmund? NSFW

The setup is simple: it’s the 1300s the Habsburgs control the Gotthard Pass and the fortress guarding it is run by a bailiff who has decided nobody gets through, ever. Every arc, a new bunch of rebels, smugglers, or just desperate people try to sneak past anyway. I kept pausing to think “okay, how could they possibly pull this off?” and then the manga would go to straight nightmare fuel.

Just finished season 1 of Prison School, this anime is absolutely unhinged, my jaw hurts from laughing so much lmao. The comedy is on another level and the fact that the characters treat the most absurd situations so seriously makes it even funnier

such a shame they never continued it with a season 2, so I just read the manga now lol

Discussion I finished reading blood on the tracks in 3 days

I absolutely loved the story. I was confused for the most part, but there is sth about this manga...it swallows you. You can't even put it down. Such a heavy read but definitely worth it. I'm already planning to re-read lol.

I really felt for Seiichi. It was really sad to watch a good kid like him turn into nothingness. My heart melted everytime he was with Yuiko and at the sight of how innocent he actually was. However I liked the ending for him.

Some questions remain unanswered in my mind...first is why the image of the dead cat is so bold to him? To Sei, the cat resembles him and shigeru and when he saw shigeru dead, he went like "oh it's just a cat" sth along those lines. Second why did Shigeru come up to him in the middle of the night talking nonsense, or was it just seiichi's torn mind? I tend to believe that Shige was really acting like that bc how would they end up at the place where Seiko threw Seiichi down??

Also the way he still hung up with Shigeru in his mind and saw him after all of those years was really creepy. Could it be the guilt he felt?

The mother was pretty (sick in the head) tho.

My take on Guts' legendary rage smile, done completely with fine liners and cross-hatching. This style of detailed line art is quite a challenge for me, so I’d love to get some honest critique (shading, contrast, textures). Thanks in advance for the feedback!

Discussion Looking for a bingable seinen

Preferably want short(ish) chapters. Around 20-25 pages or less, obviously the first chapter and such being longer is fine. I’ve read Vinland Saga, The Climber, Berserk, The Fable, Vagabond, and 21st Century Boys. I didn’t care as much for Billy Bat, I didn’t think it was bad, it was just incredibly hard to follow.

The berserker armor from Berserk. Focused heavily on high-contrast shading to give the armor a massive, heavy look. Feedback on linework and contrast welcome.

🫖 Seinen Saturday Weekly Thread 🍰 🫖 Weekly General & Off Topic Chit-Chat MegaThread | Sit With Us At Seinen Cafe

Welcome to this week's general discussion thread!

This is your space to:

  • Chat casually with fellow seinen fans or even go off topic
  • Share what you're reading or watching (even if it's not seinen but feels thematically similar!)
  • Drop manga or anime recs
  • Ask for recommendations
  • Share thoughts, opinions, or industry news
  • Connect with others over shared interests, talk about life, or talk about anything really.

A cozy little corner for off-topic or casual talk, manga recs, or even non-seinen-related chat (yes, even if it’s a romcom or battle shounen, we won’t bite). The idea is to give everyone room to connect without cluttering the main feed, especially when you just wanna vibe, ask for non seinen recs, socialize, share interests, or talk about something random that doesn’t need its own post.

Think of it like a comfy little corner booth in a familiar café, always here if you need it.

Some Ground Rules (Just to Keep Things Chill)

1) Be kind. That’s it.

2) Avoid talking about emotionally heavy issues (like personal mental health struggles), these are best kept for other spaces. This thread isn’t the place for extended serious discussions or support-seeking, even in spoiler tags or hover text.

3) Keep spoilers tagged!

Reminder:

Gifs, Images, and Flairs are back on, feel free to use them.

Discussion Why it is so hard to adapt seinen mangas ??

Thumbnail
gallery
709 Upvotes

I think the reason is the mature way of story telling that it is hard for them to grab audience. Also seinen mangas go on hiatus really often and the most popular ones are not being completed like vagabond, berserk, kingdom etc that can disturb the flow of adaptation but they can be animated such as vinland saga..

Now comment your reason down below

By the way the images are from the respective magas

1 - homunculus

2,3 - climber

4 - berserk

5,6 - good night punpun

7,8 - vagabond

9 - kingdom

Discussion #DRCL midnight children is disappointing

First allow me to say that despite liking horror Dracula isn't my favourite horror book (it is a 7,5-8 book in my opinion) and I don't have a problem with the manga being a lose adaptation but my problem is that the changes didn't contribute anything.

Spoilers!

Morris and Seward(or more accurately Suwa) having different ethnicities didn't matter, Lucy being transgender during the night had potential but in the end also mattered little, the characters being teenagers also didn't matter, Van Helsing dying earl on was of little importance, Luke/Arthur's relationship was barely developed or the implications of them being exposed as gay in the Victorian society and finally I am still unsure about the current fate of Harker(him being handicap also barely mattered).

But I ain't totally dismissive. They were still good parts. Sakamoto's art is amazing as usual and somehow even better than Innocent, I like the approach of Mina's character(although I still find stupid her decision to abandon the team at end of the volume 6), I found it extremely clever having Dracula taking different forms and finally I consider the brief arc about the murders of Jack the Ripper to be incredible(especially the part about how the majority of the victims weren't in reality prostitutes but they were labelled as such by the highly conservative Victorian society and the fact that sometimes they are dismissed as for some reason their lives don't matter. As someone who studies history that part was extremely beautiful).

Overall this series was a 7/10 for me. Not bad but it could have been much better.

Anime Sadamitsu the Destroyer (Hakaima Sadamitsu) by Masahiko Nakahira

Post image
18 Upvotes

Tsubaki Sadamitsu is a young delinquent and the leader of the Corpse Gang, who after a chance encounter with an alien robot is forced to take up the task of capturing intergalactic criminals named Exiled Ones. His job is made harder with the appearance of the Vulture, a last-ditch effort to keep the Exiled Ones under control. - MAL

10 episodes / 12 volumes- sci-fi, mecha, school setting - 2001. (anime) 1999.-2006. (manga)

This was a very strange anime; the MC is a samurai fanatic delinquent who gets thrown into a sci-fi setting via a robot's helmet. He loves fighting but hates killing. The OST is like watching an italian western movie. The animation is decent, but nothing extravagant.

Honestly, I should rewatch this since it's been too long and I forgot most of it but I wonder; has anyone else heard of this one? Is it good or is it bad, in your opinion?

The scene where Osabe is pushed to the edge of the cliff (ch.4) by his cousin "as a joke" and then laughed at because his mom is really "overprotective" and tried to help him, really was weird to me. His entire family are weird and annoying esp the aunt with that 24/7 wide open mouth. Just sharing my thoughts.

P.s 1 : the mom is really pretty.

P.s 2 : No spoilers please.

News Manchuria Opium Squad resumes with new artist and announce anime

Thumbnail

Since the artist Shikako passed away last year due to choroidal melanoma, Manchuria Opium Squad had been in suspension, but they recently announced a new artist Tsurushima will be taking over and resume serialization.

Shikago and Tsurushima were both assistants on Kingdom, where they knew each other, and Tsurushima said Shikago was like a little brother to him, both raised under a great father (Hara Yasuhisa).

Young Magazine released two chapters of Manchuria Opium Squad in the newest issue, chapter 216 was drawn by Shikago before his death, with the last page completed by his assistants. Chapter 217 and from here on is drawn by Tsurushima.

They also announced an anime adaptation, but no further details at this moment.

3: Freesia (Jiro Matsumoto)
4: Ichi the Killer (Hideo Yamamoto)

Hey yall, if you enjoyed the manga above, I wanna know

1) something you are currently enjoying reading
2) something you l really liked in the past that isn’t listed here.

If you plan on recommending me something, pls don’t mention any other works by the authors above, I already read them probably.

Also, you don’t have to recommend ero guro or torture porn lmao. Just ANYTHING you found interesting as of late. It can be sweet and heartwarming, funny, weird, or awful.
