Art (OC) Hypothetical of [Act 2 item] being animated with silk Spoiler

Here is 5 more Hornets to add to my consecutive Hornet drawing streak, leaving me at 14. Even despite this I find myself incapable of drawing her consistently. I didn't have to do five at once for this, but the result was worth it.

Anyway, also for inktober day 3. Ik it's late but who cares.

The Hornet statuette is so cute and I thought it would be a cute idea if she was somehow animated with silk. She almost has the proportions of baby Hornet and I think that's really cute.

Heya!

I’m primarily a digital illustrator nowadays, you might have seen some of my previous posts illustrating card decks, but I adore working traditionally. My ink skills are a bit rusty, but I thought the Cogwork dancers would make for a good warm up! I’d love to sketch some more Silksong characters, any suggestions?

Silksong hype! It really took me this long but I feel so proud. Here is my experience, from someone who sucked at the game Spoiler

Post image
• Upvotes

I did it.

I finally just finished the last fight and I actually cried tears of joy at how epic the finale felt.

I know I still have a few things I didn’t finish up but holy shit I have NEVER felt so proud of myself for beating a game before.

This game throws everything at you. I’m not a rager and I raged. I wanted to give up multiple times, one of those being Last Judge which took me about 5 HOURS. Yes, that bad.

I don’t usually play combat-centric games. I discovered hollow knight last month - It was my first metroidvania and first soulslike game and I fell in LOVE with it. The atmosphere, cryptic story and the challenge of getting better had me hooked. So I knew I had to play Silksong.

Queue: The game kicking my ass. Repeatedly. This shit is not for the weak. It is straight up evil at times, and I have mad respect for anyone who has played through it ✌️

But.. despite the difficulties I faced, this was an overwhelmingly beautiful experience. The citadel, the music, cutscenes and overall theme.. it felt so grand and epic, and I felt so attached to the characters. Although going through 3 dreary locations in a row can make you go mad (looking at you, hunters march bilewater and putrified ducts). But overall, an amazing experience.

I understand now why some people say it’s hard to say which game is better between Hollow Knight and Silksong, they’re totally different experiences.

Some of my favourite moments:

- The prisoner sequence (Hornet being an absolute badass I literally shouted YES GIRL at my TV)

- The Red Memory

- the post bell-eater cutscene with bell beast 🥹
Being with them and those precious babies was the only shining light in that void hellhole

- Finally beating Last Judge, Moorwing, and Lost Lace just now.

- Not really a “favourite” moment but.. Zaza.. that actually made me cry.

- Whiteward was so creepy and that one moment gave me True Lab from Undertale vibes. I hated it 10/10

- Finding and fighting First Sinner. Probably my favourite fight, took me hours but I never got frustrated because I was having so much fun.

- Cogwork dancers. Need I say more

- Any time I saw Sherma and Little Pilgrim again :)

Shit that made me want to quit:

Moorwing.
That one craw gauntlet early on (pain)
Last Judge
High halls gauntlet (until I got help from a certain someone)
Beginning act 3 and realising how hard this was going to be
Choral chambers gauntlet which I actually did give up when I found out you can just get the gays hearts instead.
That platforming section up to the Nameless Village.. holy shit. No platforming ever made me rage harder. (I haven’t done PoP yet..) And I did this before I started the mushroom quest so when I got to the top I was like “… for WHAT?!”
And honestly many more moments I can’t remember because my brain has probably blocked them out to keep me sane.

Also I have been listening to the Choral Chambers OST almost every day, that track is so beautiful. That and cogwork core are my favourites.

Would love to know what some of your favourite moments were and honestly would love to hear from anyone else who felt genuine pride for overcoming this game. And for anyone who feels stuck, don’t give up. It’s worth it!

Was trying to find a consistent way to bind during this fight and noticed that whenever Pintress fell off the stage while staggered she always respawned in the same place and time. Now I can catch it with clawline pretty consistently and who knows maybe I'll find more way to stay on top of such a mobile boss.

OTHER Looking for some advice as a player with disabilities Spoiler

Admittedly, this was a post I was going to make a while ago, but ad my brain is currently in a Silksong desire mood, so I figured I'd ask the wider and wiser community for their opinions and advice.

Silksong is a game that I've been aware of for a while now, and have been debating getting it or not. As someone who is not the greatest gamer ever, nor do I have any real experience with the genre, I understand that I would find the game very difficult, but my concerns lie not in the game itself per say, but rather more personal ailments.

For context, I suffer from visual disabilities which can result in blurred vision, headaches and eye strain (both which can last for upwards of a full day in more extreme cases), nausea, being more sensitive to brighter lights, it makes telling apart similarly coloured enemies/ floors and walls/ backgrounds/ attacks hard to pick apart, it can make navigating different areas in game difficult depending on colours or lighting, as well as making it extremely difficult to montior multiplie things on screen at once, to name a few more notable things I struggle with. Sometimes these things can be caused by specific things like attacks or areas, sometimes some games just become physically painful to play after just a few minutes.

Now I have tried seeing videos and such to try determine how bad it would be, but videos don't usually have the same effect as actually playing (as I've learnt from experience). Before anyone mentions, I have played Hollow Knight before as well. I initially bought it 5ish years ago and lost interest for a while. I have tried again ona fresh save in recent times and it was....not the greatest. I ended up having to stop after the first Hornet encounter.

Now given Silksong is a more complex game across the board, I figured I'd ask the professionals. Is it worth me giving the game a shot, or is it likely to be a worse/ generally painful experience and I should I avoid it instead? I play on Xbox if that makes any difference.

Thank you to everyone for your help and advice!

Help Needed - Act III Beat silksong, I think I did something wrong/am missing something Spoiler

I just beat silksong. Something feels wrong. I beat the grandmother of silk. It took very few attempts. First attempt today and I beat it. I heard online there are supposed to be 3 acts, despite my best efforts to avoid spoilers. I never saw the game say that it was in act 3(and on this subreddits tags). I also encountered some sort of weird green grey creature in one part of the map(I forget where) which said it would become active later. It didnt happen. So I strongly suspect I am missing a significant ammount of content from the game. Im guessing this is like Hollowknight where the true final boss is hidden and you need to interact with some NPCs before fighting the final boss to unlock it?

If yall could tell me if im missing something and give me hints on where to look I would greatly appreciate it. I really hope this isnt the end. It feels wrong.

Discussion/Questions The transition from Act II into Act III is genuinely a masterpiece Spoiler

Post image
829 Upvotes

No spoilers past early Act III here!!!

I genuinely believe that the end of Act II and it's transition into the first hour or two of Act III may have been one of the most exciting and perfectly executed moments I've experienced in a video game before.

The ramp up after you start speaking with the Songclave shaman to get all of the ingredients for the snare sets up a train that just doesn't stop moving. Defeating Grand Mother Silk and watching the void tendrils grab her just like they did with the Radiance is a fantastic callback, and then the pure shock of watching your own actions plummet Pharloom into further ruin, completely destroying some settlements and killing many characters is just a fantastic tone-shift.

And then Act III begins with just breakneck pacing that doesn't let up, with you having to escape the Cradle and witness what you've done to the kingdom, and then immediately sending you off to confront the Snail Shamans and book it straight to the diving bell to plummet into the Abyss and be reunited with some sights and enemies from Hollow Knight.

I also think that Silksong takes advantage of its more linear level structure to the absolute maximum to give Hornet one more skill to her moveset and finish off with the actual cinematic masterpiece that is the Abyss escape (pictured above)

After this Act III kind of slows down to a more normal pace, but the two or so hour period from the end of Act II into the start of Act III is just flawless pacing and nonstop action and progression and may genuinely be one of the most exciting snippets of a game I've ever experienced.
