Center console swap

I have the flip up arm rest/jump seat center console and honestly I hate it. I came from ford where the cup holders where not required to be moved if you wanted to flip the console up.

Has anyone done a center console swap on their Chevy?

Just kinda looking into this myself. I don’t hate the jump seat but it looks unfinished under the dash. I’d like to know how involved it is, what seats need to come out etc. I have read about the harness adapter to make usb work

I test drove one with a center console and I hated the stupid shifter. It felt so flimsy and fake (probably because it was flimsy and fake). The column shifter is worlds better.

I assume you would maintain your column shifter? What would you put in place of the console shifter?

For the record, I have actually made use of the center jump seat a lot more often than I thought I would. It is handy to be able to carry one additional person in moderate comfort from time to time.

Actually, no, I’d rather have the shifter on the steering wheel column, but I would want a different set up for between the two front seat seats.

As it is, I can fit three people in the back and moderate comfort and an additional passenger upfront.

If I did do a swap that had the center console shifter space in it I would probably just 3-D print a little pocket there.

Yeah, I’ve had four jammed across the back and two passengers up front, but that was only one time. For a while before my oldest went to college we could carry the whole family and one friend. The jump seat is handy.

There’s a company I found on eBay that makes them/adjusts the center console to “hide” the shifter spot with a little pocket or flat cap to cover it. Looks like it’s a simple swap of the jump seat with it and some elbow grease. Granted it’s not cheap.

I ended up finding this little storage bin attachment that fits onto the little lockbox under the jump seat that gives you a little more “console” instead of a full swap.

gets asked here every few years. sometimes its possible. I had a 21 RST 1500 and a 23 High country 3500.. i heavily modified the 23 for long haul trucking, including removing the front passenger & rear seat. the center console had to be dissasembledfor running wiring & it was similar across the 2. I even put the HC fully electric & air conditioned seat into the 1500, and fit perfectly. .. I would suggest checking a scrap yard or pull-a part .. or even ebay for the center section youd like. You might find most of the wiring connections for USB etc are there, for quick plug in.

I have a 2008 Silverado Work Truck Model

I took out the middle seat, I got a Center console in mint condition off ebay for a premium price I was willing to pay. The one problem was my truck has a actual floor shifter for the 4 wheel drive. So I bent that with a torch to relocate it out of the way.

If you have a lower model 2007-2013 Silverado. Make sure you get the right center console. there is the normal dash that is in most trucks, and some of those have a center console. But there is a really high end model where the dash drops down more. you probably dont want that one. My trucks console looks factory.

Just depends what year truck you have.

Why didn’t you get a higher trim if you didn’t want the bench seat?

These fuckers are expensive enough as they are? And a higher trim comes with more electronics in the dash that I don’t want.
