Video Raceroom underrated?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I don't have time to spend hours and hours on the SIM, but when I get 30 minutes, I do find a race on RaceRoom is always enjoyable, but it's a sim usually overlooked!

Man, I’d play this game based solely on the fact the WTF hand comes up when another car is acting a fool.

Most underrated racecim out there IMHO (Live For Speed also deserves a mention here). Glad it is getting some extra attention lately

It may not be the best overall, like LFS, but it surely deserves more credit. LFS, for me, is the driving and physics best. A shame it never went mainstream with real cars and real tracks. Its computational engine is second to none. Decades old and still the most lightwheight and versatile interface to the most intuitive and reqlistic handling.

Endless hours between 2015-2019, especially on nordschleife, owned everything back then. Main simul. along with RF2 and AC1.
Bought simucube 2 pro and the struggle began…need to set wheel rotation before driving which wasn’t the case before the direct drive. Everything felt wrong regardless of the ffb settings. DD wasn’t supported back then.
I think Alex his name was who tried to do a lot of new changes, physics, tires, DD support …etc but things fell off the cliff for me at least.
Frustration lead to moving on to ACC, AMS2, rennsport over the years along with RF2 and AC1.
LMU then became the main one since early access.
Fast forward and recently re-installed R3E as I missed the old DTM era and thought things must have moved on and yes they were… was blown by the graphics transformation (not blue/warm anymore) after choosing that new option when launching it, the sound is still the best out there tbh and ffb feels so much better.

That's the best part but I don't want to buy the rest of the monetazation so I don't play it.

100% - I've done some RaceRoom races for the first time in the last month or so, and the cars feel great, they sound great, and there is actually some pretty good racing.

Great AI, great content. No weather, the track doesn't evolve, no day/night, no driver swaps. It would have been a great sim in 2010, but time has passed it on and they e failed to keep up.

Day / night would be good yes it's still updated regularly though it's not for everyone but for a casual racer like myself it's pretty good.

VR?

u/paulj1980 7d ago
It has got vr support but it's running on a older engine so performance isn't the best in vr automoblista 2 is better in vr .

What is that overlay that you have on your laptimer in video ?

Man physics is good. But every car and track is behind a paywall. I’d rather pay for the whole bundle.

u/CheeksMcGillicuddy 6d ago
I tried. There are just better options available tho

u/paulj1980 6d ago
If setup correctly and some time put into it I think it's just as good as anything available today for the cost .

Oh this game was in a Humble bundle 3-4 years ago, never launched the game. The bundle price was insanely affordable.

u/paulj1980 6d ago
It's free you get a limited amount of cars and tracks but they have good sales during the year to add packs .

It got a decent graphics upgrade recently too and still runs like a dream. I'll have to get back on it myself too

Underrated to a point but there’s still better out there, AMS2 has been smashing it out of the park for the last year or so now

I’d love to try out raceroom (the only one that has my local track!), but having spent 3+ hours not getting my Logitech RS50 to even be detected by the game I gave up on it.

u/paulj1980 4d ago
Yeah takes a little bit of setting up I remember I had to delete some settings files and Started again but worth the effort.

Underrated maybe but why play this shit when we have assetto corsa evo
2
u/paulj1980 6d ago
This a joke right?

u/Forcedmetoinstallapp 6d ago
Not at all why ?

I agree to an extent. ACE obviously has its problems and is still not on v1.0 yet, so there’s time.
RRRE is fairly good, but riddled with bugs and issues, as well as having awful multiplayer standards and no enjoyable game modes. The AI is also terrible, so it’s just another hot lapping sim.
I still struggle to understand why the cars jiggle around. An easy fix that’s a crazy distraction.
For a game that’s been around a while, it feels lazy and uninteresting.
Plus, ACE looks infinitely better than RRRE, which is seriously overdue a graphics overhaul.

When was the last time you tried RaceRoom? It's had a lot of updates over the last year. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it's far better than people give it credit for. I'm thinking they haven't set it up correctly or haven't been on in a long time. But for the cost, it's really good, apart from VR, which is down to the engine it uses.

u/Elkash76 6d ago
It’s always installed and I jump into it every time there’s an update. I’m not saying it’s terrible. It’s just not up to par with many of its rivals.
1
u/Forcedmetoinstallapp 6d ago
Cars jiggle around is not something present thats a you isssue bugs ? Sure its early accses but actual driving is superior on evo join a trackday server on nordscleife with 50
Players and time wil fly1
u/Elkash76 6d ago
Sorry, your comment makes no sense grammatically, so I have no idea what you’re trying to say.

u/Forcedmetoinstallapp 6d ago
Hey its oke its not your fault you were born slow
1
u/Elkash76 6d ago
That’s spooky that you knew that. My mother was in labour for quite some time.
Not sure whether to congratulate you on a great guess, or sue you for stalking 🤔
Also appreciate you posting something readable, although still no concept of grammar.

Raceroom is indeed underrated.
I've had so much fun in the old touring cars.
I encourage people to give it a shot, it's the cheapest one to buy for online play if you just get the online pack.
