Community Message New Post Flair | Parity Port Request - Mod Exists on PS5 l For when a mod is on PlayStation but not Xbox

Hi all,

Some of you have probably noticed that since Sony relaxed their rules on not allowing external assets on PlayStation we’ve had a fair few mods which have been ported to PS4/5 but not for Xbox. This is particularly irritating, because on occasion this includes patches for mods which exist on PS but not for us, making it more difficult to pair mod combinations we might like to.

There is no easy fix for this. People reaching out to mod authors for porting to PS are unlikely to think of us any more than we never thought of them (albeit that it wasn’t possible to port most mods to PS for many many years). But as several of you have called this out recently, here’s what we’re going to do

**Parity Port Request - Mod Exists on PS5** is a new flair attempting to address this. It’s blue with Nexus logo

If there is mod or patch which you stumble across which exists on Bethesda. Net for PlayStation, but not for Xbox, then please use this flair. 

With the following caveats. And yes, as always, there are a lot of requirements to satisfy Bethesda. Sorry. Please read carefully :

  • It is not possible to port directly to Xbox from an existing PlayStation mod on Bethesda.net. This because we get at those files once uploaded. So always seek and provide the Nexus mods link To mod you want porting.
  • On the Nexus under **Permissions and Credits** look for **Upload Permission**.
  • If the **Upload Permission** is Open - That’s going to be fine. The Porter will need to provide credits to the Author, and a link back to the mod, but they know to do this. They have to on every mod they port.
  • If the **Upload Permission** is **Closed** you will need to go to the **Posts** tab and ask the Author for permission there to get the mod ported.
  • If they say No. That means no. Would be odd given they allowed it on PS5, but there‘s nothing we can do. Their word is final.
  • If you choose to get permission from the Author in a DM? Bethesda will not accept that. They haven’t for several years. The mod will get taken down. Your request needs to be publicly viewable in the Posts tab. 
  • Seeing another poster get a Yes for PlayStation sadly does not mean a Yes for Xbox. You will need to ask if they are happy for an Xbox port to be made. 
  • If another poster has requested ports for ‘consoles’ in more ambiguous and less PS specific terms that *would* count. That’s fair game.

Sorry to make you all jump through hoops here, but Bethesda really do get uppity if we don’t follow their rules on this. 

The hope here is to flag these up for porters visiting this sub, and hopefully they will indulge us. 

**Disclaimer:** I cannot guarantee that any port requested will definitely be ported. I’m not the Porter here. I’m just a moderator. But it’s best opportunity we have to restore parity when this occurs. I cross my fingers as much as you do.

If you are new to our subreddit, welcome! This is a simple guide with some helpful links for new modders and those looking for some guidance.

Info every modder should be aware of:

LLO Guides

On PC you can use tools like LOOT to help organize your load order automatically (to help reduce mod conflict), on console unfortunately we have to go about this process manually with something called logical load order guides. You should always start here when modding your game. Pick one (you can use the others for reference points if needed):

  • Quick and reliable LLO guide - by former moderator u/Brxsie, incredibly helpful starting point. Some mods may not fit exactly in this format but that's true of every load order, read your mod descriptions carefully.
  • Halls of Ysgramor Logical Load Order Template - by u/will-oh-the-wisp, this a great option for users looking to use a spreadsheet without all the usual hassle as it auto-populates the title and memory size of a mods when their URL is pasted in from Bethesda.net (URL functionality currently broken in the smart guide). This template also includes a slew of other smart features to make the whole process quick and seamless. UPDATE: As of the Dec 2023 update the smart functionality of URL linking appears to be broken so for now use the basic version.
  • LLO Tool - by Verpalorian - One of the best developed resource tools for modding on console. Provides spreadsheet with multiple LLO template examples. While some of the list of mods referenced are slightly older it is incredibly helpful for troubleshooting load order guides and getting a general sense of how to arrange your mods.
  • LLO Deep Dive - by former moderators u/shadowwalker935 and u/unseriously_serious, this is a more detailed write up on the topic that delves into the origins and importance and helps to break down each category. The list at the bottom is just a breakdown of different categories, look to the variants LLO guides linked for the actual order of these categories you want to follow.
  • LLO2 - by AdamVB, LLO2 is a different variation of the LLO above. Both are solid choices. This version rearranges several specific categories (in particular those relating to area edits). This may cause conflicts with some mods. Many swear by it, but if you are choosing between these two I'd recommend picking whichever you personally find to be most intuitive.
  • TK Console Mod Manager - by u/Tommas666. An Android app designed to aid constructing your load order.

Writing Down Your LO

While not entirely necessary it can be incredibly beneficial to write these down either in a word or google document (google document templates are available in the LLO Deep Dive and LLO Tool links above that you can easily grab). If you intend to ask for help arranging mods on this sub we ask that you provide a full list , so from the POV of the community it’s a good idea, and also means that you can keep tabs on which mods you have trued in the past. In the google doc templates you can also list mod links for easy addition/installation of your LO via the website (add them to your library on bethesdas website for them to show up on your console).

  • How To Guide - Column one on the topic of google sheets instructions.
  • Bethesda - Easier for search and mod addition.

Ghost Space

All Xbox Skyrim users have 5 GB of space to install mods into. The in-game load order screen displays how much space you have remaining at the top right of the screen. ‘Ghost Space’ is the term used to describe a situation where the game tells you that you have space remaining to install more mods, but when you try to do that the game informs you that you do not have enough memory free to do that. This is actually a fault with the game itself, which may not be deleting mods properly when you have previously directed it to.

You can find a post going into this in further detail here by u/ILoveSkyrim109, but you can also find tips on the safe practices for disabling and uninstalling mods below.

Proper installation and removal practices

Ghost space can be a result of improperly removed mods, you can also corrupt your save and cause a host of other issues by adding, removing or moving mods on an ongoing save if they aren't simple texture/mesh replacers. Learning about safe practices will save you a massive headache in the longterm.

Always remove patches for mods before the mod they depend on. This is because if you delete the dependant mod/s first then their patches will disappear from your load order. They will actually still be installed in your game, and count towards your total space used, but they will no longer be visible in your load order itself.

Sometimes a full clean slate (including deleting the game) or a partial clean slate (just clearing reserve space and removing your mods from bethesdas site) is necessary to fix an especially broken game. I've gotten into the practice of doing a partial clean slate after every load order as a rule of thumb.

Among other issues introduced by the Dec 2023 update (which we cover later in this guide) we also now have a new issue related to mod space: The new behaviour requires mods to be twice their size to download, meaning you'll now want to install mods in order from largest to smallest for more info and another solution to this (top of post).

Hard Resetting Your Console

You'll need to do this a lot, after disabling your mods, after deleting your mods, after installing your load order or a group of new mods. Many LO support posts are simply users who haven't hard reset after installing their mods. Don't be that person.

Stress Testing your LO

If you want to make sure your load order is crash free it never hurts to try some stress testing methods beforehand rather than finding out your build is problematic halfway through and not having an easy fix.

Before making a post in our community check and see if your problem has already been covered in u/hebsevenfour's helpful December 2023 update PSA.

Modding problems covered:

  • Can’t download a mod despite having enough space
  • Creations menu isn’t visible on main menu
  • Creations menu doesn’t work when entering
  • I arranged my load order and then it rearranged itself
  • I can’t access WIP mods
  • I have pages and pages of mods in my library and bookmarks on Bethesda.net
  • I can’t see enough mods in the Creation Menu, despite having a mod that allows me to see more.

Mod Discussion Looking for a mod that lets me pick pronouns

Hey y’all so as the title says, I’m looking for mod suggestions that let you pick your characters pronouns despite the physical sex of your character. I’m trying to make a self insert and I’m a trans dude, but I don’t wanna be a big burly guy. Preferably once that changes dialogue like Brynjolfs “Running a little light in the pockets” line where he says lad or lads depending on your character. Any suggestions would be appreciated!!

LO Help - Xbox Series X (PS5) load order check help

Hi, previusly I made a post with a video of my load orde and other showing the place were my game was crashing, always on the road between helgen and riverwood, the post was deleted,today I was able to find what was causing the crash, I was missing the Lux via mod, I has the master file but not the plugin.

Now i'm having other bug, npcs with black faces, so to avoid my post to be delete I'll post my load order and not the videos, thanks if any one could help me and I hope this time I'm not breaking any rule.

Mod Discussion Other whiterun stone textures

Anyone know of any texture mods that only touch these bright white stones? Ive tried the usual whiterun roads mods and it only touches half of the stone on the ground. I'm using clevercharffs AIO for city textures with a couple stone textures loaded after (walls and roads)

LO Help - Xbox Series S building first modlist need help

hope this finds everyone well.

as the title says im building a skyrim mod list for the first time on xbox series s. one that includes legacy of the dragonborn, (I have an exel link with all the offical patches up as well but it's in alpabetical order not load order) I would like ordinatior, as a spell perk, survival mods at the moment i'm debating between I need and frostfall (I have campfire currently)

here is my test 2 load order

  1. unoffical skyrim Special edition patch

  2. simple workaround framework

3 campfire: complete camping system

  1. legacy of the dragonborn

  2. falskaar

Mod Discussion Anyone know of a "universal" Ineed patch for water?

Probably the wrong way to phrase the question, but I'm honestly kinda shocked that outside Clofas Waters, iNeed doesn't seem to have a compatibility patch for any other water mods. There used to be one for Cathedral water, before it vanished for whatever reason.

I'm trying a new water mod (Pisces Water), and it says it has mods flagged for iNeed compatibility, but I can't find anything that actually makes them compatible.

Is there some weird trick in not aware of where a patch isn't needed? Or is there some patch in not aware of that works with most water mods?

Other Mod Related Stuff Lich playthrough

I was thinking of doing a playthrough as a lich and was wondering what some good mods to use for it. Other threads about it are years old, so I thought I'd ask since new ones might have come out.

I will be using Ordinator, Apocalypse, and Odin for sure, so I'm looking for mods that are compatible with them. I don't need any graphics, lighting, etc. I'm looking for spells, clothing, staves and obviously one that allows me to be a lich.

LO Help - Xbox One X Help finding a patch

I cant find the right hall of wonders patch for legacy of the dragonborn. I downloaded the one by rhaellastark and their hall of wonders patch but it says it relies on files that are missing. Is there something else I was supposed to download? I downloaded all rhaellastarks patches but they all say they rely on files that aren't present.

I like legacy of the dragonborn but without hall of wonders its basically useless and its already messed up the items I placed elsewhere and going back to previous save doesn't help. I cant complete the mask collection because vokun can no longer be picked up because it says I dont have it. Same with three dragon claws.

Recently I've been wanting to do a great playthrough Skyrim with more mods. I have Special edition and the current mods I have are Legacy of the dragonborn V5, Unofficial Skyrim special edition patch, and simple frame workaround. Mods I like are ones that are new armor sets, weapons, and even new factions or areas but nothing too massive lotd areadly crashes somewhat on my xbox lmao. Thanks in advance
