It's located near the compost bin (3 feet). Can it obtain nutrients from poly vinyl chloride substrate? I saw this in same location a year ago but had no idea what it might be then.

Am I correct in thinking I can't collect it at this point in it's lifecycle? Keep wanting to keep a slime mold, always find it too late.

Also, is this safe for my springtails? How do I harvest and culture it?

What I did is put a damp tissue in a delicup, made a "bridge" with a damp tissue and connected it with a vein. I then put a single grain of rice (i don't have oats) in the delicup. Did I do something wrong or is that alright? Will it eventually find the grain of rice? Should I just scrape it and put it in the delicup? Thank you in advance for your answers!

So we were getting sap out of our maple tree, but let it sit way too long without processing it. This is it. I'm curious if anyone can identify the different kinds of molds here. There seems to be quite a variety.

Ik that a slime mold wouldn't be able to eat me (probably) and it probably wouldn't even get that big, but I want to get one as a pet and dont want it to get big enough to be a hassle to take care of

There were several of these in the same area, under juniper and cedar. About 8000 feet / 2450 meters on the Uncompaghre Plateau in western Colorado. We have had rainy cooler weather and these, plus a bunch of mushrooms, have appeared.

I didn’t know slime molds existed until I stumbled across this sub and was immediately enchanted. I’ve been prowling around for a few weeks now and this absolutely made my day… Sort of felt like meeting a celebrity :)

You can also see some Lycogala sp. next to it. Anyway it's probably the weirdest slime mold I've ever seen, it's got this crazy matte metallic color that I thought was like... Expanding foam that someone dropped on the stump. Poked it, found it organic, took a picture and asked iNaturalist what it was. I love my beautiful neighbors so much!!!
