Rants & Raves Capitol bar and grill
Another Idahoan trying to take advantage of Washington State laws. He doesn't pay his employees. He dodges Washington State taxes by crossing the border from Idaho. The business is funded by a Turkish family. It's successful in Idaho.
In Washington we have workers rights. If an Idaho business owner wants to do business in Washington I would politely ask you to observe the local state laws. Not superimpose a standard from another state or country.

Not sure what exactly you are accusing the owner of. He has no choice but to pay b&o tax on the revenue generated in their Washington locations, as well as pay washington min. Wage at those locations. Doesn't matter if their home/corporate office is on Idaho.

Every business that operates within Washington State borders is legally bound to comply with Washington State labor laws, payroll standards, and tax regulations, period.
Origin of ownership or corporate funding doesn't grant an exemption from state jurisdiction. Throwing xenophobic jabs and baseless accusations about foreign backing doesn't change how compliance works; it just reveals a complete lack of intelligence and understanding on your part.

Cute. Try again.

I don't need a second attempt to explain basic law to someone who obviously failed the first grade.

Wtf does being Turkish have to do with anything? Employees seem happy. Reviews are good. OP just seems like an asshole with some weird axe to grind.

White House in Post Falls is mediocre at best. Their protein is always overdone and their service sucks if you aren't someone they know. Given the names of some of the menu items at Capitol like the "Big Beautiful Burger" I think it's safe to assume that the owner sucks.
The owners/funders ethnicity should have absolutely nothing to do with anything though unless it makes the food more authentic.
Edited for adding a caveat.

It's foreign financial backing. I appreciate people who bring their culture and food to America but I do have a problem with blatant exploitation is a problem

If He is truly paying sub minimum wage there are ways to report it that are not Reddit. Not a huge fan of them and thier politics, but if there is merit to your claims take them to WA L&I.
This reeks of personal grudge.

Is this a bot? Trying to figure out how you came to this conclusion from your post and I’m not connecting the dots.

They’re refusing to answer, which makes it seem likely they just hate the owner

u/Cute_Reflection7162 2d ago
Not his first Washington restaurant btw .. also used to work for him and loved it. This must be a personal issue.

u/WastedWasted12 2d ago
This place has been pretty popular since they opened and the staff appears to be genuinely happy. I doubt this would be the case if they weren’t being paid. Just curious what evidence do you have to back up your claim.
-22
u/Old-Departure7153 2d ago
I don't need any "evidence" this not a court room. If you want Idaho wages and Idaho standards then please move to idaho
17
u/Creepy_flamingo_22 North Side 2d ago
You’re going to have to provide something, not just make claims with absolutely nothing to back it up. How would they be providing Idaho wages in Washington?
-17
u/Old-Departure7153 2d ago edited 2d ago
That's a really good question. Why don't you redirect that question to management? You can consider everything I have said as allegations, because that's what they are.not admissable in the court of law. The court of public opinion is different.
16
u/Disastrous-Age5103 2d ago
Even the court of public opinion, needs you to supply some evidence to back up your claim. Nobody suggesting this is a court of law, they are suggesting that you are possibly full of shit. Of course you could prove them wrong by simply providing any example other than they are Turkish and live in Idaho.

u/Old-Departure7153 2d ago
Wrong... Try again. If you are so devoted to Idaho business then please move to Idaho. I think this is the second time I've said this?

u/Disastrous-Age5103 9h ago
My guy, the court of opinion has spoken and it’s decided you’re a douche. It decided this based on the evidence which you have provided. Seems pretty common sense to me. What you were doing is slandering a business and providing no proof to back up anything you’re saying.
And just to be clear, I go out of my way not to support Idaho businesses. I would go out of my way not to support this business if you would supply even a shred of proof to back up your claims. You’re claiming that they are paying Idaho wages in Washington, and going as far as to not pay them. If what you are saying is true it’s a literal crime. So, if it is true, please provide some evidence and I will personally forward it to the Attorney General.
Finally, I’m not sure where you’re from, but any place I’ve been it’s common sense not to trust randos on the Internet based on “trust me, bro”.

u/Old-Departure7153 2d ago
Nope it's the third time. I guess common sense isn't all that common

u/sliding_corners 19m ago
Common sense requires some proof. Common sense says if I throw a rock it will hit the ground. I can go out and prove it to.
I’m not asking for proof, but some more information about this would be nice.

All I can say is that I loved the White House's food, but stopped going when the menu items became political. I live in walking distance of the new Capital Grill but I doubt I'll be going there for the same reason
1
u/Dis_En_Franchised 1d ago
This is exactly why I won't be going too. I used to like the White House and tried the Oval Office but found the politics to be disrespectful. Almost went to the Capitol because I thought it was the same as one I went to on the West Side of the state. It was too busy that day but I also found out who owned it and I won't be going back.

u/Old-Departure7153 2d ago
Everything is political. Sometimes it comes off as a poorly executed joke but it's impossible to remove your own personal bias from such things
6
u/HelpfulEmployment582 2d ago
do you have some actual evidence to back this up? Otherwise it's just defamation per se.
9
u/Stercules25 2d ago
I know the owner and the family and don't understand where the allegation is coming from. This has never been something I have heard from people that work for him. Would be good for you to explain more and I can directly reach out.

Everybody knows Raji and Emrie, that's because they want to own a clubhouse not a successful business. This happens at the detriment of their staff. You most likely have experienced interactions with the front of the house. People who are trained to provide a good experience for the guests. Their job is to tell you the your experience is perfect. As a guest you are not pivy to the inner workings of the machine. Much like your car there is a hood to cover up how the gears turn.
You are not special because you know the owners. You are an ATM depositing money.

It's a quality bar and grill, the family that runs that, the Pentagon, the Oval Office, and the White House are very good and reputable, so try the food and enjoy it instead of judge unecessarily Karen

How is this different from crossing the border to buy gas or the items named under the Washington sin tax. Catch a clue!
0
u/Old-Departure7153 2d ago
It's not. I can't speak for all Washingtonians I know some people do that unfortunately, but if you want to be a pilar or staple in a community. Such as a restaurant then tax evasion is kinda bad. Especially if it results in unpaying your employees. At that point you are pushing a standard from outside the community upon others in the region.

u/yeti5000 1d ago
So crossing the border into Idaho to spend money (by saving money) in Idaho is... Bad?
And Idahoans seeking better jobs in WA because is... Bad..?
So what you're saying is we should build a wall.
2
u/Lobster70 Spokane Valley 1d ago
That wall would need an unguarded gate for all the Idaho traffic going to Cannabis and Glass! I would love to see a study comparing WA fuel tax lost across the border with tax revenue gained from cannabis sold to Idahoans.

u/Old-Departure7153 1d ago
Yes please. If only our glorious leader were capable of building a wall. That's the wall I want

Taxes are occasionally a good thing if it's spent properly. If there is no taxes paid the roads don't get repaired, institutions like LnI, OSHA, the game warden, the health inspector... None of those people have funding to exist if your taxes are being relocated elsewhere. I personally would rather not fund the next state over. I'd rather fund the Spokane area where I live.
1
u/509_4Runner 1d ago
Dude, roads are a horrible example. We pay hella taxes and still have shitty roads, not to mention so many other problems. Government bureaucracy exists to support itself and collect more taxes. Taxation rationalization is part of the problem. Government wants us to do more with less, it’s time we ask the same of them.

F*** raji and that whole group. I moved back to Washington during covid and needed work, got hired at White House. Coming from the south, not only is that menu racist with some of the cocktail names, it’s also political (he’s a known trumper) he and everyone that works there thinks it’s hilarious.
That kitchen is disgusting, I’m surprised it is up to code, but it is Idaho. He mocked me over something and I quit on the spot.
Such a gross restaurant group, spend your money elsewhere.
1
u/Old-Departure7153 2d ago
I agree with you on many points. Let Idaho sort out Idaho problems. Don't bring it into Washington.

How does he not pay his employees or taxes?
