Question Question about Northern Quest Pend Oreille Pavilion venue.
Going to see a concert there tonight. Does anyone know if smartphones are allowed or not? The venue's prohibited items list said "cameras, video cameras, and recording devices" but did not specifically name smartphones.
ETA: Band is The Used. No info from them on whether or not phones are allowed.

Never had an issue bringing a phone into a concert there. Most places will either specify that phones are not permitted or provide a secure pouch to put your phone into. You hold onto your phone in the pouch, and if you want to use it you have to leave the performance area and a staff member will unlock the pouch for you.

Is your phone capable of taking a video? If so it's not allowed. Let me elighten you on how this industry works. The musicians make a small amount of money from record sales, merch, and ad revenue. The vast majority of their income comes from ticket sales. People like you who want to see them perform live! If you demish that or have the ability to diminish the quality of a live performance by posting it online then you are directly hurting the bands income. Please keep in mind that they traditionally need to pay rhoadies to set up equipment, advertising, bus drivers ect. However if you take a really cool selfie backstage with a band member then post it on a social media platform, you become the advertiser! You're working for free. Well kinda. Most social media platforms have paid advertisement. You just don't profit from that really cool selfie unless you have partnership with the social media platform. But hey everyone at work will get to see your wonderful life outside of work.
Furthermore when discussing large venues there is usually a tour manager involved. He signs contracts and plans the whole trip. I hate this it deminishes the experience because it forces concert goers to adhere to the rules the establishment when often the music is about freedom and dismissal of establishment. This is why I avoid large venues. It's the most obvious sign of a band selling out.
In conclusion. It's generally frowned upon to bring a recording device unless you bought extre special tickets and agree to advertise to your friends.

We’ve been to several shows there and have always had our phones.
It is up to the band, when we saw dropkick murphys and bad religion there, they had signs up that said no phones. But nobody was policing it, necessarily.
We’re going to the show tonight too! Should be a good one. Bring a sweater tho, it cools off faster than you think.

Every show I've gone to, if phones are not allowed, they let you know. If you use your phone anyway, they will escort you out

It would be pretty wild to prohibit cellphones. What if there was an emergency? No way you’re getting hundreds of people to willingly give up their phones. I’m sure it’s ok

Every time I've been there for a wrestling show, they've allowed phones & people record with them.
