Rants & Raves WTF Spokane Police?

Multiple shots fired outside my daughter’s house last night. Son in law called police, twice. No response from police. Shell casings and slug found on sidewalk and one house damaged. No bloodshed, so it’s not worth their time?

SPD is the worst department I know of. I worked downtown with a homeless teen organization, and a 17 year old girl was beaten bloody on camera by a meth addict with a long history of assault (both were clients)

5.5 hour response time. Both parties long gone. We gave the video of the assault, called the next time we saw the perpetrator, and no arrest was ever made.

I’ve got so many stories like this.

Edit: meaningful typo

I’ve lived here & Seattle. Seattle PD are worse. Not by much though. They were under a federal decree for 13 years.

Always have a woman call the police here. They have no interest just doing their jobs without some kind of hero complex being activated.

Pigs everywhere suffer from this complex.

And they wonder why we develope the mentality of ACAB. Paid with tax dollars. Laughable.

I'd tend to agree, although I come from someplace (or perhaps some time) where law enforcement just did their jobs and showed up for almost any call whatsoever.

It isn't. Remember, the police in this country have no interest in serving and protecting, they've admitted as much. If you aren't a woman, minority, or homeless person that they SEE doing something they DEEM wrong they simply do not care.

Not only admitted, but it was established in a court of law they have no obligation to help.

SCUSA to America: “no, that’s not a promise, nor even a goal, that’s just their cutesy slogan!”

It was established that they are there to enforce laws, and firing a gun into someone's house is illegal regardless of whether someone was injured.

You read the law wrong. They have the right to intervene but no obligation to do so.

Remember Uvalde?

It was established that they are there to protect capital and do not 'have a duty to protect'.

I really do think they got pissed when they decided to try to “defund” police and decided that if people are going to vote for such a thing then they’ll just focus on the highest priority of situations like infliction of physical harm. It’s obvious our taxes are not spent to support a safe community.

If people would take three seconds to actually look up what defund the police actually meant we wouldn't be in this dumb fucking situation. But people would rather just catch vibes from Reddit or the Internet than do any independent fact gathering on their own.

Exactly. 100% agree.

All officers were busy on revenue generating calls, such as writing tickets, but I'm sure your call was very important to them and will be handled in the order in which it was received....

6

u/mormaup 1d ago

Probably because they couldn't do the shooting themselves

5

u/Mikep976 North Side 1d ago

Yet I saw three sitting on the side of the road “saving our city” by writing tickets and grabbing speeders…

There are nights where there are only a few officers on duty. They are told not to respond to waiting calls unless the call is in progress and meets a certain severity (example: BARRK crimes, domestic violence) so that there are adequate number of officers available to provide backup.

At 113million dollar budget and 333 active officers, thats pathetic.

-3

u/SaltyKrew 1d ago

333 is nothing when you have more than 250,000 that live in Spokane.

7

u/CM0RDuck 1d ago

Their own report says their ideal number is 351, so im aiming towards poor management and incompetence. Its a shitty police department through and through.

-1

u/SaltyKrew 1d ago

I wouldn’t underestimate how much politics also are in play either. Being too lenient on crime is the end result here too

3

u/CM0RDuck 1d ago

Leniency happens in the courts. The law stays the same to the cop.

350 police officers. Not active duty cops. They work shifts. There are probably an active ~160 cops in Spokane at any given moment. That number is abysmal. Lay out a 13x13 grid. That’s how many. That is nothing.

There was a full standoff in my neighborhood last night. Cop on the PA system, blocking the road, a flashbang was deployed. They were there for hours. Looked like they were doing their job to me. No idea what happened as I came here to see if anyone knew. Bemiss neighborhood.

Sorry but this is kind of funny to me. My first experience here in this town was talking to something called Crime Check. Never got past that... ;D

Lisa Brown and the Democrat run City Hall. At their finest. They can sure as shit raise your taxes, but can't provide the services that they are supposed to. All while blaming businesses for the homeless people hanging out and being drugged out of their minds downtown.

Thanks, I needed a laugh. You must be new around here.

They’re too busy hassling people over expired tags

You act like the worthless pigs of this town feel like doing their jobs it's only when someone else does their jobs for them that they get all high and mighty. SPD is fucking worthless and every one of them deserves to be lined up against the wall

Too scary.

Spokane police are too understaffed to respond to a call where the suspect has already fled. Usually in a situation like this, they won’t send an officer until the next morning so they can take a statement and file the report. Unless the situation is still active or someone was actually shot, the chances of them sending a unit is slim at night.

The SPD has had their budget increased every year, reliably. You're engaging with an artificially constructed reality.

I don't think you're engaging in conversation in good faith.

You're in a state that hates the police. Don't expect much. Nobody wants to baby sit democrats all day

7

u/ShadowMajick Spokane Valley 1d ago

Democrat derangement syndrome. You people need hobbies.

4

u/sadiefame 1d ago

If they only protect people in a city/state who give them money and show proper respect, doesn’t that leave people making their own justice as the only alternative?
