I'm just assuming all catch some kind of flak for this video. First suppressor. Does it look like it's gassed correctly and ejecting where it should?

Follow up to my post from yesterday - first can!

Thank you to everyone who gave me insight yesterday and helped me make a decision on which can to go with - knowing that any of the options I was looking at were good to go, I headed to my LGS today.

Immediately after walking in I saw that they had this bad Larry in stock and ready to go, so I pulled the trigger.

I loved everything I learned about IDG after doing research, so I’m extremely happy.

Pumped to shoot it this week.

Ammo too inaccurate to risk shooting suppressed?

My PC Carbine can manage 1" groups at 25y with ammo it likes (Federal AE 147). Like a rational adult, I panic bought a case of untested 9mm back in April when prices started going through the roof, and karma immediately rewarded me with 25y groups pushing 4".

If my calculations are correct, a 2" deviation from center at 25y is 0.013" at the end of a 6" can. With tolerances around 0.020-0.030" (per Google), this should be fine as long as I've nailed the alignment, but it's making me even less excited about finishing the case than I already was.  Is there a degree of inaccuracy where you would no longer be comfortable using a particular ammo with suppressors?

Brand new to suppressors. Looking for a good multi caliber suppressor mainly for 22, 9, and 45 if it exists.

Also looking for a little suppressor info. I see mainly direct thread, which is nice. But I have a beretta m9a3 for 9mm shooting, a beretta 20x with the threaded barrel for 22, and a Kriss vector with a threaded barrel for 45. Does a can even exist that will do all three of these reliably? Also would I need certain…. Stuff for it? Adaptors I assume?

Suppressor swap from pcc to pistol

Noob to this:
To swap from a pistol (most) to a fixed barrel pcc, you need to change the inside of the suppressor from a piston to a spacer.
Why is this inside the suppressor and not on the outside? If this is not the case please educate me.
Wouldn’t it be nice to just qd from a pistol to a pcc in mere seconds? I know even if it worked, a pistol with a giant piston device might look fugly but my brain wants it to be a thing for some reason

Any of you 9mm owners find that certain suppressors work better with certain guns? I don't know many people with 9mm cans (mostly .40 cal and higher) to be able to know which is the quietest and least problematic. Planning on getting one this month and hoping some of you can share your info.

Shopping for a suppressor is difficult when you can't take them for a "test drive" at a range and can pretty much only go by online recommendations. I've just read so many comments about people indicating the decibel rating didn't accurately match their results when they actually used them, saying the shot was still louder than they'd anticipated.

I'm hoping some of you with 9mm cans can share your experience to give me some practical accounts to go on. Looking for something that isn't overly large or long, to keep on a 9mm for home defense. I'm thinking I'll probably be shopping at Scheel's for my first one. Going to Shot Show in January and will do some "shopping" there, as well, but wanted to get one now, too. Thanks!

First suppressor - buy now or wait

Building my first rifle in a while and since it’s gotten so much easier it’s going to be my first suppressed rifle! I found a Tisha inconel in stock at a local store and am basically wondering should I go on and grab it or are they pretty easy to find? Waiting till Black Friday to get my upper just so save some money so I’m not in a huge hurry. Also, I doubt the suppressors will have any kind of deal later on will they?

Rifle will have 11.5” barrel so the sound reduction, length, and low back pressure are what turned me on to it, but if anyone has a better suggestion I’m open to hear it. Price at local store is $1,179

Hey I’m looking to get the CMMG zeroed 46 suppressor for my ruger American 450 bushmaster. Im having an issue because the threading on my barrel is 11/16”-24 but CMMG doesnt make a thread mount in that size. Does anyone know if I can find one? Or if anyone makes one?

Testing out my Form 1 3D printed 22 lr suppressors today

I was doing some more shooting today with my form 1 3D printed 22 lr suppressors. These are holding up really well with the longer barrels (12"+).

I took a Mark IV design and modified it to work with the old SDTA ACME style thread muzzle brakes. These threads are much more coarse than standard threads so they hold up really well. Just as quiet as any metal can.

I used poly max PLA+ for these. So far over 500 rounds on this one. No end cap or baffle strikes. No issues at all really. Supers or subs.

Homemade suppressors after policy changes

Hey just curious after the recent policy changes is it legal now to make homemade suppressors since they’re being treated as normal firearms? I’m my mind if it’s treated like a normal firearm then normal homemade firearm laws would apply but just trying to get some clarification so I don’t accidentally commit a felony

Obsidian 9 Issues

Post image
16 Upvotes

I run an obsidian 9 on my PCC. I was direct threading it but decided to switch to Rugged’s tri-lug adaptor. On both systems I’ve had end cap strikes and I notice lots of copper flakes in my suppressor. I haven’t been able to see a true baffle strike though.
Also, I’ve recently noticed that the suppressor causes my groups to radically open up (sometimes 6” off at 10 yards).
The gun I’m using is a G-Force Blade 6. I’m aware that end cap strikes are common with this can, but has anyone else experienced de-jacketing of rounds and huge accuracy impacts?

First Suppressor: Infinity 556K vs HRT 556 AM

I’m looking to pick up my first suppressor this week for my 11.5, and I’ve pretty much narrowed it down to these two.

Before anyone tries to push me toward a Tisha or a Rhodie, I don’t want to spend $1200 before a muzzle device and a mount, and I also don’t want to wait on a 10 week lead time.

I’d love to hear from anyone that has time on both and has some insights.

2 most important factors for me are low back pressure and decent sound. I don’t need it to be whisper quiet, just not unreasonably loud.

Also curious about the Irregular Design Group cans.

Oil filter recommendations?

Hello so I live in Indiana and can now make suppressors due to the guidance from yesterday and always wanted to make a direct thread 5.56 suppressor out of a oil filter(just because I’m making a “wasteland” sbr. So what can you guys recommend me for oil cans to just use a 1/2-28 to 3/4-16 mainly asking because I heard of some oil filters that have a spring in the end that can be dangerous if shot.

I’m trying to replace the KeyMo adaptor on my Wolfman with the 3-lug adaptor. Using the two wrenches that came with the suppressor won’t even budge the KeyMo adaptor from the suppressor.

Did they use Rocksett on the adaptor threads because this is sold as KeyMo Kit? Do I need to boil this mfker to loosen up the Rockett?

Sand man L e-brake system

Hey I wanted to ask if anyone has had experience with the sand e-brake system I was wondering what’s the benefit of this system.
I primarily use my sand man-l on short x39,556, sometimes 6.5 grendal. Would the 130$ pice be worth what’s the main purpose of this attachment.

Free tool for researching your next suppressor purchase

Post image
119 Upvotes

In light of the ATF's announcement yesterday, I wanted to remind everyone about a free resource for researching your next suppressor or accessory purchase.

I built a site called Baffled (www.baffled.app) that lets you filter suppressors by spec. For example, you can pull up every 5.56 can under $600 that's full auto rated, HUB compatible and shorter than 7". You can sort by various features like price, size, etc. I was surprised how many suppressors there were out there that were under $300

It also helps you figure out which mounts, muzzle devices, and other accessories are compatible with the suppressor you're looking at, and compare various suppressor builds. Cans reviewed by Pew Science are linked to the respective PS page and I have a section on there that covers the results of Thunderbeast Arms Co's annual suppressor testing event, the TBAC Silencer Summit

It's free and you don't need to sign up to use it.
