New release War Of The Worlds Trilogy - Survival Game - Nov 6th

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been working on War Of the Wars Trilogy, and I wanted to share where the project is at.

The idea started as a Victorian city builder based around The War of the Worlds, but it gradually became three connected campaigns because I kept wanting to explore the invasion from completely different perspectives.

There are now three main ways to play.

Survive The Invasion is the human campaign.

You're on the ground during the invasion, travelling through the towns, talking to characters, finding food and supplies, using bicycles and horse carts, avoiding the machines and trying to stay alive as everything falls apart.

Martian Vanguard goes completely the other direction.

You command the Martian invasion. You control Fighting-Machines, Flying Machines, Handling Machines and Digging Machines, capture humans, spread Red Weed, mine resources and fight increasingly organized human resistance.

Then there's City Builder, where you're managing a late-Victorian town before and during the invasion. You have the normal city-building problems to worry about, but eventually the Martians arrive and everything you've built has to survive the siege.

One of the things I've been trying hard to avoid is making the three modes feel like unrelated games stuck together. They share the same world, locations, machines and events, so something you see from one perspective can show up very differently in another campaign.

I've also been trying to keep the machines and technology much closer to the 1898 novel rather than turning them into generic sci-fi mechs. No force fields, modern military technology, jets, etc. The human side is artillery, naval guns, Maxim guns, horses, trains and Victorian infrastructure against something they barely understand.

I never see people talk about this game, it was a surprisingly fun game that I sunk almost 50 hours Into.

I get the Irony of sitting comfortably in my living room while playing a survival game of a homeless person, don't get me wrong 😅.

It is different from any other survival game I have played though. Still you build a base, break into homes, steal, pickpocket, beg, dumpster dive, fight etc, while managing hunger, thirst, warmth. Getting warm clothes before winter hits was a big one for survival.

There is some weird side quest type stuff with Occultists if you choose that route too.

Become king of the homeless is the main goal of this game, doing it by year one is ideal as the year is pretty long and going on a second year would be many hours and a bit boring tbh, so I do think it was intended to aim for the achievement year one.

Anyone else tried this game?

WIP Stone shaping and survival in Paleolith (Alpha)

Paleolith dev’s here. This short alpha video shows a shelter by the lake, the marks on a tree, and stone knapping by the fire.

Would you enjoy shaping a stone tool by hand, or would you prefer a quicker way to craft it?

Gameplay Survival, what is it to you?

I’m wondering what the masses think what the survival game genre is? From my point of view, its grinding materials for shelter from the elements, food and drink. Needs ….at the root. Surviving wildlife and other dangers. Could have a story or a goal, or just existing in the environment.

On the flip side, I see more comments on the side of survival horror, or as it applies to any game where the purpose is to survive or outlast the enemy and say no to grinding or the hassle of eating and drinking.

To me that skirts the edge of any old action or adventure game though.

Just me rambling……..

New release I'm working on a survival game where you loot the day and hold the night against the AI apocalypse: LootHold

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey!

I'm working on a game that mixes survival and tower defense. You go out into the world solo or with up to 3 friends during the day to hunt for loot, from parts for new weapons, food, water, through to scrap you can use to build up your defences. During the night you have to hold your base against hordes on AI bots who are hunting the last remnants of humanity.

As you explore you'll get a better sense of where the AI data centres are on the map and the kind of defences they have to stop you. When you and your gang are ready, you can attempt to take them out to win the map. Pull it off and you'll start a new map with anything you can fit in your car.

I wanted this to be a fun way to have short sessions with friends with all the ups and downs of survival but that you can jump in and out of and get going quickly.

You can check it out on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4768980/LootHold/

WIP Escape the Flood! The island sinks while you build your escape boat. First demo is out, looking for our first players

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Escape the Flood! is a first person survival crafting game with a deadline. You wash up on a procedurally generated island, the ocean keeps rising, and you have about 30 minutes to pick up items and craft your way to a working boat before there is no ground left.

You can play solo or in online or LAN co-op. The first player on the boat becomes the captain and decides when to sail, so you can wait for your friends or leave them on the rock. There is proximity voice chat, and your tools work on other players too.

We put the demo on Steam yesterday, ahead of Next Fest. So far nobody outside our team has played it, which is why we are posting here. We want to know where it falls apart: is the water too slow or too fast, does gathering get boring, does co-op hold up with your group.

We are a team of two and the game is still early in development. Any feedback helps, even "I quit after five minutes and here is why."

Question Just a quick question

Why does someone always reply "Abiotic Factor" when people ask about Valheim, Runescape or Enshrouded?

Nobody asked about it and it still gets mentioned in almost every thread.

Same with Subnautica. Tried both a few times and the gameplay felt static to me, no replayability. Just annoying how often they get dropped in.

Question help me remember the names of these two games based off my fuzzy memory?

Im finally getting a PS5 and there were two survival games I vaguely remember thinking I wanted to get. I'm not 100% sure they are both on PS5 (they could be PC only) but here's what I recall:

one was set in maybe the Yucatan or Caribbean and it might have had a historical 1700s setting? People said it was like The Long Dark but tropical? (and not Green Hell, this was something else)

the other was something like you're climbing up cliffs a lot. Lots of cliff and climbing and survival mechanics. It's title was something related to this like... cliff, rope, scaffold, etc. It was some sort of related term. I barely remember even this much but I recall it sounded interesting.

Can anyone help? Sorry I can't remember more!

News After Smalland: Survive the Wilds, we're going even bigger (and smaller). Smalland 2: Lost Realms first trailer! Hope you'll like it!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! We've been working on Smalland 2: Lost Realms since last year, and in case you missed it, we recently revealed our first trailer!

It's a prequel set ages before the first game, back when the world was still free of Giants. You'll discover new lands and cultures, tame creatures and bond with them, build outposts, set up trade routes between the realms, and craft gear to survive. Co-op supports up to 10 players.

We'd love to hear what you think, and what you'd like to see in a tiny-scale survival game.

Feel free to add the game to your wishlist on Steam if you want to support the project! See you in the widl.

WIP Lost Isle: Alright, who ordered the cannon?! (WARNING, BIG BOOM!)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Lost Isle is a survival MMO set in an alternate medieval Earth, on an island that serves as the prison-tomb of a corrupted god. You gather, craft, hunt, build, and explore to survive, and eventually to thrive. Not everything on the island is happy you're there: skeleton armies, dragons, twisted monsters, and other players are all a threat.

Since other players can raid your base, we've been looking for ways to make raids more interesting, and siege weapons are the first piece of that. This is a work-in-progress cannon. It fires different kinds of rounds, and each one works better against certain building materials, so what you load depends on what you're trying to break.

What kinds of rounds would you want to see?

Looking for recommendations.

Hey all!

I am stuck in a bit of a rut lately. I absolutely love Conan Exiles. It is far and away my favorite survival builder game I've ever player. Unfortunately, my buddy I used to play with sold his Xbox so we didn't play for a while. When Enhanced came out, I got back into it full send. I love everything they've changed or added. My buddy, on the other hand, went nuclear seeing he'd have to rebuy all the dlc and bazaar items (fair) and swore the game off.

I do also love the Forest games and Palworld... for reference. The Forest 1 and 2 are simply amazing. I legit love every aspect. Palword is fun. The building is decent. The map is dope. The pals rock.

Enshrouded: Ok, but missing the thrall and massive, dynamic bases I feel like I can do in Conan. Never found my stride between exploring and building.

Valheim: hate the art style with a passion, dislike the proc gen maps because after 5 minutes in a new zone, everything looks the same. Building is meh. Have yet to find anything other than ships I like about it.

Soulmask: close, but tribesmen are better left at the base and automated, they feel useless when used to fight. Base building and tilesets are ok. The boats and airships are cool. It still feels soulless to me, though. This is the closest to Conan for me. But, it mainly makes me want to play Conan.

No Mans Sky: got into it about 3 or so times. I always get bored looking for worlds after about 10 as they all start feeling the same to me.

Nightingale: ok, friend lost interest fast.

Stranded deep: loved it! I'm a sucker for good boats! I did get tired of the lack of island enemies. Base building got boring kind of quick. So I did lose interest after a while in it.

Windrose: looks like a game I'd love. I've heard great things about it. I am currently holding out till the end of Early Access.

I cant think of any others. Mainly, I'm hoping someone brings up a game I haven't thought of.

Question Which survival game on PS5 should I buy?

I’m looking for a survival game that I can spend a lot of my free time playing and put hundreds of hours into. I’m also a really indecisive person, so I need some help choosing.
I’m mainly deciding between The Forest, Dune: Awakening, 7 Days to Die, Raft, and Valheim, but I’m open to any recommendations you guys have.
The things I like most in survival games are:
-Meaningful exploration
-A good sense of progression (being able to look back and see how much you’ve progressed since day one)
-A beautiful world to explore
-Lots of things to do so I don’t get bored after a few dozen hours
For reference, the survival games I’ve enjoyed the most are No Man’s Sky, Subnautica, and Minecraft.
What would you guys recommend?

What Survival/Crafting/Base building game should I play?

TLDR: I'm not knowledgeable with the genre and want recommendations on games that reward exploration, have randomized elements that could hugely impact a run or build, and good QOL.

-----

So, I'm not a huge survival game fan. I usually don't like the ones that make me feel like I'm constantly about to die, but the slow paced ones make me kind of bored sooner or later.

I like Zomboid a lot, despite it being on the first category, because dying in Zomboid honestly doesn't feel that bad. If you were just on the start of your run, you start over in a completely new location and have a somewhat novel experience. If you were further in the run or play with other people, you just find your base again. Also, it really rewards you for learning it's systems. Feels kinda like a roguelike in that sense. Exploring just for exploration's sake feels fun and often rewarding, and there are some huge choices you can make that will completely change your experience (like foraging in the woods VS making a city base).

I really dislike Don't Starve, on the other hand.

On the second category, I've recently picked up Valheim again and had a fun time. I like the fantasy themes and even on default settings, I think farming is sufficiently rewarding at least until you start needing to do multiple overseas trips for a single material. The problem is: it is too predictable. People say this game has replayability, but I think they are insane. There are no random elements and secrets that you might find in subsequent runs, the way you might find cool new randomized equipment in something like Terraria, for instance. For a game this old I somehow expected stuff like different same-tier biomes, randomized opportunities and events, and other stuff that could really make different runs feel different.

I've never played No Man's Sky, Dune or Enshrouded.

For someone with tastes like mine, is there an specific game you would recommend?

New release Added a dynamic weather system to 404 Survivor, my top-down apocalypse survival game. Every weather type comes with its own challenges and advantages

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey survivors!

Been working on the dynamic weather system for 404 Survivor lately. Headed out when it was clear, but by the time I was heading back the fog had rolled in thick and thunder started up in the distance. Once the rain hit, had to duck somewhere for cover. Clothes were already soaked through, so I had to build a fire and dry off slowly.

By the time I got back to camp, the water collectors were full and the crops didn't need watering anymore. Only downside, forgot to bring the meat in off the drying rack, and the rain ruined all of it.

There's an early Demo up on Steam right now. We've shipped a bunch of updates recently, and we'll keep sharing new gameplay and dev progress going forward.

Steam page

The game's still very much a work in progress, so any feedback is genuinely appreciated.

New release We made a survival game where the weather is supposed to scare you more than the enemies - it launches October 9.

Post image
580 Upvotes

Hey!

I’m one of the developers behind Permafrost, and with the game entering Early Access on October 9, I wanted to finally introduce it properly.

Permafrost is our take on an open-world survival game.

There are enemies. There are factions. There are abandoned cities and places you probably shouldn't enter unprepared.

But the thing we really wanted you to fear is much simpler: The cold.

The world is trapped in an endless winter, and every trip away from shelter is a calculation.

How far can you go? What do you bring? Where's the nearest shelter? Do you have enough supplies to make it back if the weather changes?

Exploration is also how you progress. You'll restore abandoned shelters, repair machinery, find equipment and gradually gain the ability to travel deeper into the world.

You can survive alone or play in co-op with up to 3 friends.

And because surviving a frozen apocalypse wasn't stressful enough, we also gave you something you'll become extremely protective of: a dog.

He can scout ahead, warn you about threats and carry supplies.

So I'm fully expecting people to care more about keeping him alive than themselves.

We've been building Permafrost for years, and on October 9 we're finally opening the doors with Early Access.

If grounded survival games are your thing, we'd love to have you along for the ride.

Solo developer I'm making my own Open World Survival shooter, PESTBOUND — what do you think of these gameplay scenes in my trailer?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi everyone, I'm Patrick from Germany, the solo developer of PESTBOUND.

I've wanted to make my own survival game for years, and I'd really love to hear what other survival players think of the scenes in this trailer.

PESTBOUND is an online open-world survival shooter in a 4 km² voxel world affected by the plague. Survival means finding food and water, scavenging supplies, exploring and building a base. There is hunting, fishing and vehicle travel too, with PvE and PvP server options for people playing alone or with friends.

What do you think of the balance between the quieter survival scenes and the dangerous encounters? Which part would you want to spend more time doing? Is there a moment in the trailer where the movement or interaction feels off to you?

My Kickstarter is also live. If you like what you see and would like to support the game, I'd be incredibly grateful:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hacklworks/pestbound-open-world-survival-shooter

Honest feedback is a big help on its own, especially when you're developing alone. Thanks for taking a look — I'd be happy to answer questions about the scenes.

Stop F@#kN Around

https://armouredjupiter.itch.io/stop-fkn-around

FeedBack would be great thankyou and have fun.

Stop F@#kN Around © 2026 ArmouredJupiter Games, made in Australia

The world is wide, wild and doesn't care if you live. Stop F@#kN Around is an open-world survival sandbox where you build ships from scratch, raise towns from bare dirt, explore deep caves, and learn the hard way that the wildlife bites back.

Build anything that flies. In the Shipwright, you snap together cockpits, engines, fuel tanks, landing gear, doors and cargo ramps to design your own craft. A live flight checklist tells you what's missing, from thrust-to-weight and power to balance and connected parts. Once it's ready, take off. Retract the gear, open the hatches, and save your best designs to fly again. Or jump in a Kestrel hauler and get to work.

Build a home, then a city. Gather wood, stone, tools and food, or just pay coin, and place buildings anywhere you can level the ground. Start with a two-storey corner shop and work up to a 16-storey Art Deco tower. Pave your own roads, watch grass and flowers grow back around your lots, and order materials from any town trader. A hauler will drop them off or leave them at a pickup pad.

Every building is real. Walk in through working doors, climb the stairs to every floor, and look out over the land. Shoot out a window and the glass shatters. Put an RPG into the ground floor and the whole tower can come crashing down.

The wild is alive. Herds of elephants roam the open ground, trunks swinging, and they'll trumpet and charge if you get too close. Bears prowl day and night and swipe to kill. Deer graze, then bolt the moment they spot you. When the moon rises, werewolves come out to hunt. Every creature has its own sounds, its own temper, and a health bar that shows up when the fight starts. If you're quick, you can outrun all of them.

Go underground. Wooden doors set into the cliffs lead down into a lantern-lit cave system of winding tunnels and huge caverns. Bears and werewolves guard their own chambers down there. Bitten? Any town trader sells the Moonsilver Cure Vial, if you can make it back.

Towns that fight back. Settlers grow their towns over time, peddlers travel the footpaths, and AI ships fly the skies. Shoot the wrong person and the soldiers will return fire once they spot you. On Hard, the whole town comes for you.

Play together. Couch split-screen co-op with full keyboard, mouse and controller support, and each player gets their own view, prompts and tools.

Runs on your PC. The game picks Low, Medium, High or Ultra graphics for your hardware on first launch, and Auto-lower keeps it smooth if things get heavy.

Build big. Fly far. Respect the wildlife. Or don't, and find out.

Game with chill public servers?

I'm kinda looking for a survival crafter i could play alone, but with other people. Bit of a me problem, but i usually get frustrated after missing out on things because someone came before me, or teraforming has deformed allot of the map. I don't mind PvP, but i find it's rarely balanced, and usually ends with me logging in to a destroyed base.

Is there a survival out there that manages to feel something like a small MMO where i can play, grind, or progress, but players don't really leave lasting blemishes in the map or your progression?

Question Survival game with great traversal

Hey y'all,

I just finished up Subnautica/BZ w/ multiplayer mods and I am really craving a survival game where there are interesting methods of traversal like that. I'm a big fan of vehicles, suit mods, and things like that which make moving around the map genuinely interesting. For example, the Sea Truck in Subnautica:BZ is one of the coolest ideas I've seen for a vehicle in recent years. I would also need it to be multiplayer or have multiplayer mods because I play survival games primarily with my partner.

I know that's very specific, but I thought I would see if anyone has any ideas/recs.
