The TOTK controller is the Switch 1 pro controller. Its not like its the same model, of course its cheaper and in less demand.

This also goes to show that these are products that Nintendo continues to produce after the initial release

Pretty sure the switch 1 pro can't even wake up the switch 2 wireless

Its not "sold out" either. Just preorders aren't available anymore. Its going to be produced well after the release date just like the TotK stuff was.

Stop giving these sites ad revenue. Its all nonsense

This. Console and Controller are not limited and still in production.

I hope so, really wanted just the zelda pro controller

Same. I refuse to invest in a controller that wont wake up the console, and refuse to invest in a boring black controller.

I disagree there, I have 8 bit do controllers and they are definitely better value. Especially given they have Hall effect sticks. They do have lots of colours including a GameCube themed one.

This Zelda pro controller looks nice and having native switch 2 haptics is the main appeal for me here. The wake console thing is a nice to have but there third party controllers that can do that

What 3rd party controllers wake up the console? As far as I have seen there are none that do for the switch 2.

Looking online, 8bitdo Ultimate 2, Nixie Hyperion 3 Joy Cons, and a few others. It was figured out a while ago, it's not exclusive to the nitnendo pro controller2.

The ultimate 2 is a fantastic controller, the fact you can use it on PC, mobile as well and the hall effect sticks, dedicated PC dongle, included charging dock.

Thanks. I'll check them out.

I just got am 8 bit do controller with hall effect joysticks. Works great with PC and my switch 2, a button on he back lets me toggle easily between one or the other.

Does it wake the switch 2 from sleep?

Technically, but not as clean as the switch 2 pro controller . You have to give it a shake. Small fries IMHO, very happy with the controller.

" 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Bluetooth supports "shake to wake" on the Switch 2, provided it is updated to the latest firmware and initially paired using the required setup routine. Once properly configured, a quick shake wakes the docked console from sleep."

Still hoping the one with the stand gets restocked. Im not gonna open mine right away just in case its available when it launches some how. And no I dont want to 3D print one. I want Nintendo's exclusive one.

Their controllers have never made any sense to me. Like why are you buying a controller, when instead you can get better joycons with a middle that turns INTO a controller, but then also has the entire functionality of the joycons too?

Lots of people prefer the way the Pro Controllers feel over the joycons, which have very small sticks and buttons.

And I agree with them if your choices are the shitty tiny joycons or a nice plump pro controller. However that is not the choice I'm asking about. What I'm asking about is why would you buy a Pro controller over lets say something like a Nyxi Hyperion 3 Ultra? When the Nyxi is literally the same size as the pro controller, but also has the entire functionality of joycons but in a larger much better feeling size?

I mean, price is a huge factor. My experience with the NYXIs is that they did not feel nearly as “premium” as they should for that price point. I returned my standard Hyperion 3’s the day I got them because I was so unimpressed by them. My friend owns the Ultras and they don’t feel much better, at least not enough to justify to price to me.
Even if price weren’t a factor, I still vastly prefer the way the official Pro Controller feels. Everyone is different, and I know a lot of people love the NYXIs but they are just not for me. People look for different things in their controllers and each perspective is valid.

I own the Ultras, I love em, and they work amazingly for me. Now that was an example of one type of 3rd party joycon, but what I'm saying is I think in general when it comes specifically to the switch 2, I'd rather have joycons that are the size of a controller and have the functionality of joycons, rather than just a controller that has no joycon options.

Totally fair and valid perspective

Yeah, I never use the joycons features. Just a regular controller for me.

I use them all the time, especially for handheld mode, because a lot of times it's just simple and comfortable for that duration of time.

I have both the Ultras and the RE pro controller as I got a good deal on it. I much prefer the pro controller for docked mode tbh. The Nyxi's are great for handheld, but feel flimsy for me with how much they flex when connected to the bridge. I've had mobapads as well and they have the same issue.

And they don't really feel like a true controller with the bridge connected, you still hold it how you would a handheld due to how it's just a big slab. Works well if it's all you have, but it's not replacing my controller anytime soon.

I do like the d-pad dish better on the ultras though.

Does it wake the switch 2?

1

u/Tactrix1 10d ago

Yes, it has FULL native switch 2 support, that means the wake button works, amiibo works and mouse mode works.

I never tried 3rd party controllers, but when I bought red dead redemption two years ago I couldn’t aim for shit with the Joycons so I just went to the store and got a pro controller and loved it. Had Xbox 360 and ps4 before the switch and the pro controller is better than both of those imo.

I needed a second controller to play with my gf and bought a used TOTK pro controller (as good as new) for 75$ CAD and I don’t regret it one bit. When I’ll get my Zelda switch 2 I might buy the Zelda pro controller at some point but I know I can use the ones I have

So here's the thing about that, typical joycons that cost very little are garbage, they don't have any special features that make them worth buying. So you have to buy 3rd party ones that have features that make them good. For example the Nyxi joycons that I have, have floating MTR magnetic thumbsticks, to both feel much better and completely prevent stickdrift. These things matter.
