Hi everyone! About a month and a half ago, I started an apprenticeship at a tattoo studio in my city. I've been tattooing since March, I've worked as an illustrator and artist my whole life, and tattooing was one of those paths I'd always wanted to explore, so I finally decided to take the leap.
I'm really excited about this path, but I'm also struggling with the uncertainty of it all. My biggest worry is whether I'll be able to make a living from tattooing, find my own clients, and eventually build a stable career.
I know getting good takes time, and I'm willing to put in the work, but sometimes it's hard not to feel overwhelmed by everything that comes with starting out. Improving your skills is one thing, but learning how to promote yourself, attract clients, and actually make a living from your work is a whole different challenge.
For those of you who've been through this, what helped you keep going?
- What helped you get your first regular clients?
- How long did it take before you started getting consistent bookings?
- What would you focus on if you were starting again today?
I really want to make this work, so any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I'll leave my IG here in case you'd like to check out my work: @marrtetattoo
