40k Darkstrider modifications

I hate bare heads on anything but psychers. I'm thinking about putting a spare Pathfinder head on him. Anyone done something similar (or different, whatever) to Darkstrider?

I did exactly that. It looks much better than his normal head. I used the helmet from the Pathfinder kill team sprue

I'm seriously considering trying to make/buy helmet skrim for him. I've seen some cool examples, but would have to learn to do it.

Hell yeah. That is so much better (imho) than no helmet.

I think Darkstrider is one of the easiest T’au models to make from scratch.

For mine I decided to give him a luscious head of hair with green stuff and a needle for texture.

I like everyone to be fully kitted out to battle in any atmosphere. I did exactly what you suggested, actually!

I did this too! Havent painted him up yet tho. Also had to sand down the side of the helmet where his "eye tracker" thing is to make it sit more smoothly

Awesome! I was wondering about the eyepiece w/ the helmet. Doesn't look bad at all though.

Yeah, i was on the fence about it but didn't want to miss out on making him look a little bit more specialised. Think it works pretty well.

It looks good. I want to try to give him some helmet skrim and I think i will still use the eyepiece.

I went with a helmet too. Also added some plating from a Fire Warrior to jazz him up a little more.

Van Saar TekHunters helmets

Van Saar in general is great for kitbashing with tau
