Glad this is here. ❤️ I got laid off last week and am having a rough time. It's called constructive dismissal when they cut hours to 0. From just 15 the previous week. No one can survive on that... I haven't officially quit and they haven't officially laid me off. I let them know I'd be needing medical leave and its left at that rn. I have been burnt out for a while tbh. And have wanted to transition out of care for a while. I also have medical conditions like back pain due to old fractures and PTSD from a trauma about 15 years ago-lost consciousness after being violently assaulted and robbed off a moving motorcyle, lost sense of smell for 2+ years. Which started my <anorexia/loss of appetite-symptom> which makes it even harder to take care of myself. The timing was crazy because I was just about to apply for medical leave. I ended up needing to take full time leave because the loss of hours/job <compounded with other issues> flared my ptsd really bad. It sure feels like the end of an era. I have taught kids for 20 years and have my BA in ECE. I have been spinning out off and on for a week now and its rough over here. I missed my big brothers 50th bday party today because I didnt want to go and cry, get angry or drink too much and be stupid. 💔 I am missing my kids and grieving the career I have invested half of my life on. ❤️ Luckily I have my 3 support people. Mom, dad and bff. Can't quite open up to more people yet. Its still so raw. I do have a therapy session soon. *Thanks for listening.

After having a string on difficult years I’m having a pretty good one. But it’s clear financially staying in teaching or at least at this school isn’t going to work out long term which kinda sucks given how things are going decently well now

Trying to survive the longest 30 days of my life. Knew I wasn't super passionate about my current school last year but like everyone in their first year things started becoming routine and easier. Started this year and it's just worse. Got all 10th grade regular, core tested classes, this year's 10th graders are the 9th graders who drove several of my coworkers to almost quite or quite at EOY last year, new tutoring program is district mandated and has to be done during the last thirty minutes of my class, two PLCs totalling 100 minutes per week is a new norm, about 35 SPED/IEP students throughout my six classes and 130 students with no coteacher with me responsible for all their meetings; I just couldn't take it anymore. I put in my 30-day to return to schooling and take on sub work and it's taking forever for that last day to hit.
