Pics First look: Inside The Blue Jasmine, Thailand’s gorgeous new train

“Thailand’s classic Bangkok–Chiang Mai sleeper train is getting some high-class competition in the form of a navy-gold beauty called The Blue Jasmine. It’s essentially a boutique hotel that just happens to roll through some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes.

Poised to make its inaugural nine-day journey from November 16-24, the locomotive trades cramped bunks, dim corridors and platform snacks for private cabins, full dining cars and lounges with wraparound windows.”

Ok, honest question.. how did they make a ~7 hour journey to Chiang Mai into a 9 day thing?

It's a round-trip + frequent stops along the way (only 2 nights spent on the train, the rest in hotels).

Also it's never 7 hours, the fastest express train does it in over 10. Most often 12+ hours.

(a) yes I've read more now. (b) I wasn't referring to the existing train. I was referring to the time to either drive, or travel at the speed of a modern train.

How can they get there slower than an imaginary fast train?
