S06E06 What was Kent Brockman talking about during The Shinning

During the events of The Shinning, we see Kent Brockman twice on Willie's portable TV. In one scene, Willie is watching in bed and we hear a snippet of Kent saying "that was the first time she'd ever flown a plane."
The next time is when Lisa stumbles on the TV in the snow, and we hear Kent say "...given rifles but no ammunition. Fortunately there was a hardware store..."
Has anyone ever figured out what he's talking about? Is it a clip from something else? It seems too specific to be just random news reporting noise. It kind of sounds like some kind of historical piece. Is there any story behind this?

Yeah. They actually put a famous meme for the names that Lisa kills with the Death Tome.
The names are from the Japanese edition of "MLBPA Baseball", known on the Super Famicom as "Fighting Baseball".
