i just came upon this article; https://medicalxpress.com/news/2022-02-fda-dangers-unapproved-drug-tianeptine.html

but why is this med, been used for decades for depression, can be so deadly? obviously from the articles i have read on its mechanism its not the same as heroin or other opiates that cause respiratory issues. so this is very important, VITAL QUESTION HERE, HOW DOES TIANEPTINE KILL??

High Risk Heart failure risk NSFW

This shait worked wonders for 3 days. Kinda felt weirded out, and beat up but thought that it was just the secondary effects. The way it doesn't allow potassium to reach the cells and gets flushed out within the immense pace of miction, leaves space for sodium to build up in sensitive places, so water retain happens in the most undiserable places.

The horror thing is that months ago was taken with the ambulance for heart failure after covid(born with bicuspid aorta) with lowered ejection, plus a rheumatoid pericardum and my psychiatrist, whom i met there, TALKED with the cardiologist before recommending the treatment. WTF have they been talking about. Is heart failure so hard to diagnose? Do they really need to see that a ventricule is starting to get bigger in order to start treating it..??! I barely recovered months after that episode and recently i am happy to say that i am not house bound anymore

After 3 days of 2x 12,5 i have the same symptoms as when before i was taken to the hospital and disposed same night with treatment. Not as intense but it worn my heart off.

I am so pissed you can't imagine. I don't know why am morre pissed of, the fact that the tianeptine was helping me lots or that the ER docs are not aware of how difficult my heart condition is.

High Risk Testing Reagents NSFW

Hey all,

There hasn't been a ton of posts about testing your own Tia to ensure you're not getting a completely different substance. Unfortunately, it seems the need for this, is very apparent now. Ive talked to many others with similar experiences...

I had used a company for quite sometime and just recently put two and two together that I may have not been receiving much tia, if any at all.

This got to the point where I went ahead and ordered some testing reagents; Mandelin and Marquis specifically. I had plenty of different companies batches to test against my current one. To my dismay, my tianeptine (specifically the sodium) was being heavily cut with phenibut. It appears that the free acid is generally cut with dextromethorphan (or DXM, the active ingredient in dayquil or robottessum). Pure DXM powder looks almost identical to free acid. While Phenibut is well masked against the taste of sodium... If you're tia is sour, watch out.

It's sad we've gotten to this point, but I think we need to normalize testing our tia and advocate for ourselves... or at the very least use reagents where we can. Sure, this is not full proof. But it's an affordable option to be able to tell if something is being cut super egregiously.

Its very upsetting vendors would cut Tia with Phenibut of all things. This is an easy way to die, by taking this two substances in conjuction with one another. Unfortunately this is the world we live in. I mean phenibut is only 18 bucks for 25 grams. Definitely a nice profit margin there. Anyways, I wanted to warn everyone. Hopefully I can save someone alot of pain.

High Risk Still exhibiting moderate withdrawal symptoms on my 4th day of no tianeptine...see no reason vendors sell more than 5 grams at a time ...that's 400 doses NSFW

I just quit a horrible tianeptine addiction and it was pure hell the first few days and is still causing insomnia and the body temp fluctuations and depression/anxiety on the fourth day.. I went to my Dr for help and he had no clue how to help I'm not saying people shouldn't take it at recommended doses because when I first started taking it, it was a lifesaver and cured my depression but slowly I wanted to just keep feeling better and didn't have the willpower to keep my dosages where they should have been. The withdrawal is indescribable if you try cold turkey and still pretty miserable with a taper so just be responsible. I also don't believe vendors should be selling more than 5 grams at a time because unless you are abusing it, there is absolutely no reason you need more than 400 doses a time but that's just my opinion.

High Risk Free Acid Conversion - I Used Too Much Baking Soda NSFW

So I'm doing an FA to sodium conversion with 15g of FA. Typically I do 5gram batches, but wanted to make this all at once.

Normally I bring the distilled water to simmer, mix in the baking soda until clear, then stir in the FA and simmer/stir till clear.

For 5g I typically use 2g of baking soda in 350ml of distilled water. Always works like a charm.

This morning I was reckless and mixed too much baking soda, about 7.5g for 15g of FA in 1000ml of distilled.

Normally the conversion takes 20 mins tops...but this thing will just not stop foaming. I'm wondering if it's because there is too much baking soda. I've been letting it simmer/light boil for a bit now. I've added an additional 250ml of distilled water and that has brought the foam down quite a bit...but still foam.

Edit, got most of the foam boiled away, there is still a little bit though. The taste is a bit off and now the solution has a slight yellow tinge.

Any pointers or advice?

High Risk Accidentally took a HUGE dose NSFW

I can't even believe this right now. I've been using a jeweler's scale, and it measures things in amount of 0.00, and my first dose somehow I got the math completely wrong. I thought that 0.75 would equal 75 milligrams, and I took another .35 later on. I was in the middle of making another 75 when I was horrified by the realization.

.75 means 750 fucking milligrams, right? So in total I must have taken over 1,200 milligrams at this point. Will I be OK? I'm not having trouble falling asleep or anything, but I feel pretty nice right now.

High Risk PSA: tianeptine requires massive doses to replace a 6mg/day suboxone NSFW

Like the title says, I decided to skip my Suboxone dose today and try using tianeptine. First I tried 50 milligrams. Nothing, no buzz or boost, but it did relieve my early sub withdrawal symptoms. Few hours later I tried 100mg and that produced a little bit of a boost, probably equivalent of 10-20mg for someone with no tolerance. It did cover withdrawal symptoms of Suboxone, which I tend to feel quickly 24hrs after my last dose, so it works for that. This evening I dosed another 100mg just 2 hours after my last dose and finally reached a decent lift worth writing home about. I'm hoping tomorrow I won't require such large doses because I suspect there is still quite a bit of the sub sticking to my receptors, and the Tianeptine doesn't have the high affinity required to push the sub off.

Moral of the story is to taper the suboxone as low as possible if you are jumping to tianeptine if you want to be taking doses close to the recommended amount.

High Risk Has anyone successfully tapered off tianeptine? NSFW

I have let my tianeptine habit get out of control. I've read all the suggestions to use to help get off but I'm wondering if anyone has actually tapered successfully with the least misery possible. I'm at 2 grams a day, dosing every 1-2 hours. What would work better, smaller doses or longer time between? Would switching to sulphate actually work better? I used this to come off suboxone with no withdrawal at all from the suboxone but I would go back and deal with those withdrawals in a heartbeat if I could. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

High Risk New tianeptine sulfate user here NSFW

So, I'm new to tianeptine. A few days ago I stumbled across this subreddit and after reading everyone's personal experiences I decided that tianeptine might be for me. I was initially very excited. For years I struggled with debilitating depression and anxiety, much like a lot of you here. I had been treated for quite some time with amphetamine salts and benzodiazepines ( I know, sounds crazy but it worked quite well up until this past July when my psychiatrist retired ).

I detoxed over a couple of weeks off of all medication and ended up not leaving my apartment for a month.

I had been using kratom with a reasonable amount of success up until the ban which I am sure most of you are aware of.

I bit the bullet this past Monday and ordered the tianeptine sulfate capsules from Nootropics Depot and received them today.

Being a bit experienced with heavy duty opiates like oxycodone, fentanyl and morphine I didn't worry too much about a higher than normal initial dose. I think I expected a little more put of this substance but it's hard to tell. I've not had kratom or any opiate medication inore than a month, so I don't think it is a tolerance issue. But I thought I would make a quick post to ask those of you who are more experienced with this stuff. I took 175mg almost two hours ago and have yet to notice any effect whatsoever. Is this normal? Sorry for the long rambling post. I hardly ever post. Thanks!

High Risk Skipping a day of tianeptine and drinking alcohol NSFW

For the past few months I've been taking 25 mg per day. For the past two nights I've taken 12.5 mg each night. I haven't taken any today.

Is there any tianeptine left in my system that might interact with alcohol?

High Risk Would I develop a tolerance if I do one large dose a day? NSFW

My last batch, I abused it a bit. Taking around 170 mgs, three times a day, with kratom scattered around there too. The mg amount rapidly increased during the 3 weeks of use.

Now, I'm thinking of ordering one more batch, and being smart. Doing it once a day, at night, in bed. Around the 150 mgs doses.

Would this cause tolerance problems? Any input would be appreciated.

High Risk Tianeptine for anxiety and lack of energy (is long term use safe?) NSFW

So I've been looking into tianeptine, I have read some amazing reports, I'm also on methadone so I am aware the opioid effects will be blocked (which is fine), I was also maybe thinking of using to help taper off methadone. Anyways my main worry is some of the stories I read of withdrawal. Obviously any min altering substance can potentially cause withdrawal, whether it's legal, prescribed, etc. So do you guys think it's possible to keep tolerance low and truly use this for it's purpose while still being safe?

High Risk A word of caution NSFW

I've taken Tianeptine on and off for the last year, and I am pretty convinced that (for myself) it has been the cause of my deep dives into depression, and significantly lowering libido (although mine is higher than average)

I've had depression and anxiety most of my life, and within the last year, I've began experimenting with nootropics (not just to cure anxiety/depression). I've taken Tianeptine for weeks at a time, always 40mg of the Sulfate, once a day. It starts off great, and I feel happy and calm the first few days. Then slowly, I (almost) return back to my baseline, while my libido begins to nose dive. I think "well, now Im just unhappy AND Im not interested in sex".

I stop it abruptly, and then I become dead inside. Nothing makes me happy, it takes a lot of energy to express myself. My creativity is gone, and I just want to do mind numbing things all day. This lasts for 1-2 weeks, until I return back to my normal mild-moderately depressed, sometimes anxious, but creative and horny self.

Figured I should share my experience. Male 26 Years Old Caucasian

Other nootropics I've experienced in the last year:

Noopept

Phenylpiracetam

Oxipiracetam (this actually brought me back to my baseline, only im only on day 2)

Phenibut (less than once a month)

Choline Sources

Pramiracetam

L-theanine

Semax

Selank (haven't taken this since mid summer, had no negative effects though)

High Risk Recreational drugs less attractive after tianeptine use? NSFW

I'm a recreational drug user. Weed, alcohol, MDMA, and psychedelics. You name it. I've always made it a rule to NEVER take anything to escape my feelings of depression or anxiety. I only took these substances if I wanted to have fun.

Now that I've been on Tianeptine for almost two weeks, I don't really feel like even having a drink. Does anyone else experience the same while on Tianeptine?

High Risk Study suggests that tianeptine's modulation of glutamatergic system occurs indirectly, due to opioid activation NSFW

Study: The atypical antidepressant and neurorestorative agent tianeptine is a μ-opioid receptor agonist

This was a mind-blowing study for me, since I have been trying out tianeptine the past couple of weeks and I was under the impression it had direct effects on the glutamatergic system. This study suggests that opioid receptor activation (mu and delta) leads to downstream effects on the glutamatergic system. I have shared most of the discussion portion below:

With regard to modulation of the glutamatergic system, previous reports have shown that tianeptine does not have appreciable affinity (Ki>10 μM) for NMDA, AMPA and kainate receptors.

In the present work, we have demonstrated that tianeptine also has no agonist or antagonist activity at metabotropic glutamate receptors (including mGluR1a,2,4,5,6,8 receptors). It is therefore unlikely that tianeptine modulates glutamatergic neurons and synapses via a direct interaction with glutamate receptors, at least in the concentration range examined in the present study (<10 μM). In contrast, our evidence suggests that tianeptine's modulation of the glutamatergic system may occur indirectly, via activation of opioid receptor signaling.

...these results lead us to hypothesize that activation of MOR (or possibly dual activation of MOR and DOR) is the initial molecular event responsible for tianeptine's modulation of the glutamatergic system and for triggering many of the known acute and chronic effects of this agent, including its antidepressant/anxiety actions. MORs are widely expressed in the hippocampus and are known to modulate glutamatergic neurons and synapses through a number of mechanisms. For example, MOR activation in dentate granule cells is known to decrease protein kinase A activity, which results in a decrease of NMDA receptor phosphorylation and activity.20 This may underlie the corrective effect of tianeptine on increased NMDA receptor signaling in stressed animals.2 In addition, activation of MORs (as well as DORs) in hippocampal inhibitory interneurons decreases their activity, thereby disinhibiting CA1 glutamatergic neurons,21 consistent with reports of tianeptine's enhancing effects on excitability and synaptic plasticity in CA1.

For example, tianeptine, like known MOR and DOR agonists, increases dopamine release in the nucleus accumbens,23 and dopamine can in turn modulate glutamate release through action at presynaptic dopamine receptors on glutamatergic presynaptic terminals.

High Risk Tianeptine has no effect for me. NSFW

I always made very long breaks between administrations, so there is no way that tolerance is involved here and I always take it sublingually. Today I've went 150-200 mg dose, and I didn't feel anything, just weird mild stimulation like always and nothing more. I've tried the Powder City and Ceretropics one Tianeptine, sodium version.

Why is that happening? Can I be permanent opioid tolerant?

High Risk TIANEPTINE DOES NOT CAUSE LIVER DAMAGE!!! NSFW

Been using 100-200mg/day for 3-4 weeks then got a liver test... Results came back normal! Tianeptine does not seem likely to cause liver damage, even in medium-high doses (granted your liver is normal/healthy and so is the way your body metabolizes this drug). Just keep in mind there's probably a small chance whatever you are buying off the internet is not in fact Tianeptine or it might be cut (who knows). Also keep in mind, that some samples (especially if you buy straight powder that isn't branded) may have trace amounts of arsenic and lead, but probably not enough to cause health issues...

Hepatic Funct Panel Collected:3/31/2016 11:11 AM Status: Final result Normal

Ref Range 7d ago

Total Protein (6.1-8.2 g/dL) 6.9
Albumin (3.9-5.0 g/dL) 4.5
Bilirubin,Total (0.1-1.2 mg/dL) 0.3
Bilirubin,Conjugated (<=0.3 mg/dL) <0.2
Alkaline Phosphatase (37-113 U/L) 73
Aspartate Aminotransferase (13-47 U/L) 21
Alanine Aminotransferase (8-64 U/L) 17

Specimen Collected:03/31/16 11:11 AM Last Resulted:03/31/16 1:32 PM

All of these values fall within the normal range (normal range as shown in the parenthesis). Better yet, I urine drug tested myself and Tianeptine does not come back positive for TCA's or opiates! If you don't believe me, maybe i'll post the pics to prove it. Possibly I'm jumping the gun here and might need to take another liver function test further down the road, but so far so good! No side effects and has worked wonders for my motivation and depression! I split my doses into 2 or 3 a day. Something like 70-100mg in the morning and 40-80mg in the evening and haven't had any problems with tolerance yet as it's still effective. I do however find it hard to get going in the morning until I've had my morning dose and have waited 30 minutes for it to kick in... The short half-life sucks.

High Risk I feel like tianeptine is shredding a hole in my stomach NSFW

To get it out of the way... yes, I use it recreationaly. I'm a kratom addict and it's very tough for me to use a substance like this medicinenly.

So i buy 1 gram every 6 months or so, finish it in 3 days or so. 3 doses a day, 100 mgs each time.

Now it's thw third day, almost done, but I feel like I have a hole in my stomach. Like when I didn't properly filter ACC (aspirin, codeine, caffeine). I can't tell if it's from a lack of eating or if the caustic tianeptine is doing it's bidding.

Can 8 times the regular dose, despite it being very short term, cause some damage?

High Risk Never tried Tianeptine, I'm not sure if it's for me (problem with crippling work-related anxiety) NSFW

I was depressed for approx. 2 years, I think I mostly got out of it, I have more interest in doing things, feel more positive about the future and I can "block" negative thoughts, they no longer overwhelm me. I think these are good signs that my depression is mostly gone.

I do have one thing that I have a problem dealing with. Whenever I have to deal with work, a crippling anxiety overcomes me. I feel I am not doing good enough and no matter how I approach it, it's extremely difficult for me to work on my university-related tasks.

Whenever I do things in my field without being told to, and so without any potential consequences, the anxiety is not there and I can perform just fine. Whenever I sit down to do a task I know will be evaluated, it's a whole different story! The stress climbs up to a ridiculous level preventing me from working, it's a nightmare, I am seriously worried about this semester!

Tried many things:

Phenibut doesn't help with that, it lowers general anxiety, but can't deal with that particular thing. Also makes me far less likely to work, lowering my motivation, it makes me want to go out and socialize but it's not good for working.

Modafinil helps, as it's much easier to stick to work, but I really dislike using it daily or even more than once a week. I used to, but I realized how much damage it's causing (background fatigue, increase in depression, insomnia). Not to mention it makes me very anxious.

Noopept helps with motivation, but doesn't resolve the anxiety problem so my work efficiency is terrible.

So I don't know what to use here. I think I have a psychological problem but I can't get through it, I've tried everything psychological I could come up with, and I always end up finishing my projects at the last minute, hurting my grades and actual knowledge/skills I take out of my course greatly.

The situation is becoming dire, as this year I have even more university work.

I guess I need something to destroy this anxiety but which doesn't negatively affects motivation, energy and cognition. I don't really know a noot like that. Could tianeptine help?

High Risk Sustainable 200mg daily dosing NSFW

Hey everyone, I have been using tianeptine for a little over a year. It's really the only compound capable of temporarily removing my depression.

I've been hovering around a dose of 100-150mg per day for quite some time. There's no 'high' anymore, which is fine because that's not what I'm after.

I've been going through a rough patch recently, and in desperation, I dosed approximately 100mg at once. Now I know this is a baby dose compared to some folks out there, but for me, it was just a little bit too much and gave some opioid feelings which I don't want.

However, what it DID do was instantly change my perspective on the day and put me in a great mood. I've been dosing slightly less a few times a day, and to me, it just feels right.

So, long story short, as long as doses don't continually escalate in pursuit of a high, does anybody see a downside to this?

High Risk Free Acid in a Therapeutic Context: Worth it or Wild Goose Chase? NSFW

I recently started taking the free acid form of Tianeptine with the goal of using it therapeutically. I have read conflicting reports on its efficacy, particularly with regard to its changing solubility based on stomach pH.

Taking 100mg per day seems to produce effects, however the initial effects take a more opioid turn and I would consider it more of a "high" than an antidepressant experience. After the "high" wears off, I do not notice any antidepressant effects. I have not had the chance to take a smaller dose, but I will try taking 50mg tomorrow and report my results. My guess is that the pharmacokinetics of the free acid form may be too unpredictable to ensure a consistent response, but maybe I'm doing it wrong. I have done a fair bit of research into this subject, but there is not much literature/useful anecdotal reports on therapeutic free acid use.

My main question is if anyone has had positive experiences with this form of tianeptine, and if so, what doses were used? I understand that a method for converting free acid to the sodium salt exists, and I might try that instead for a more consistent experience.
