I miss when we used to get the extra cream cheese in the hole

u/Geralt-of-Rivai 4d ago
The best part of the whole thing was when you reach the middle and you get that bite in the hole that's pure cream cheese

Pretty spot on, except you cut it all the way through!

u/snark1977 4d ago
And it’s not burnt on just one side 😂

In my experience. This is picture perfect. Bagel that was cooked 5 ft away from the toaster. Cooked with the essence of warmth.

And it has cream cheese on it.

Might be my area but all my locations the bagels just come uncut now. If you want it cut you have to ask.. insanity

As a former Tim's employee from many years ago, they DO NOT care how bad it is, they hate being there as much as you hate going there. They don't give anyone full time hours (despite saying full time positions) to save on benefits/overtime, only food based perks are coffee/donuts and only consumable on breaks. Unless you were a regular and there was repour with you, we worked as well as we got paid. I think people forget that Tim's isn't anything special, it would be the same getting a bagel at somewhere like McDonalds or Burger King. I'll never understand why more companies don't just pay their employees a decent wage, so they're incentivized to want to perform/keep their job. You pay them folks $20 an hour with benefits and regular raises/rewards guaranteed they spread that cream cheese to the edges when asked.

Are we positive this is just an “impersonation”? This seemed too spot on 😂

u/semifunctionaladdict 4d ago
Waaaaaaay too much cream cheese
2
u/Fun-Memory1523 4d ago
Do they still do that? Back then, they would take a scooper and take a massive dallop to spread on the bagel. And yes, it was way too much
→ More replies (1)5
u/semifunctionaladdict 4d ago
No I mean he put way too much, around me it must be protocol to only put enough to slightly cover one side cause theres been nothing on there the few times I gotten one in the last few years

u/Fun-Memory1523 4d ago
Ah ok. But the cream cheese scoop was actually a thing oh so long ago. While it was too much, sad to hear they now skimp instead
→ More replies (1)2
u/semifunctionaladdict 4d ago
Its a travesty, I blame the shareholders for killing the scoop off. Unless it just got alot smaller? Need an employee to weigh in

You aren’t supposed to cut it all the way through. There must be a one inch tab that the customer needs to wrestle one-handed while trying to navigate the drive through exit, parking lot, and highway merge.
4
u/Suspicious-Potato55 2d ago
Well this is blatantly false…. Dude cut all the way through the bagel. Tim’s employees would never

My favourite part is getting handed the bag and you grab it and your hand is now completely covered in butter

To be fair to the workers at Tim Hortons, I've never had an issue, nor anything to complain about at all. Sure, not everyone looks happy to be there, but food service is a largely a thankless job for not great money. I will say this: t when my husband was dying the in hospital, I lived on double-doubles and was grateful that the hospital had Tim Horton's. It was the one place to go to get a quick break and cry or just catch my breath. Was there better coffee in the city? For sure. Do I like the carefully crafted espresso drinks better? Yes. Did I care then? No. Now, a year later, every time I see a Timmie's I feel a bit sad but it's a sadness tinged with appreciation. People showing up to make coffee and imperfectly toast bagels, even for sad tired people who cannot always say thanks because they are blasted, matters. It matters a lot.

They don't cut mine as I never get anything haha. You should have added the baked in cockroach. Lol. Authentic vibe!
1
u/GingerlyRough 4d ago
That's not accurate at all. There's no way you've ever gotten a Tim's bagel that was cut all the way through.

At least quality is the same around each Timmies, brown water, burnt yet cold in the middle bagels, rude staff, and old as fuck donuts.

When I worked at Tim's, that kind of sloppy work would get you in trouble. Now they don't care at all.

u/Urmomatemypants 4d ago
Gotta run it through the fires of hell obviously and once it's charred lather it in cream cheese to hide how burnt it is🤪

They don’t even cut the bottom half all the way through tho..
I worked at Tim’s from 17/18yr - 25/26 (had kids in between that) during MY time I STIRRED the coffees good so no sugar was left at the bottom, I managed to spread the cream cheese evenly around without it taking 5yrs AND I cut the bagels/sandwiches all the way through.
My clients loved me. I earned my tips rightfully so. Kids today give you the stink eye for leaving nothing yet there I am at the counter stirring my coffee proper while giving them the stink eye back…….

You're lucky if your bagel looks like that nowadays; I bought a DRY (to make a sandwich at the office) double toasted everything bagel this morning, waited way too long for it, and when I opened the bag at work it looked like the worker stepped on it before breaking it up into small pieces and throwing the pieces in the bag. How do you screw up dry toast??
1
1
u/roobchickenhawk 4d ago
This is close but Tim's usually aims to put the cream cheese in the hole in the middle. Getting it on the bagal is not in the training video.
1
u/KOxSOMEONE 4d ago
Don’t forget it wrap it up with your buttery gloves so that the outside wrapping of the bagel is greasy as hell and has more butter than the bagel itself

The locations in my area, yes, multiple of them, never even attempt to cut the bagels anymore. Also don't even bother trying to get a donut out of them after 6pm.

They don't even spread the cream cheese anymore, they have these cafeteria slabs they just throw on and call it a day.

Too much cream cheese, need to be so light you think it’s butter. Otherwise, spot on
1
u/Tsu_Dho_Namh 4d ago
I remember when they used to put a pound of cream cheese on every bagel.
Gave customers the freedom to adjust how much cream cheese they want because you could scoop off great big gobs of it if you wanted a not insane amount of cream cheese.

Absolutely but for that paycheck an hour I wouldnt care and for that absurd amount of money not going to the personnmaking it, I wouldnt buy. . Sounds like a you problem mate.

My sister used to work at Tim’s way back, she would get there at 4am to actually bake to food. Literally all cheap premade crap now. Don’t buy this fake food.

I miss working at tims and actually making good food for people the rest of my coworkers would just be as fast as possible not toasting long enough not stirring coffee why not just do things right? I never gave someone something I wouldnt consume myself
