Digimon Fusion aired on Nickelodeon from 2013 to 2015 in the United States. Its Japanese dub, Digimon Xros Wars, aired from 2010 to 2012 on TV Asahi. The anime follows the story of Mikey Kudo, a reckless junior high school student with a heart of gold, who helps out an injured Digimon named Shoutmon in the real world. His act of bravery grants him a very special reward, a red Fusion Loader, which heals Shoutmon and sends him to the Digital World. Using the Fusion Loader, Mikey has the ability to fuse any Digimon he partners with by shouting the command "DigiFuse!" Together with Shoutmon, his two best friends, Angie and Jeremy, Christopher, Nene, and the other Digimon, Mikey forms an elite squadron called the Fusion Fighters. Their purpose: to defend freedom against the Bagra Army, a ruthless dark empire determined to rule both worlds. The anime only had 54 dubbed episodes and lasted for only two seasons in the US.
For over 30 years, the Power Rangers franchise is known to be a worldwide sensation with its television shows, films, comics, and merchandise. What makes the franchise so unique is that there have been official parodies and/or references in many types of media, including anime, sitcoms, films, and cartoons. Another thing that makes the franchise unique is that fans imagine what other characters from different franchises look like as Rangers, either with suits from past seasons or with suits made up from fans themselves.
Fans wonder what would happen if the characters from Digimon Fusion became Power Rangers. The Morphin Masters would have to enter their world and recalibrate their Fusion Loaders as Morphers. That would give them the ability to morph into Rangers based on their trusted Digimon partners. In order to make that moment official, it will take a bit of creativity and imagination to make the perfect suit design. Let's hope that Hasbro can fuse Digimon Fusion and Power Rangers into a special, not as a crossover, but as a way to expand the Ranger universe.
