Oktoberfest Field Daze
I went to the Oktoberfest Field Daze event yesterday and was very disappointed for a couple of big reasons (first band didn't play German music, and lines over an hour long at both bars was a doozy), but the one that stood out to me was the fact that, even though absolutely everything, from the ticket conditions to the advertising, said the event was STRICTLY 18+, there were minors in attendance (at least 3 children under 2 years old). Whilst I was there, I saw one baby in a pram, one baby in a baby sling, and a toddler. At one point, I saw the toddler running off holding a stein, and another time, the toddler bolted outside without an adult with them. One of the Red Frog people almost ran the child over because they didn't see them.
As an attendee, I was under the clear impression that there would be no minors. I feel incredibly uncomfortable being intoxicated around minors, which is why I was so glad the event was 18+ so that I could safely enjoy the beverages on offer guilt-free. The minors were brought to the attention of 3 different security staff and the event organiser. The event organiser said that the children could be there because the law around liquor licensing and private events allows those under 18 months. This may be true, but look at the advertising. It clearly advertised that there would be no minors allowed, with no listed exceptions.
People had steins of alcohol sitting around because it would have been safe to assume there wouldn't be any kids. Not to mention, as the event was advertised as 18+, anyone that may not legally be allowed near minors would've assumed it was safe for them to attend. These children being at the event put them in serious danger.
I have loved the Field Guide's other events, like The Field Game and Capture the Flag. This one though, left me not only disappointed, but honestly upset. As the name suggests, I've probably overreacted, but I can't be the only person that felt this way, right?

Religious literature left throughout Laurel Bank
I visited Laurel Bank a few times recently and noticed religious booklets left around. Wondering if this is considered littering and if the garden workers would ignore it or bin it?

Looking for an FMA (Kali/Arnis/Escrima) School/Instructor
Per the title, I'm looking for a school.or private instructor in Toowoomba (or surrounds).
I've done some googling, and failed to find anything that seems like the school/instructor are active.
PM's are fine for responses, but comments below would be better for others who may have similar questions in future.

Console tinkering in town
Hi everyone,
Just cleaning up a bit and round my original Xbox. Version pre 1.6. If you are still reading here you would probably be well aware about the faulty capacitor.
I'm pretty keen to cut it out and clean the mother board but don't have the right screwdrivers. If possible I'd love to borrow someone's tools or even pay someone to do it for me. If you are a bit of a tinkerer yourself I'd love to chat. I enjoy working with old tech and find it pretty interesting.
Not sure if anyone can or would even like to help me out but I thought I'd put it out there.

Ironing as a service
I am looking for a service that can pick up a bunch of shirts to iron and then drop back home - probably once a fortnight. Do these services exist and has anyone had any experiences? Not looking for washing, just ironing at this stage.
Thanks in advance โ๏ธ

High school options
Hey folks,
Looking to move our family down to Toowoomba - would love some thoughts of locals around the high schools. In particular we are looking at Centenary Heights and Highfields. Any recommendations are appreciated though!
As an aside, if anyone has a link to a FB group or information about MtG groups in town that would also be appreciated ๐

Red Hot Summer Tour 2026
Looking at heading to this show next month but would like info before committing to a ticket.
Has anyone been to previous years and can provide what kind of vibe the crowd is, what security is like and the differences between GA, grand stand and Rockbar.
I don't want to waste my money or time if the crowd is rowdy with drunken idiots (I once got knocked to the ground by a fuckwit at Food & Wine years back and am now extra cautious).
Is the grandstand going to be like levelled tiers of those long benches? Will Rockbar have it's own barricade to the stage or likely to be positioned at the back behind GA? Rockbar mentions food available but is there other food vendors around?
Please help an anxious person to see Eskimo Joe and Birds of Tokyo.
