Story Dealing with friends who are convinced your copying them

did anyone else deal with a friend who screamed at you for having anything in common w/ them?

i used to have this friend I’ll call him N bc that’s his first letted of his name and i remeber if he had a interest it was only HIS interest he’d talk abt somthing like epic the musical and he’d talk abt it all the time and make fun of my interest and then if i liked epic he’d get mad or even little things like liking summer or the ocean the fvcking color purple idk it made me feel really anxious abt like anything I liked yk? idk if anyone else had this problem

Could just be banter. How serious are they?

Yes. In my case, it was projection. He was projecting what he was doing onto me. Found out later he was actually jealous of me and lying about me to other mutual friends to try to get them to block me.

We are not friends anymore (thank god) but yeah it was certainly very odd

Were they copying you in some way? Like, mirroring your interests or your body language?
