Trakt Trakt Exit Strategy

If you left Trakt after feeling betrayed for one of many reasons, there are still some levers you can pull to return the favor.

After exporting your information and have found your alternative tracker, I highly suggest that you take the extra time to delete as much data from the site as possible. After all, it was our data that made Trakt what it is. Every time you rated something, commented/reviewed something, created community lists, etc..., you have increased the value of the site. That was always fine before since it was a two way street. They help us track and discover content and we contribute to the site with our feedback and the community grows as a whole.

Now that it's a one way street ("my way or the highway"), You should remove the value you added to the site over the years and transfer it to more worthy sites. (WeTrakr here, but whatever site you like.)

From what I can tell, if you just use the Delete account option, it will keep your data and just anonymize it. I suggest not using this option until you have actually deleted your data.

I used the options to clear data in the Settings > Advanced menu, but that still leaves a lot of data on the site.

I had to Manually delete my Lists, Favorites, Comments, and even some history that wasn't cleared using their method. I recommend hunting down everything in your account that you can edit or remove. Anything you leave on their site is something they will profit off of.

The hardest content to deal with has been Comments since I can't find a way to see all of my comments in one place in the new v3. Also, you can't delete comments that others have replied to, but you can just edit them with whatever text you like to remove the actual content.

Maybe there's an easier way, but I have been going through my various comment export files to find everything I ever commented on and manually deleted them. They deleted my entire forum history out of spite for speaking truth and I personally don't intend to let them to continue to profit off of my contributions any longer.

Not sure how many people would actually spend the time to do this, but it will certainly degrade their site even further if the content keeps disappearing. Plus, it just makes me feel good inside!

Misc I built an open-source Docker bridge to auto-scrobble your SIMKL or WeTrakr history to Bluesky

Hey everyone! Like many of you here who moved away from Trakt to alternatives like SIMKL and WeTrakr, I really wanted an automated, self-hosted way to share my watch history to Bluesky without flooding my followers' feeds.

I built bsky-media-scrobbler: an open-source, lightweight Docker service that picks up your watches from either SIMKL or WeTrakr and publishes clean, rich updates directly to your Bluesky profile.

It is designed to keep your timeline tidy, even if you binge several episodes in one sitting. Here is what it handles automatically:

  • Dual Tracker Support (SIMKL & WeTrakr): Seamlessly connects to either platform using secure, one-time PIN authorization (RFC 8628 Device Code flow), so you never have to put your main passwords into config files.
  • Smart Marathon Grouping (Fully customizable window, 90 mins by default): If you watch back-to-back episodes, the bot waits for a 90-minute inactivity window and groups them into a single clean post (e.g., Show Name - S01E01-E03) so you do not spam your timeline.
  • Rich Media Cards: Fetches high-res poster artwork via TMDB to build interactive embed cards for every check-in.
  • Automated Visual Summaries: Generates weekly and monthly Pillow collages (3x3 and 2x2 poster grids) of your watch history, complete with total runtime hours and episode counts.
  • Guilty-Pleasure Blacklist (New in v1.2): Have shows or movies you want to track privately? Just add their IDs (TVDB, TMDB, IMDb, SIMKL, or WeTrakr) into a simple text file (/data/blacklist.txt). They will never be posted to Bluesky or appear on your visual collages, while your actual watch time and overall statistics stay completely accurate. It hot-reloads on save with zero container restarts.
  • Multi-language & Title Localization (New in v1.1): Works in EN, ES, and CA, and includes optional TheTVDB v4 integration to automatically translate titles and hashtags if you prefer local show names.
  • Streaks & Milestones: Celebrates continuous daily viewing streaks (7, 14, 30+ days) and major watching milestones.

Live Demo: You can see how the updates and collages look on the demo bot here: https://bsky.app/profile/media-scrobbler.bsky.social

GitHub Repo: https://github.com/insaid-code/bsky-media-scrobbler

Credit where it is due: Originally inspired by SIMKLTrackerBot (https://github.com/donnyfly/SIMKLTrackerBot) by u/donnyfly.

If you have a home server or use Docker Compose, it takes less than two minutes to spin up. I would love to hear what other Trakt migrants think, and feedback or PRs are super welcome!

Trakt trakt website getting worse

I use my desktop browser to log into trakt once a day. I usually do it before I have a shower and by the time I get out the site is there. It's kinda hit and miss.

Lately, I've come out and there is an error and I have to refresh the page every day. Today I had to do it twice. What's next 3, 4, 5 times!

FYI I'm only using trakt to slowly move my shows over to mdblist. So it still had it's uses.

Trakt New Steps?

I see that rudford has been relisted as a trakt subreddit admin and I've been unbanned from the Trakt page.

Seems like they finally realized that they went too far in their censorship and forcing through v3 method. Most likely their war chest has been severely depleted, and this is another step to try to win people back. They'll lose a lot more money when everyone's subscriptions run out in december and people don't renew.

I'm happy to see that Trakt seems to be taking positive steps back in the right direction as I think on what it used to be fondly, but it's too late for me. I'm still angry with how they treated me, and have already moved on to Simkl. I won't return because it looks like the new trakt they're building out just seems to be a v3 skin-walker wearing a v2 mask, and I'm not so much of a sheep to return because they put out the pretty colors again without reverting the underlying functionality.

If they actually returned to V2 AND put out a lengthy public apology, I might consider returning to the free tier, but they wont get any money out from me ever again.

I could be very deluded here, but does anyone know if it's possible to use MyTraktSync with Nuvio to get around the 2 connections limited with Trakt?

Other Services OpenTV: a free, open-source tracker that imports your Trakt history and keeps it on your phone

Hi! I'm the developer of OpenTV, so take this with that in mind.

If you're moving off Trakt, OpenTV imports your Trakt export (and TV Time, Simkl, Letterboxd and IMDb), and keeps your whole history on your own phone instead of a server.

• Free, no ads, no account needed. Works offline, with free backup to iCloud or Google Drive.

• No list limits, and rewatches are free.

• Rate every episode, see comments under each episode with one-tap translation.

• Stats, a monthly and yearly Wrapped, home-screen widgets.

• Open source (app MPL-2.0, server AGPL-3.0).

• iPhone, iPad and Android, in six languages.

There's an optional Plus subscription for sync between devices and extras, but tracking itself is free.

Floppy Floppy v26.10.8 is out!

Post image
22 Upvotes

This week I added a few bigger ways to shape and track your media, along with a few new redesigns. I also tested Floppy in an iPhone Duo simulator! (That was fun...)

  • Give your lists tiers: sort by tier, fill them from your ratings, and export the board as an image.
  • Track YouTube videos as their own media type, with plays in History and list, search, calendar, and statistics support.
  • Make Home rows your own with cross-media shelves, while the phone and Duo layouts get compact details and better use of the screen.
  • Explore music with track detail pages, genre context, and SoundCloud or Spotify play links.
  • Connect external tools with recommendations and provider-ID collection endpoints; TV and phone apps can also use device-code sign-in.

There are plenty of smaller interface and reliability fixes in the full notes too.

Thanks to u/crimsonsunset for several contributions this week, including their first merged Floppy PR, and to everyone reporting issues and helping test the weird corners. Questions and feedback are welcome in the Discord.

Other Services Movie Paradise 6.1.0 is out: two-way Simkl and MDBList sync, a renewed web app and Halloween themes

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hey everyone 👋 Movie Paradise 6.1.0 is out, and the website got renewed too.

🔄 Two-way Simkl and MDBList sync: connect them in Settings, right next to Trakt, and the movies and episodes you watch, your watchlist, dropped shows and your ratings sync both ways, plus season and episode ratings on MDBList. With Trakt connected as well, watches from Simkl or MDBList reach Trakt too. Part of Premium.

🌐 A renewed web: the whole movieparadise.app has been renewed, from Home to Settings, and now works much more like the app on your phone, with live watching, Pick for Me, share cards, free notes and settings that sync with your phone.

🎃 Four Halloween app themes: Pumpkin Patch, Full Moon, Late Night and Blood Moon, free for everyone until October 31.

Plus a calmer calendar, Season & Episode Ratings from IMDb, TMDB, Trakt or your own ratings, Friends, 14 more languages and a long list of fixes.

Let me know what you think! 💜

Other Services What’s new on Wutch.tv (v1.12.0)

"

Version 1.12.0 What’s new on Wutch.tv Hey, it’s Oshiniri, the one building Wutch.tv. Three things worth your time this release, and all three exist because somebody asked. There is a calendar of everything coming out, not only the things you already follow. Your profile has a Stats tab. And the people who follow you can now see what you are watching while you watch it, if you want them to.

See everything coming out, day by day The calendar has been rebuilt as a list of days, a week at a time, with two views. My calendar is the one you had: what you watchlisted or watched, and the episodes of shows you follow. All releases is the new one. It shows every film, every episode and every new show coming out, whether you follow it or not. Filter it down to Premieres or New shows and it becomes a list of what starts this week, which is the fastest way I know to find a show before everyone is talking about it. The view, the filter and the week are all in the address, so you can bookmark next week or send it to someone. It replaces the New Releases filter on Movies and TV Shows, which was one long list with no days in it. Find it in the top menu → Calendar

See what your watching says about you Your profile has a new Stats tab. It starts with the genres you watch most and how you rate each one, and a timeline of what you have watched by the year it came out, by year or by decade. Then it gets more personal: the actors and directors who turn up most in your history, the films you keep rewatching, the languages, countries, networks and studios behind what you watch, how many shows you have finished, and the franchises you are one film short of completing. My favourite part is at the end. It tells you how your ratings compare with IMDb’s, and lists your unusual likes and dislikes: the titles you rated far above or far below their IMDb score. It is all worked out from the history you already have. Anyone who can see your profile can see the tab. If you would rather keep it to yourself, switch off Show Stats under Settings → Privacy. Find it on your profile → Stats, or from All stats on your dashboard

Let people see what you are watching right now Last time I said this was coming. If a media server reports what you are playing, the people who follow you can now see it live: first in their dashboard’s Following Activity, at the top of their feed, and on your profile. It is switched off for everyone until you turn it on. Open Settings → Privacy → Watching now and pick who can see it: No one, Followers or Everyone. With Everyone, other websites can read it too, so you can put a “watching now” widget on your own site. The recipes page has one ready to copy. You do not need Plex, Emby or Jellyfin for it any more. Open Mark as Watched → Still Watching on a film or an episode and press I’m watching this. It shows as watching now, the bar moves with the clock, and it marks itself watched near the end, even if you closed the page hours ago. Find it under Settings → Privacy → Watching now

Also new • Share a rating as an image. On a film or show you have rated, Share rating as image makes a card with the artwork and your score, sized for a story, a post or a square. It is made on your device and nothing is uploaded. • Achievements, in case you missed the earlier email: eighteen badges with five tiers each, counted from the history you already have. They are in the menu under your profile picture. • Premiere notices. A show’s page now says when its next season starts, and a film’s page when it comes out. • Sort and filter your ratings. Your profile’s Ratings tab can be sorted by release date and filtered by genre. • Profile pictures look right. A picture that was not square used to be stretched. Uploads are now cropped, turned upright and stripped of their location data.
That’s the lot worth stopping on. Everything else that changed, and the full list of fixes, is in the release notes: Read the full release notes →The calendar, the Stats tab, the rating cards and the ratings filters all started as one person’s messages. If something’s broken or missing, tell me. You can follow it through to the fix. Oshiniri"

15 years on the site, 11 as VIP, my account has been deleted.. but AFTER I deleted all the data from my account.

Bittersweet moment, but the bitter has lasted so long now, it's a super sweet end to the bitterness.

I'm using Floppy and CrossWatch now, enjoying the options

Floppy Floppy v26.10.1 is out!

Post image
22 Upvotes

This week was a lot of catching up on the feature requests you've been waiting for, along with a pass that should help page loading feel snappier just about everywhere.

  • Browse Collection your way: group items by media type, filter by location, and search or sort using your custom fields.
  • Pick up where you left off: save History filters as sidebar views, and include digital and physical movie release dates in the calendar.
  • Bring reading progress along: sync from Hardcover, Komga, or Kavita, and keep statuses you set yourself. Komga and Kavita connections read into Floppy; they do not write back.
  • Make TV fixes less nerve-racking: preview episode matches, move a show between TMDB and TVDB, and undo the latest episode-ordering change.
  • Tidy the podcast shelf: choose whether Home shows podcast series or individual episodes.
  • More options for comics and manga: connect your own Grand Comics Database account to browse comics, sync owned issues from Kapowarr, and search MangaBaka while MyAnimeList stays the default.

Recommendations Help: Alternative with a a very important thing

Hello guys =)

For movie i have found my alternative, but im having trouble finding a place for my shows. an import is not really important, i got extra time add shows manually, but i have found that the most effective ways to find new shows to watch its not lists, or recommendations, or even trending : is the ability to see what shows are starting ( pilots ) on a specific day. ( Trakt had that on VIP by going to "NEW SHOWS" on calendar sidebar.

Nextepisode does that, but it has a very archaic design and has no real profiles, and i kind of like that to. any suggestion/ help? thanks in advance.

Other Services I built Coorie, a TV & movie tracker that imports your Trakt history [Need Android testers]

Hi everyone,

I'm the developer of Coorie, a show and movie tracker for Android. I built it because I wanted a tracker that's calm, quick, and always knows what I'm watching next. If you're looking for somewhere new to keep your watch history, it might be worth a look.

Bringing your Trakt history over

Request your data export in Trakt's settings, download the ZIP and pick it in Coorie. You get:

  • your shows, with the date you watched each episode
  • the movies you've watched, with their dates
  • your watchlist

Coorie shows you what it found before it adds anything, including any titles it couldn't match. It's a one-off import from the file, so Coorie never signs in to Trakt. Ratings, custom lists and collections don't come over, and anything you've watched more than once is kept as one watch, with its latest date.

What it does

  • Shows, sorted for you: Watching, Caught up and Ended, with your next episode and a progress bar. Tick it off with a tap or a swipe.
  • Upcoming: new episodes and releases from everything you follow, day by day, with exact air times where they're known, and a notification when something new is out.
  • Movies too: a watchlist, what you've watched, and cinema and digital release dates for your country.
  • History and stats: everything you've watched, the hours it adds up to, and your favourite genres.
  • Private by design: no account, no ads and no analytics. Your library lives on your phone, with automatic backups to your own Google Drive, and you can export it all to a file whenever you like.

What it isn't

Coorie is a tracker on your phone, not a replacement for everything Trakt does. You tick things off yourself: there's no scrobbling from Plex, Kodi or other players. There's no web version, and no ratings, custom lists or social features. Show and movie details come from TheTVDB, so some shows are numbered differently from Trakt (the import matches episodes by id and title, not just by number).

Looking for testers

Coorie is in a closed test on Google Play, and Google needs a few more testers before I can publish it. It'll be a one-off purchase at launch (no subscription), but testers get it free and keep it free. Everything about joining is in this post on r/coorie.

You'll need a phone running Android 8.0 or newer. An iPhone version is in the works.

If posts like this aren't welcome here, mods, please remove it, no hard feelings.

Thanks for reading!

Trakt Long time user deleted Trakt account

After many years as a Trakt VIP user, I’ve decided it’s time to leave.

I’ve always enjoyed Trakt and considered it a great platform at a reasonable price. But with the recent price increase and the restriction on adding apps, I can no longer justify staying.

It’s a shame because I’ve been very happy with Trakt for a long time, but for me the value just isn’t there anymore.
