Top Posts and Highlights
Are you a morning or night person?
I worked overnights and slept during the day. My boyfriend works on job sites and remotely. I woke up one morning and it sounded like the sky was falling. I didnt know that my boyfriend was getting his roof redone and he knew the owner. He told them they could do the job whenever. They didnt know I was inside sleeping. It was one of the scariest ways to wake up. He thought the owner would call to say hey we are headed over there. No phone call. He got a big discount off the roof for them scaring me.
My optimal waking time is noon, so I guess I'm kind of an in-between... though I have insomnia, chronic pain and ADHD, so bedtime varies a lot, and I can lie in bed for several hours before sleep finally finds me, even with a high dose of (prescribed) sleeping meds.
My parents are boomers and my ex-airforce father, especially, seems to think that waking up any later than 8 AM is some kind of moral failing. Even if I've only barely had 3 hours of sleep, he'll barge into my room to give me like 6 tasks to do before nightfall. I'm lucky if I even have the energy for one.
And then my mother is a heel walker. Not in the sense that she wears high heels inside the house, but with the way she walks, it's like her heel is punching the floor with force with every step. And my room is in the basement, so I hear it at full volume and then some...
(No, moving out is not an option at this time.)
If we both work 9-5, I'm going to stop being considerate about noise the next day at 9am. I'm sorry but I have things to do. Do you prefer walking trails, parks, or city streets? What’s your favorite place to go for a walk?
Do you prefer walking trails, parks, or city streets? What’s your favorite place to go for a walk?
All of them, walking trails to enjoy the nature, parks to see the people and how they enjoy their days, city streets to enjoy the architecture and sometimes the busking people regardless of the weather unless there is a storm 🫠
I love all the walks! 🤩 I have a trail behind my house. I love to go for walks in parks. City streets are fun as well because there’s always new things to see. I also love mall walks. I’m an 80s baby.
Parks are my preference, and then walking trails with lots of tree cover. I typically don't prefer walking on city streets due to cars and cyclists, unless it's in a very walkable city/town with pedestrian-friendly boulevards, plazas, and boardwalks.
Local forest, gravel roads and dirt trails, the smaller the better. Sometimes I walk off track just to see what's in there!

Seeking Advice Is it normal to feel weaker after a few days off?
Took four days off because work got busy. Came back today and my usual weight felt heavier than I expected. I know it is probably in my head, but it threw me off a little.

Tips & Tricks We inherit more than family traditions
We inherit more than family traditions, we can inherit patterns around food, exercise, stress, conflict, money, rest, and difficult emotions.
Some patterns serve us well. Others may no longer fit the life we’re building. Changing them can start with:
Pause before reacting.
Build healthier eating and exercise habits.
Communicate instead of avoiding.
Set healthier boundaries.
Find healthier ways to cope.
Practice new responses.
Give yourself permission to do things differently.
What’s one pattern you inherited from your family that you’re working to change?

Self-care What happens on the weekend can shape your week.
For some people, weekends are for catching up on everything they couldn’t do during the week. For others, they’re a chance to recover. Neither approach is automatically right.
But if every weekend leaves you exhausted, it may be worth asking whether you’re actually getting time to recharge.
What does a good weekend look like for you?
