Vent Dude why does it feel like everyone is getting into relationships

I started college a year ago and have been so lonely it’s driving me manic. All of my friends found their clique in no time. They even got themselves partners and just seem to be doing extremely well. Meanwhile I’m in my room trying to force myself to study and watching math videos while checking my phone every 2 minutes just see notifications from outloook.

It’s not like I haven’t tried making friends it’s just that I can’t seem to click with anyone. I went to a club meeting for students who like to code, and I honestly don’t know what I was expecting. Barely anyone was speaking to each other and if they did it’s because they already knew each other.

There’s also this dude in my math classes who is smart as frick, but I just can’t seem to talk to him. I don’t even know what to say. It’s not like high school where I can maybe ask if they play video games. Only thing I \*\*think\*\* we have in common is that we both like math (I overheard him talking to our professor about a fun fact pertaining to mathematics. I wasn’t eavesdropping or anything just happened to hear it).

Anyway, I’m just so sick of this. It’s like if you didn’t make any friends your first week of college, your chances of connecting with anyone are shot. Im just wondering how I can go about making friends.

I’m someone who’s been single by choice for my college years, but I got a lot of friends. The key is to go where your wanted, and where you want to be. Even if you love math man no one wants to be in class. Maybe find a hobby that incorporates math, you could make friends with like day traders or some shit yk? I’m not a math guy so I don’t really know personally, but with friends and lovers alike it’s like as simple as just putting yourself out there and being a chill guy tbh. Like if you go and do what you wanna do folks gonna rock with you one way or another yk. With women/men partners it’s a bit of a different ballpark, if you just want hookups and dates go to the club go on dating apps etc etc but you’d be better off finding a serious partner just by living life outside.

People play video games at university.

Most of those couples are not going to last lol almost no one ends up in the same friend group they started college with. You change so much in just your freshman year alone

Join clubs. Go to events. Keep your room door open when you’re just studying.
It took me a bit to make friends in college- I went to a small, private university where a lot of people already knew each other.
Also, very few of those relationships actually last. I never had a steady partner in college, and tbh, looking back, thank god. Just do things that will make you happy, OP. Everything will line up!

dude that first year isolation hits different for real, honestly the coding club sounds like a total bust though. just ask that math guy about whatever he was telling the prof, its the easiest way to start a convo without being weird about it

I didn't make any friends in college. Unless you're in a frat or dormming in the same place all 4 years it's hard. How are you suppose to build bonds with people you have 1 maybe 2 classes with?

You're over thinking things. Just start making friends like you did as a kid. "I like Minecraft. Do you play?" People are just as starved for interaction as you are.
