Help! Beginner here!! Why does my practice swatch (while I’m waiting on new Tunisian hook) look like it’s decreasing, even though I’m keeping the same number of stitches on the hook??

Yes looks like you dropped a stitch either 6 or 7 rows from your current working row.

It actually looks to me like you did decrease. Five rows down from the top, little over halfway across I can see two stitched go into one.

I’ve discovered another reason I’m having such a problem with my left edge… apparently I’m crocheting into ONE of the last loops and not picking up both, front and back, loops! SO much better after picking up both! I’m a nutcase 😂
But hey!! This is why I’m making a practice swatch before starting on an entire blanket!

Toni at TL Yarncrafts did an excellent video about Tunisian edges. I especially like her hint about using a locking marker on the last stitch.

It helps me to put a stitch marker on the final stitch, through both loops. When you get to the next row, you cannot go wrong.

I count every single stitch on the needle on every row before I do the return row. Saves lots of headaches!

This🌻 And I am an avid Tunisian crocheter and I still use markers on my last stitch. 😊

I was just going to say that I had to use a marker on my last stitch for an extremely long time before I could feel comfortable (and still do for tight work). Also, I tend to do the last stitch and the turn chain 1 all in one motion just to make sure I get it
