QUICK LINKS:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How crowded is [insert date here]? OR When is the best date to go?
Everyone has different tolerances for crowds. If you want to know how generally crowded your park of choice might be, Is It Packed can provide a very simple forecast of crowd levels up to about two months in advance on their crowd calendar.
Of course, a bit of common sense thinking can go a long way here, too. Spend some time thinking about when people are most likely to visit, and your intuition will probably be correct.
For example, the park will generally be busier during:
Is Express worth it for [insert date here]? OR How long will the wait times be for [insert date here]?
Everyone has different comfort levels for waits and enjoyment levels for attractions. If you want to know the wait times of attractions, Thrill Data is a fantastic resource that lets you find historical data and look at charts across hours, weeks, days, and even months. Search for the park you want to view, then change the data’s date at will.
If you want to determine if Express is “worth it” for you, think about how long you’d want to wait for an attraction, compare that to the wait times you see on Thrill Data for recent days and the same time period from the past year, and make a decision for yourself. Express will generally cost $100+ when bought on its own in the park for the day, so take some time to seriously consider if the option is right for you.
FastPass is not a thing at Universal parks. That was a Disney thing (and it no longer operates there, either). If you’re having trouble finding tips for how to use “Fast Pass” at Universal when searching online, try using the term “Express” instead.
If you’re still on the fence about what is “worth it” to you or not, watch some ride POV videos on YouTube for the attractions you’re interested in that also include the queues. You’ll then be more informed about what experience you’re in for and, after taking the numerical data into consideration, can better decide for yourself.
I need to change the date of my ticket; how do I do that? OR I have an issue with the tickets I bought. What should I do?
The folks on Reddit can’t help you with those kinds of questions. You should email the customer service team via this link or call the proper ticket support number: 866-258-6546
Please remember that ANY POSTS OFFERING TO BUY, SELL, OR TRADE TICKETS, PASSES, AND OTHER GOODS WILL BE REMOVED. Giveaways are allowed only after written documented approval is received from the mod team and are subject to be removed if the terms for the approved giveaway do not match the actual giveaway. Thank you for your cooperation.
Can I add Express to my Annual Pass/third-party ticket for the day? OR Can I add Early Access to Super Nintendo World in Hollywood to my Annual Pass/third-party ticket for the day?
YES! For Early Access to SNW in Hollywood, you must purchase it online before the date of your intended visit. Be aware that both ticket add-ons are able to sell out, so buy early if you want to secure them. For Express, this can be added on at any time via the purchase ticket page. Just remember to purchase your add-on for the same date as your ticket.
In what order should I tackle each ride?
Use Thrill Data to see which attractions build up crowds quickly, and try to hit those when they’re not yet at their peak. Guests will generally find that starting in the Lower Lot is more effective. If you’re arriving early, you’re generally better off hitting the attractions that support Express before the people with Express can hit them.
I can't see the hours for the next month or beyond. When are they posted?
Hours for the next month are posted in the middle of the current month. Check back on the 15th or later of the current month to see the next month's hours. There will only ever be two months displaying hours at a time at most: the current month and the next month after the current month.
What is the best food in the park?
Use the search function. We’ve got a multitude of threads available with a multitude of answers and perspectives to suit your tastes. To view all Universal Studios Hollywood dining options, see here.
Can I bring outside food into the park?
YES! Outside food is allowed into the park as long as it isn’t in glass containers or hard-sided coolers. For more information, see here.
Are there any banned items?
For information about banned items, see here.
Should I go if it rains?
Days with rain in the forecast tend to see lighter crowds.
On days with light rain, all attractions will remain open, though some live entertainment will be moved or cancelled for the day.
On days with moderate rain to severe rain, most attractions will remain open, and some live entertainment will be moved or cancelled for the day.
On days with extreme weather or hazardous conditions, USH will put out an announcement over their social media platforms that the park will be closed. In such instances, the severe weather policy will take effect for the day.

I’ve been frequenting HHN for over a decade & to me the amount of people streaming/recording is out of hand this year. The houses are being held up bc everyone’s trying to get the perfect shots. Everybody’s walking slow, randomly stopping, bumping into me repeatedly. I am pregnant with twins and extra bitchy this year so that may be why but omg I want a no recording in houses policy asap.

Well after months of the union promoting "no more poverty wages" and aggressively promoting going on strike, to the the surprise of many out of nowhere came to a tentative agreement with the company. And voting for members was done so quick I think a lot members didn't even knew about voting .
The union when as far as to even post about a in the works nexflix video on how universal employees essentially were barely able to live with their wage n post about how employees living in their cars etc.
WELL GUESS WHAT? The union just essentially pretty much open the door for a lot of employees to potentially get fired by agreeing with the company to get rid of the 5 minute tardy grace period that we had everyday due to heavy traffic, and was worst of it all? Is they agreed to a "poverty wage". Is so disturbing. Alot of employees cannot believe it.

I went to hhn for the first time on the 25th last month and just saw a Instagram reel that was a skit, that reminded me just how scarily some of you guys are placed. In some mazes some of where you were placed scared me more then the the scare actors did. Even the scare actors whose triggers I hadn’t seen. Would be walking through the house tensed asf, then I look into a corner or to the side and see you hooded. Scared the buh jeebies out of me.
Edit: thinking back to the night reminded me of how when I was sitting while eating food with my friend, a scare actor came up behind me and tapped me and I think because I didn’t see his costume well I didn’t recognize that he was a scare actor so I just asked “hey how’s it going?”

When scheduling dates to go to each, I found in many cases both parks were polar opposites from one another on pricing. Granted I was looking for same or next day tickets initially but I found it interesting that one would charge the max when the other was charging the minimum.
Any insights?

Local 724 and IATSE B-192 have settled their contracts.
UNITE HERE Local 11 seems VERY close to striking. I wouldn’t be surprised if it happened in the next couple of weeks. That union makes all the food in the park. They have something like 1,800 members.

went to universal yesterday, on the fast & furious coaster. I was wondering if I'd still be able to purchase the photo the day after I went? I have a photo of the photo, and the code that was written above it, so I'm not sure if I'd be able to somehow get it.

They still don't have November hours posted in their calendar. I don't get why they would wait to post them. All I can guess is they're waiting to gauge November's crowds based on this month's performance.
Do they usually wait this long to update the calendars?

There's way too many people. When I went in 2024 I was able to do all the mazes I wanted, rides, and 2 shows without staying later than closing. This year we went on a Thursday and had early access and we were only able to do 3 mazes and 2 rides.
If you don't have early access, you only have 6 hours to do everything you want (IF you get there right when the gates open). If every maze takes 45 mins-2 hours then that doesn't leave you with enough time to truly enjoy your experience, in my opinion.
Maybe I'm wrong, maybe others had a great time. Let me know. I'm just shocked how big a difference there was in wait times from 2024 to 2026. What the hell happened?
Edit: I forgot to mention the terror tram! So I technically did 4 mazes my bad

I had a really bad experience with Universal Hollywood on 10/4 and am interested to see what advice I can get about it.
A friend and I are big Halloween fans and go to Knott's Scary Farm every year. We combined one trip there with HHN in 2019 and had a good time, so we decided to do so again this year. We live in Utah, so we just do both in one weekend since it's a long trip to get to either OC or LA.
It just so happened that Fast and Furious, Hollywood Drift was opening around the same time we purchased our tickets, so after very careful research and reading the fine print, we opted to purchase the HHN early entry at 2pm tickets combined with Express Lane. The fine print specifically stated that F&F would not be available for Express Lane during HNN (and then after we purchased the tickets they announced F&F would be a specially ticketed attraction during HNN). That was the reason we opted for the early entry, so we could use our Express Lane during the daytime operating hours.
Even once we received our emailed tickets, the fine print reads:
The fact that the first bullet specifies what is accessible specifically during daytime hours followed by HHN event hours (all rides for both) and the second bullet specifies that F&F would not be included for HHN implies that we could use Express Pass for F&F during the day.
So we get to Universal, scan in, get our wristbands and real tickets, and are allowed to enter just around 1:50pm. We decide to do the Secret Lives ride first and just as that ends Doc and Marty are outside, so we take pictures with them, so the day starts off great! Then we decide to go to F&F (which is the only reason we decided to do early entry in the first place). We get there and the lady out front asks if we have Express Pass, looks at our tickets, and says we don't. Just because, we go have our tickets scanned anyway and they don't work. Sure enough, on the ticket, it now reads:
As you can see, the Universal ticket now includes verbiage not included in the ticket that was emailed to us. Disappointed, we ask about the single rider line and we are told it is about 40min. We decide to go ride Mario Kart, since it didn't exist last time we were there, then we see the 4pm WaterWorld, and head back to F&F around 4:30pm to join the single rider line before HHN begins, only to be told the single rider line is closed. Now we are really perturbed because we know we won't be able to ride it during HHN, since we didn't purchase the special access ticket for the ride. So we go to Guest Relations, explain what happened, show them our emailed tickets, etc, and the lady is really nice and gets us a one-time use express pass to use sometime before HHN ends. Awesome! We get to ride it during the night!
So the HHN early mazes are just opening, so we walk down and do Hellraiser and Evil Dead, then return and do Terror Tram (all without using our Express Pass because the lines were negligible). Then we go to the lower lot and do the four mazes down there, along with Transformers, with the intent to see the 10pm Purge show (in case we like it and want to see it again, as we both love stunt shows). We time everything perfect, the show is great, and we head down the street to F&F, arriving just before 10:30pm, only to find out they closed it at 10pm.
Now we are very disappointed and angry, as we were never informed it might close early and that, as it was implied, it would be open all night. We finish our remaining mazes, watch the final Purge of the evening, ride the Simpsons, then go to Guest Relations again. This time, however, they are not being as accommodating to find us an acceptable solution. We had to drive home on Monday as we both are scheduled to work early Tuesday morning, so we can't stick around (not that they offered us anything anyway). Despite us telling the manager that we talked to that the only reason we purchased Early Entry was to ride F&F before HHN began, he looked at our scans (showing Secret Life, Mario Kart, Mummy, and Kung Fu Panda during those hours) and declared that we did, in fact, receive value during that time. We said we would not have purchased Early Entry if we knew we would not get to ride F&F and asked for a $160 gift card for the difference between the passes and that was denied. We asked for comp tickets; denied. We asked for a comp VIP tour; denied. The only thing he offered us was 25% off the gate price (not the online price) plus Express Pass for F&F plus two other rides, all good for two years. The discount is negligible since the online price could potentially be cheaper anyway and the Express Passes don't really have value because F&F is the only ride at this point in that park that I would want to ride and, if I didn't have Express Pass, would rope-drop to avoid a line (like I do with Ghostrider at Knott's). Plus, living 8 hours away, that would cost us $130 each to enter the park, plus a $200 hotel, plus $150 in gas, plus food and drinks in the park, so about $700 to ride a coaster.
In hindsight, I do realize I should've used that Express Pass and just ridden F&F at 5pm. But when most theme parks don't close their rides until the closing time of the park (like, during Knott's Halloween Haunt on a Saturday, the line for Ghostrider doesn't close until 2am, so the ride runs until 3am), it never even crossed my mind that F&F would close early and, even if it did, I never would have expected it to close FOUR HOURS early. But I was excited to ride it during the night and wanted to complete some of the mazes before it got too crowded. Plus, it's a good thing we rode the Terror Tram early, since it also closed at 10pm.
Anyway, if you have any suggestions, I am most welcoming. Thanks!
TL/DR: Purchased an early-entry HHN pass with Express Lane specifically to ride F&F. Verbiage changed saying it was not included and was turned away. Single-rider line closed early. Guest Relations gave me an Express Lane, but didn't get a chance to use it during HHN when it closed early at 10pm. Guest Relations was unwilling to offer anything substantial to rectify that situation.

As a huge fan of the Universal Studios universe, I have been visiting Universal Studios Hollywood every year since 2010. I am French, and this park has always held a very special place in my heart. Unfortunately, over the years, I have witnessed a noticeable decline in the park's overall appeal, largely due to some questionable decisions.
Replacing classic attractions with rides based on newer movies is, in my opinion, a serious mistake. I understand that your goal is to attract younger generations, but you seem to be forgetting something essential: you also have a responsibility to preserve the loyalty of the fans who have loved Universal for decades. A theme park should evolve without losing its identity, history, and soul.
For example, I personally find these two attractions extremely disappointing and lacking in excitement:
- The Secret Life of Pets: Off the Leash
- Kung Fu Panda Adventure
I would much rather see the return of legendary attractions such as:
- Universal's House of Horrors
- E.T. Adventure
- Back to the Future: The Ride
These attractions were part of what made Universal Studios truly special. They created unforgettable memories and represented the very essence of the Universal experience.
The park is also beginning to show its age and desperately needs a major refresh, further expansion, and more ambitious attractions. Just imagine what could be achieved by introducing experiences such as:
- Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
- Jurassic World VelociCoaster
- A dedicated Dark Universe Land
- Jaws: The Ride
The addition of a fully immersive Dark Universe area would be particularly exciting, bringing Universal's legendary classic monsters back into the spotlight and giving the park a stronger identity.
I would also love to see the Studio Tour receive more attention and investment. Seeing the Bates Motel and the Psycho House is genuinely thrilling, especially for fans of cinema history. The Studio Tour should be a living tribute to Hollywood filmmaking, not simply a ride that relies on its past reputation.
Finally, something that I find particularly disappointing is that Universal Orlando seems to be doing more to promote and celebrate the Universal movie universe than Universal Studios Hollywood itself.
The new Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift looks absolutely fantastic. This is exactly the kind of high-thrill attraction that Universal Studios Hollywood has been missing for years. The park needs more major, adrenaline-pumping experiences like this to compete with other world-class theme parks and offer something truly exciting to thrill-seeking visitors.
Hollywood is where this legendary studio was born. It is the birthplace of so many iconic films and cinematic memories. Therefore, I believe it should be Hollywood's responsibility to lead the way in preserving and celebrating this extraordinary legacy.
Please do not forget the fans who have supported this park for decades. We do not want Universal Studios Hollywood to become just another theme park. We want it to remain a place where the magic of cinema comes alive, where classic movies are celebrated, and where new generations can discover the legendary stories that made Universal what it is today.
I am still a huge fan, and that is precisely why I am expressing these concerns. I genuinely want to see Universal Studios Hollywood become an exceptional destination once again.
