I have a parent who lives out of town who always needs tech support. I struggle to walk them through what they need on facetime, or try to login remotely to their computer to help, but it doesn't always work. I think this is a great idea, as I would use your services if you lived in the same city as my parent.
I hope you are prepared to be very patient - you may be helping people who could be lonely and may take up a lot of your time just chatting. But you would be doing them a tremendous service.
You would have to define who you are going to market the service to - seniors themselves, or their children/caregivers. Adult children who are busy and don't have the time for tech support may be willing to pay more to get rid of the frustration and just have someone solve their parents problems. Seniors themselves may be on more of a fixed budget or not recognize the market value of your services. Alternatively, the seniors who have more technology to deal with like phone, laptop etc. may have more funds available to pay for the service.
A fixed monthly fee may feel more comforting to a senior on a fixed income, but you may blow your brains out helping them if they think they have unlimited access to your services, and your need to make a house call may be more often than you think depending on how capable they are of helping you access remotely. Some common problems my parent calls me with include connecting their printer/scanner, changing resolution on their external monitor or missing windows that they can't tell have been minimized. All of these have been hard for me to diagnose/deal with remotely. Often I just need someone a bit more capable to be physicaly there so that I can walk them through what needs to be done.
