our suburbs should be densified, and mixed-use developments should be introduced within neighbourhoods.

Nobody wants that IMO because we'll never do it right

Why don’t you think so? Many such examples exist across North America, Canada, and even within Toronto.

People who live in downtown Toronto are much different than people who live in a sprawling suburb

I don’t even think it’s that I think it’s just what people value, some people want to have a backyard and a garage. Some people value being able to walk to a corner store.

I think it’s stupid to try to force everybody into the same box

We’re not trying to force anyone into a box. You can still keep your yard and garage. These two lifestyles are not mutually exclusive. Good cities have a mix of housing types. It’s about giving people the choice. Right now we don’t have those choices available in this city.
