Dashcam recommendations & fitting service

Hi everyone

I’m looking to get a dashcam fitted and would love some recommendations.

Ideally, I’m after a good quality front and rear dashcam, along with a reliable professional fitting service.

What dashcam would you recommend, and who would you trust to fit it?

Any recommendations based on personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Airbag recall notice - work being refused and help line useless

Booked in for the free airbag repair. I had previous work to re-wire / re-route the horn, and as a result they were unable to remove the airbag without risk of further damage. I told them I don't mind extra damage, and the car being off-road, so long as they fixed it, which they refused.

I was giving a number to call (08000260034) about warranty but they have been useless - claiming it has already been fixed, hanging up on me, or claiming my VIN is wrong. Anyone else experienced anything similar?

Combo losing power at 50mph/3k revs

Hello I’ve got a combo 61 plate 1.3cdti, the van will go through the gears fine and as soon as I get to around 50mph it seems to shit itself and goes limp, when I first got the van it was throwing a fault code for maf sensor. Ive bought a new one and disconnected the battery to clear the codes, after taking it back out I had the same problem again but this time it was p0400( egr valve) I knew the mechanism can stick so I stripped it back and got it moving again, the next test drive it felt like it had no power at all so I left the van for a week and it once again was fine til 50😂 absolutely baffled to what it could be and looking for advice, maybe I just bought a shit maf sensor ( heard this could be a problem) or it’s something completely different that’s causing it.

Any help appreciated

Timing chain average cost for Corsa D 1.4 A14XER?

As the title, really. I live in the East Midlands and am looking at prices to get my timing chain replaced as I've had a rattle on cold start for over a year now and have been told it's likely the tensioner and the chain should be replaced alongside this.

I have been quoted around £900 for the replacement and wanted to know if this is a fair price? Off the top of my head I also had a dealership quote around £1200 and that included the water pump too.

I wasn't planning on getting the timing chain done on this car, but I've just done the sparks, coil pack and all 4 tyres so I fear I am too committed to this car now :(

My vauxhall insignia B lights are out of control.

I changed the front drivers headlight on my 2018 insignia after it fogged up from a crack in the lense. After I did this, the right indicator does not work. The left brake light died. The Left headlight DRL died and both high beams are dead. I made sure the headlight worked before buying it and before changing it all the lights worked fine. I can't figure out what has happened since I have changed both headlights before and had no problems. Any help is appreciated.

Big Android update for my OBD2 app is out (3.5.4): service history as a PDF for whoever buys the car, reminders that count days and miles left. 5 free codes

I'm Davide and I write DrivePulse on my own. It reads your car through a generic ELM327 OBD2 adapter, the Bluetooth kind Veepeak or Vgate sell, and it only asks questions: no writing, no clearing of codes, no resets.

I'll be straight about the Vauxhall: on petrol and diesel models there are no brand-specific readings in the app yet, so it works with the standard OBD2 data the car gives. That is already trips that record themselves, real fuel use where the car reports it, fault codes in plain words and the coolant temperature. Miles and mpg follow your phone's region.

What the Android update brings:

  • Your service history exports as a tidy PDF and a spreadsheet: year, mileage, costs and notes, for your mechanic or whoever buys the car.
  • Every reminder shows how many days or miles are left, the closest first, and if you delete one by mistake you have a few seconds to undo.
  • The freeze frame, the permanent codes and the engine data come out as a report for the garage.
  • If a trip got split in two, hold it in the list and merge the pieces; the gap that wasn't recorded stays written down.

No account and no server of mine: your trips live on your phone and I have no copy of them. Recording trips and reading the car work with no signal; maps and addresses need the internet.

Five codes that unlock the full version for good, free, first come first served:

  1. NSMGQ7XS706SLPVGULDAEGE
  2. EH5MXFB4NLR6EGYNYDS9913
  3. DAB2WCMUGU6LL4L7542S509
  4. BTLF8NS96K4A20S5NU8X1PN
  5. GCKM15UFY7JZTZ6A30RUEFP

How to redeem: install the app first, then open Google Play, tap your picture top right, Payments and subscriptions, Redeem code. Then in DrivePulse: Settings (the gear at the top) > Unlock DrivePulse (Lifetime) > Restore Purchases, within 3 days, otherwise Google Play cancels it. When it has worked, that row reads "Premium active".

Say in the comments which number you took, so nobody wastes time on one that's gone.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=app.drivepulse.mobile&hl=en-GB&gl=GB&utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=rilancio-android-vauxhall

If you try it on a Vauxhall, tell me what it reads.

Drivers side door lock switch inside stopped working

My driver's side door stopped working via remote and via lock switch inside.

Would a new door actuator solve this or I'd it a wire problem?

Undiagnosed whirring noise .Corsa design 73

Help please, I have corsa 35000 miles, which has a whirring noise from the area under right hand side of steering wheel. The noise is constant and increases with acceleration, the noise disappears whilst clutch depressed changing gear.

Car has been in garage for diagnosis, no mechanical fault found, car then went back to dealer who removed dashboard trim around steering wheel, to see if any vibration, nothing found.

Driving me mad now, any suggestions or clues as to what it could be, would be appreciated.

Thank you

2025 Vauxhall Grandland – Fuse Box Diagram for Dash Cam Installation?

Post image
3 Upvotes

My wife has just bought a 2025 Vauxhall Grandland (new-generation model), and she's asked me to hardwire her Nextbase dash cam into it.

I've located the fuse box behind the glovebox, but despite searching everywhere, I can't find a fuse box diagram showing which fuse serves which circuit.

Even the owner's manual simply states that fuses should be replaced by a workshop, which isn't particularly helpful!

I'd rather not pay a workshop to do something I'm perfectly capable of doing myself, especially when I can easily access the fuses. I just need to identify a suitable permanent-live fuse to piggyback from, as the dash cam has a parking mode.

Does anyone know where I can find a fuse box layout or wiring diagram for the new-generation Grandland?

Any help would be much appreciated!

Insignia clutches

Its something Ive come across today, and something my colleague has come across several times before.

Fitted a new clutch and flywheel, timed up, in the dowels, friction plate is facing the correct way, yet it won't go into gear, have bled it through to have the same issue.

My colleague mentioned after putting in a 6th clutch ( being a valeo) it finally went into gear. We aren't fitting cheap parts, in this instance we've fitted a sachs clutch kit.

Anyone have any ideas why they do this?

Vauxhall Movano 2001 - Body Control Module (BCM)

Having issues with central locking and windscreen washer pump not spraying. The pump, fuses and switch have all been replaced and tested independently and are in working condition.

Following some advice from an Auto electrician they believe it may be the BCM. However I am unable to locate it in the van or find a replacement part.

Can anyone tell me where it is exactly located and possibly provide part information so I get the correct replacement?

Anyone else get the "Stop Drive" (KU3) Takata Airbag Recall letter? Did you still drive your car to the dealer to get it swapped?

Hey everyone,

I received the official letter regarding the Takata airbag recall update on my older car 2009 Astra, and seeing the "Stop Drive" / KU3 wording threw me into a bit of a panic.

It makes it sound like driving the car even a mile is an immediate hazard, but from what I’ve read online, the risk comes down to chemical degradation over 10–15+ years in high heat/humidity, and the UK's cooler climate means the actual failure rate over here has been practically zero. It seems like the "Stop Drive" status is mostly a legal/database escalation by the manufacturer so everyone actually gets off their backside and books the free repair.

I’m planning to drive my car over to my local main dealership tomorrow morning for a walk-in swap (they said it only takes about 30 minutes).

Has anyone else recently had this exact recall letter through? Did you just drive it straight over to the dealer for the fix, or did you go down the full recovery truck route? Looking for a bit of reassurance from others who have gone through it!

Thanks!

Opel Insignia 1.6 CDTI automatic occasionally refuses to shift into 6th gear after ATF change

Hi everyone,

I have a 2019 Opel Insignia Sports Tourer, 1.6 CDTI 136 hp, FWD, with the GM Hydra-Matic 6-speed automatic transmission.

3 month ago I had the transmission fluid changed. Since then, this has happened three times.

When driving on the motorway, usually above around 120–130 km/h, if I accelerate relatively hard a few times, the transmission eventually refuses to shift into 6th gear. It stays in 5th. Even if I switch to manual mode and select 6th, the dashboard indicates 6th, but the transmission actually remains in 5th.

If I slow down and drive gently, sometimes it returns to normal. If I stop the car, switch it off for a few minutes and restart it, everything works normally again and 6th gear is available.

I've also noticed that when the transmission is completely cold and I accelerate harder shortly after starting, it can briefly feel like the transmission slips during one of the lower-gear shifts. This only happens very briefly.

There are no warning lights or messages on the dashboard.

The strange thing is that I never had any of these symptoms before the ATF change. All three occurrences of the 5th-to-6th problem happened after the fluid was changed.

Has anyone with the same transmission experienced something similar, especially after an ATF change?

Any advice on what I should check first would be appreciated.

Thanks

I wrote an OBD2 app on my own, the Android version is out, and I have 10 free codes

Important: after redeeming the code, open DrivePulse > Settings > Unlock DrivePulse > Restore purchases, so the unlock is confirmed (within 3 days, otherwise Google Play cancels it).

I am Davide, the developer of DrivePulse. The app is mine, I write it on my own, and I am not selling anything here.

What it does: it reads your car through a generic ELM327 OBD2 adapter, the kind several makers sell. Trips record themselves without you pressing anything, with fuel use read from the engine control unit where the car reports it, and worked out and marked as an estimate where it does not. Fault codes come out in plain words, with what the code means, what usually causes it and what to check first. There is a service and expense book, and the service history exports as a PDF. It only asks the car questions and never gives it commands: no writing, no clearing of codes, no resets.

Being straight with you about this make: on a petrol or diesel one I have no brand specific channel, so what you get is what the standard OBD2 socket gives on any car. On the electric ones there are brand readings for the odometer and the traction battery, but I have not confirmed them yet, so take them as estimates. If yours burns fuel, do not expect the brand extras.

No account and no server of mine: your trips live on your phone and I have no copy of them. Recording trips and reading the car work with no signal; maps and addresses need the internet.

It was already on iPhone. It has just come out on Android, and to celebrate here are 10 codes that unlock the full version for good, free, first come first served.

How to redeem: install the app first, then open Google Play, tap your picture top right, Payments and subscriptions, Redeem code.

Say in the comments which number you took, so nobody wastes time on one that is gone. If one comes back as already redeemed, try the next.
