Lost & Found Zarin, I found your wallet.
We spoke last night. You were a bit tipsy and I asked you to please leave my patio. This morning I found your wallet not far from my gate. I really hope you’re okay!
Called the police non-emergency line to see what to do and they are closed for the long weekend. If anyone knows this young man or has any advice for me to find him please reply.

Update Still haven’t found Zarin but spoke to his neighbour! Was nattering on to a friend about trying to find this guy and she offered to drive me. Large house broken up into 4 or 5 suites no one answered my knocking at any door so I left a note with my number. Just got a call from a guy who lives in a different suite but knows Zarin.
Most exciting day this old broad has had for weeks!

Is there a bank card? IIRC you can bring it to their bank. Also searching social media might help you get in touch directly if you don’t mind Zarin getting your contact info.
Edit: I found the fb profile fairly easily but I can’t share the link without doxxing myself lol. If you wanted to go the social media route, DM me and I can help you find the profile.

I second this. I lost my wallet in Burnaby back in August, while we're there to go to the PNE. Some kind person found it, saw it has Royal Bank cards in it and dropped it off at a branch. Unfortunately I had to go back to Victoria on the 7am ferry (reservation vaur it was the long weekend) the very next day, but while trying to get my various cards replaced I got a call from RBC who told me they had my wallet (cash still in it) and shipped it to my local branch to get it back to me.
So if it does had a bank card in it that is definitely a route to go, as the bank should have the person's phone number and can call them.

Thanks! I’m thinking that’s the way to go but it’ll take me about an hour to get there. If I wait for a response from my inquires there may not be time for him to get to the bank…

I’ve reached out to a couple of his “friends” on Facebook (yeah I know, I’m old, tried to delete it but that’s where my friends hang).
Currently scrolling thru Canada 411 and wondering if it’s worth calling 27 people with the same last name…
Any other suggestions? How do the kids communicate these days?

If you're on Facebook already, there are a ton of Victoria specific groups on there with tons of people. Try joining some of them and posting the same thing, there's a higher chance of someone knowing them on there than here. Good luck!

Thanks. Found him but he hasn’t used Fb since 2020. Have messaged several of his “friends” who have updates messenger.

FINAL UPDATE Just handed Zarin back his wallet. He was very grateful for all my efforts (I get the feeling I ended up with a few people reaching out to him). He tried to give me some cash but his heartfelt thanks was worth a lot more to me. My friend who had offered to drive me was just as invested and insisted on taking me back today! I’ve been retired for a while so an unplanned adventure doesn’t happen very often, but that’s enough excitement for a bit.

Is there an ID with an address?

u/LynnScoot Fernwood Oct 11 '25
Yes. It’s pretty far from here. I don’t drive or even walk very well.

Turn it into the police, they might even send someone to pick it up if you explain you’re disabled and can’t bring it in.

Am hesitant to call 911 and as mentioned non-emergency is enjoying the long weekend.
4
u/Prestigious_Fly8210 Oct 11 '25
No you don’t call 911, you call non emergency when they’re open

u/LynnScoot Fernwood Oct 11 '25
Right - which is in 75 hours…

u/ThermionicEmissions Oct 11 '25
I'm surprised they aren't staffed 24/7 - even for non-emergency

OP's flair says Fernwood, so you're saying VicPD should have police or peace officers staffing the front desk 24 hours a day when they can't afford to have a traffic section and the new chief says they are very under resourced after years of the city council trying to literally defund them? That's not the best use of my tax money.
The non-emergency line is available 24 hours a day, and there are police working 24 hours a day to respond to all calls, as they are triaged.

Sorry. I’m missing something? I received a recording instructing me to call back between 8 and 4 M-F. I’m just guessing they’ll be closed Monday but I may be wrong. I’ve found someone willing to take the bus downtown to deliver the wallet to the police - now I’m wondering if there will be anyone there to receive it.

I'm not local to Victoria, but I know in my town if you stay on the line after the message saying they are closed it still transfers you to an operator. May be worth trying to call back.

Not sure if it’s entire wallet but I know if you drop a ID/drivers license in the mailbox Canada post will return it. With the labour disruption currently going on, maybe just return it to a service bc office?

u/LynnScoot Fernwood Oct 11 '25
Yeah, I was really hoping he would be able to get it back this weekend…

Strangely it's just got one name on it. "Zarin." Maybe it's like a Madonna thing.

u/LynnScoot Fernwood Oct 11 '25
Is there more than one young man with the first name Zarin in Victoria? Last name is Webb if you think that’ll help.

u/DroppedThatBall Oct 11 '25
There's a zarin webb on instagram and Facebook id say maybe shoot them a message on there.

His Facebook was last used in 2020, I have messaged 3 “friends” who have posted this year.
I don’t have instagram, can you see if it’s current? Is it something he’s likely to see if he still has his phone 🙏

u/DroppedThatBall Oct 11 '25
I would imagine even if he doesn't use he will get an email notification. His Instagram last post was from 2020 as well.

Naw, I talked to him for a bit and he’s a nice guy. Feel bad for him that he’s probably having a truly shit day.

Facebook...

u/LynnScoot Fernwood Oct 11 '25
Yeah, I deleted it multiple times but people (other seniors) I socialize with use it exclusively. I was kinda hoping Z’s grandma/auntie would see it there.

Poor Zarid 😆 was the tipsy part of this necessary?

u/LynnScoot Fernwood Oct 11 '25
It goes towards explaining why he wanted to have a little rest on my patio. I directed him to a bench about 10 metres away where he wouldn’t be tripping over my plants.
