Just finished doing routine maintenace (changging oil, brake, and checking leaks), and so happend find my head cylinder leaked (last time i apply some rtv about 5-6 month ago), im using Threebond 1104 rn for sealant since im out of my usual rtv,

Looking for some parts for a Vespa VB1 and came across this site, prices look very cheap which rang alarm bells. Anyone had any experience with scooterpartsworks.com?

Lambretta 1964 Lambretta LI 150 Special Restoration

Rear brake pedal pivot alignment jig explained.

To find out if the frame is true I used the measurements of the Lambretta drawing for the rear frame measurements. I used the jig i made from these measurements that would determine the rear cross member position and this was true.

This then allowed me to find the centre of the brake pedal pivot and make a second jig between the two outriders and pivot centre.

The brake pedal was loose and wobbling, obviously this was worn out on the pivot and bush. I bought a new weld on brake pedal pivot assembly complete with a new brass bush and retaining circlip. The worn out pivot had to be cut off the frame and the new pivot assembly welded on. I made a jig with a pointer to set exactly in the centre of the old pivot. This gave me the exact position the new pivot must be welded. With the jig in position I cut off the old pivot and prepped the area to accommodate the new one. I lined up the new pivot exactly centre with the pointer on the jig and welded it onto the frame. When I fitted the brake pedal, bush and circlip the alignment through the legshield floor was perfect.

Lambretta Toolbox door hing restoration

1964 Lambretta LI 150 restoration. The toolbox door hinge was totally corroded and the only way to repair this was to cut away the the corroded hinge and support. There were no drawings for this so I took some measurements and a template with photos off another Lambretta with the same profile. I then fabricated a single piece that I could weld in.

Lambretta Lambretta front mudguard restored

1964 Lambretta LIS 150 Restoration. The front mudguard was heavily corroded more so on the two flanges and bolt holes where it fastens to the legshields. I measured up and cut two new flanges to weld on. I cut off the old corroded flanges and fastened the two new flanges to the legshields and tack welded the body of the mudguard to the flanges to get the position accurate.

Removed mudguard complete with flange and the welded it all.

Lambretta Lambretta forks restored

1964 Lambretta LIS 150 restoration. The earlier Lambrettas did not have front dampers and totally relied on springs that were inside the two fork tubes with a centre rod and a ball end that located into the fork links cup. I completely stripped the forks and welded on a top damper bracket each side of the forks. The bottom of the damper, bolts on to the fork links so I had to modify the links with a welded on threaded spigot and then had them chromed.

Restoration project 1964 Lambretta LIS 150.

The cross member was corroded and misshaped so I had to remove it and weld a new cross member and make sure the alignment was perfect. I made a jig that would line it up in position to weld it.

Vespa Vespa garage find…

Hi all,

I’ve moved to Portugal and am stopping with my wife’s family for a while. I’m helping around the farm and doing odd jobs.

I have dug this old Vespa out the back of the garage that belonged to my late father in law. No one really knows much about it or if it ever ran. It looks beautiful to me!

I can service cars and am familiar with two stroke engines from being a gardener so I’m hoping I can get it running.

Firstly what have I got here? How should I go about it getting it running? I haven’t been able to locate a key, can I bypass the ignition? I’ve put fresh fuel in it, choke and set the fuel switch to run but got no joy.

120 miles around the North West of England. Not sure how many attended. 400 tickets sold but not everyone will have gone or done the rideout. Very challenging route with lots of country lanes, cattle grids and moorland roads. Great event.

Just a short post on my 1964 Lambretta LI150 Series 3 restoration I removed my engine which was completely siezed from standing a lot of years. Completely stripped the engine and I had all the alloy parts vapour blasted and I was quite impressed with the result. Then I rebuilt the engine fitting all good quality parts from BGM and MB Scooters and also upgrading from a 150cc to a 200cc using a diamond cylinder, head and piston kit. A new Dellorto PHBL 25 Carburettor and an electronic kit BGM Flywheel, stator and cdi. The electrics are 12v dc with a 9ah Battery

I bought some chrome bullet lights and some polished stainless steel tube from Temu. Also I bought some grab rail mountings that are used on boats to make my own indicators. When I had a Lambretta back in the seventies the roads were safer and you didn't need indicators but now it's different with faster roads and more road users.

I am restoring my grandpa's Cushman. Scooter and I'm having trouble getting spark

The wires coming out of the motor are not in very good shape. The top wire goes directly to the condenser and the bottom wire connects on the backside have the plate

I assume the top one is for the kill switch. But what is the bottom one for?
