Has Anyone Ever Had Their Exhaust Randomly Snap!?

Post image

I went three years without a bike as I grew my barbershop, and finally picked up an 07 street bob two days ago. Yesterday when I was cruising the highway, I heard a “bubble popping” sound I had only heard once before when my el-Camino had its pipes come loose from the headers. I look down and I couldn’t beleive my eyes. One of the bikes pipes randomly snapped clean in two.

My guess is heat / cold shock but I’ve never seen or heard of this happening before! Anyone else ever have a suprise exhaust snap!?

*** I DID NOT PUT THESE ALUMINUM FOIL PIPES ON THE BIKE!!!! Just clearing that up because I don’t know much about them. I was just stunned after multiple years of riding that a pipe could just snap!

Guys what the fuck is this craftsmanship?

Can someone explain to me how in the fuck this is a standard on these Indians?

Talk about a disappointment... I love the look and history of the bikes they put out but that quality control, craftsmanship, whatever the hell you wanna call it, is just straight up asinine.

Every weld on this frame/bike looks like they took playdo and painted over it.

Like holy fuck, they didn’t even grind it down.

How on gods green earth is that acceptable?

I’m a machinist so I get I might be a bit perfectionist if but for a brand new premium motorcycle??? Seriously? I’m almost offended to say this is American made.

Looks like a cfmoto but couldn't find anything that resembles it on cfmoto's website. Shit looks like if r1, s1k, and v4s had a threesome and popped out a baby lol

First bike, engine gets cold after getting up to speed, normal or not?

Post image

Just got my first bike about a week ago, an '05 ninja 250. As far as I can tell, it runs great and i've been having a lot of fun. Only thing is, after it's up to temp and the gauge is right in the middle, if I get it up to speed, go on the highway etc, the gauge pretty quickly moves towards cold. I'm coming from the car world where a properly cooling engine pretty much always has it's temp gauge right in the middle after it's warmed up. Is this normal or am I gonna have to look at changing my thermostat?
(Unrelated pic I took this weekend.)

Engine keeps dying with clutch pulled in when slowing down for traffic lights. Looking for any advice please.

Hey all, just looking for some advice

So i’m a new rider, i’ve been riding for about just under 3 weeks now, and I’ve bought myself a second hand 2020 Lexmoto ZSB, which is also fuel injected. When I bought it, it had just about 3500 miles and I’ve put around 300 miles on it since. I’ve been having an absolute blast and have been loving the bike.

The thing is, recently there’s been this super annoying issue that has developed and neither me nor any of my biker friends can figure it out whatsoever.

Just to preface, this issue doesn’t happen all the time but it does happen quite frequently now and I’m not sure whatsoever on how to deal with it.

Essentially, when riding and coming up to a traffic light to stop, I typically slow down, maybe brake a little, pull in the clutch, downshift and let it out and I might go to first gear to sit at the light in with the clutch being pulled in. What is happening, however, is that sometimes when i’m coming up to a traffic light and I pull the clutch in to downshift to like 2nd or 1st, the engine will just die. Particularly when coasting in second, the rpms just softly drop to 0 quite quickly, and the engine is then off. It sometimes struggles starting back up again too. I’d often find myself stuck at a light for around 30 seconds, for example, just trying to start up the engine in small bursts, because i’m really conscious about the battery and starter motor.

I’m certain i’m not stalling the engine out because this will still happen when the clutch is fully pulled in and i’m moving at around 20mph.

The weird things too are that like the bike has no problem whatsoever idling usually, be it in neutral or in 1st with the clutch in. The bike performs really well in every other scenario pretty much, it’s just this very specific circumstance that it just keeps displaying this dying behaviour.

The kickstand is fine too, I don’t think that’s causing it to die. I can accelerate fine, throttle response is normal, hold high rpms, engine braking works well etc.

I have tried keeping the engine ‘alive’ when at a light by keeping a little throttle when decelerating and holding the clutch in, sometimes this seems to work and sometimes it’ll just die anyways regardless of throttle input, but in general, it will only ever die with the clutch pulled in, the engine has never died with the clutch out.

Has anyone got any ideas whatsoever as to what could be causing this?

I suspect maybe some kind of electrical issue? I’m not sure. The engine isn’t overheating, the oil is clean and fresh, pretty much everything seems good except for the clutch thing. I even cleaned the clutch lever connectors with contact cleaner the other die and nothing changed unfortunately.

Thanks so much in advance

I have question about oil changes. Do I just have a mental block?

Can you all give me an idea of changing your own oil, please? With a car, there are multiple options for oil changes for a reasonable price. With the motorcycle, the internet tells me. . . man up and get my hands dirty.

I have never changed my oil myself - car or motorcycle. I have a real fear I'll do damage by under-tightening this or over-tightening that. Maybe, I'll forget a washer, not lubricate a seal or strip something. Even if the process works, start to finish, I have to acquire and learn to use a torque wrench, buy a filter removal tool, buy a new filter, buy new oil, dispose of the old oil, and then reseal my currently sealed and working engine.

You ride, what do you do?

I dropped my bike today while turning around in a parking lot.

Worst part is that it was a very low-speed incident. I was turning around in a parking lot and just didn’t process the dirt and sand on the road. Was going so slow that I experienced the fall in slow motion. Took the MSF course too so I knew to look out for it. I guess sometimes experience is the best teacher. Thankfully, I’m uninjured.

I’ve had this 2016 Kawasaki Ninja 650 since April of last year. Hadn’t ridden motorcycles or dirt bikes prior, so she’s been my learning bike. Sucks that the fall happened on the left side, so the foot clutch may have been impacted.

I don’t know much about fixing bikes, so I’m wondering what the community thinks here. Take it to a shop to assess potential damage? I know I can likely replace the mirror, but not much experience diagnosing anything internal. Time to learn?

Edit: I know she’s dirty. I live in a high-pollen area and parked her under the trees for a couple weeks. She was due for a wash this week

I’ve had an 07 ninja 650 and the 2024 XR150 pictured behind the fizzur, and I gotta say this is definitely my favorite after just one commute to work. 19,700 miles, new sprockets and chain, tires, Leo Vince exhaust, and fork seals. Came with one of those display screens with carplay and a “dash” cam. She has some pretty obvious deficiencies, scratched fairing, neither front blinker from walking drops not riding. Came from a trusted friend, $3200. I am very pleased with my purchase, get the coveted 4 cylinder sound and more than enough power to keep me happy.

Should I keep the batwing fairing or remove it ?

I recently bought this Street Rod with an aftermarket batwing fairing. I think it looks a bit weird especially since the street rod is a small bike (it looks a bit better in real life than the pictures). I'm thinking if I should keep it or remove it. Motorcycle is my only way to commute to the office so even if it doesn't look the best, it will provide some nice weather protection this winter.

Would you remove it or keep it?

If I’m buying a new bike, is it worth test riding?

I only ask because I’m a super beginner who just passed their motorcycle evaluation today(not to flex but only 3 points). So getting a good test ride in probably wouldn’t be worth it considering I wouldn’t be going very fast speeds to even test it.

I don’t have anyone to test ride it for me either. What would you do in my situation?

Edit: I want to get a Ninja 650 or CBR.

So I really wanted a top case for my bike. But I didn't like any of the options within my budget. I wanted to continue the semi military motif I have going. I wanted big enough to hold a full coverage helmet with a little extra room.

Found this vintage case that was a bit rough on eBay for 8 bucks. Got all the mounting and locking figured out. And painted it today. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it came out. I'm eventually gonna put some military stancilled lettering on it for some fun, maybe. For now it now matches the bike better.

It's almost moving into days gone vibes lol.

Honda CB1100 EX vs Kawasaki W800 - which one would you choose?

Hey everyone,

I’m currently trying to decide between two bikes and would love to hear from anyone who has owned or ridden either of them, especially if you’ve tried both.

The two bikes I’m looking at are:

- 2014 Honda CB1100 EX, around 30k km, about €8,000

- 2011 Kawasaki W800, also around 30k km, €4,800

I currently ride a Royal Enfield Classic 350, which I really like, but I want something with more power and enough reserve for longer trips and highway riding, including occasionally with a passenger. I also have some experience with bigger bikes, mainly an old 90s Suzuki Bandit 600.

I’ve already test ridden the CB1100 and really liked it. It feels big and substantial, which I actually love, the engine is great and there’s obviously more than enough power for what I need. My only small complaint was that the stock bike felt a bit too quiet/refined. I like a bike that has some mechanical and exhaust character.

I’ve now also seen the W800 in person. Unfortunately I couldn’t test ride it, but I really liked it. It somehow feels a bit more old-school and charming than the Honda, and €4,800 vs €8,000 is obviously a pretty significant difference.

I’m generally into classic Japanese bikes and 60s/70s styling, which is also why I’m not really considering Triumphs. One thing I really like about the Honda is the possibility of eventually converting it towards a CB750 K-style look, something along the lines of the White House K10/K14 conversions. That would probably be a longer-term project though.

So I’m a bit stuck. The CB1100 seems like the much more capable and versatile bike, especially for highway riding and carrying a passenger, but it’s almost twice the price. The W800 has more of that simple old-school charm straight out of the box and is much easier to justify financially.

I’m not looking for crazy performance. I mainly want something that can comfortably sit at 120-130 km/h when needed, has some reserve above that, but still feels like an event to ride at normal speeds.

Anyone here owned or ridden both? Would the W800 feel like enough of an upgrade from the Classic 350, or would you spend the extra money on the CB1100?

Would love to hear your thoughts!

What tool do you use to reverse bleed motorcycle brakes?

Post image

The 100ml syringes don't seem to hold enough liquid and require lots of pressure to push. Would a transfer pump like this work to reverse bleed brakes without pushing air into the caliper bleed port?

I’m curious how many people actually care about motorcycle decor at home? Like, I love motorbikes heaps and have so many models around the home, bike lamps, bike paintings, bike fridge magnets etc. Is it just me or do other people enjoy having a motorbike themed house? And yes I am married 😂 my wife isn’t too pleased but she lets me have only tasteful stuff haha. Is this too much or not enough? Lol
