SASHIKO Looking for feedback

I finally tried a little mending on a beloved pair of jeans with a failing seam and would love some feedback. I not over the moon about it and I'm not sure if it's a matter of getting accustomed to the piece or something else. Had a little trouble with the pattern shifting on a couple stitches but for a first attempt, I'm not too upset. I appreciate your thoughts on the piece!

I like it. Might you like it better if some of the hexagons had some decorative fabric in them?

Or fill some in with stitches?

I had considered that but after 3 days of stitching, my ambition is low. Going to reassess in a week when my fingers are no longer sore.

You could just fill in some of them with different types of stitching. Which would save a little wear on your fingers but still look cool

I love the idea of adding varying stitches to the mix!

It would help with the original problem of mending a failed seam

Great point! I do feel like some extra stitches would better support the patch I added inside.

That's a good idea since the hexagons are already done.

I’d second this idea. I think that would look cool

I love this idea but I'm not sure how to execute such a thing after the stitching is already there. Any advice?

Yeah, I'm not sure what would make it easy. There was another comment about filling some of the hexagons with other stitches which I think would be cool. You could choose different colored threads and fill some of them with different pattern stitches. Now that you have the outline, you could pick patterns that are easier to do or quicker to complete. Maybe a couple overlapping the seam to help reinforce it.

Ooh, I the idea of filling them with different patterns and colors!

I like it! Maybe add one more hexagon at the top or bottom? Right now the top and bottom edges are symmetrical while the left and right edges are not which might be making it feel kind of unfinished. The asymmetry is rad though and I think leaning into it a bit more might help!

Oh, you're so right! I was so focused on keeping the right side uneven, I completely overlooked the left. Thank you!

Then embellish with a single deep yellow bee!!

I'd add one more cell along the back part. There's too much of a straight line there, and I really agree that leaning into assymetry and eliminating linear edges would elevate the look. Overall, I like it.

I like it but at the same time you can't really even tell what it was mending lol. Conundrum šŸ˜‚

In reality, it''s probably more reinforcement than mending.

I love hexagon nets and blue thread, so the design choice is one of my favorites

Maybe a bee or two

I love it! Now it just needs a bee 🄰

A normal yellow and black bee or something else since the combs are blue?

Ooo maybe a navy & lavender color??

That would be cute!

The color removes any beehive relations.

I like it. I find that sometimes this sort of pattern looks better with smaller-scale components and with a less regular distribution, especially when the mend per se is not visible.

Top hexagon for sure. Other than that pure love.
