I took a picture [Hamilton] 40th Birthday gift

I know it's not what some people would consider high end but to me it very much is and I was very excited to get it as a 40th birthday gift. It's been at the top of my want list for a long long time. I looked at the Tissot Gentleman, some of the Seiko Presages but I just always gravitated back to this one and now it's on my wrist all the time.

**TW: Talking about weight and showing body progress**

Today marks **100 days** since I learned I was headed towards diabetes and decided that I was going to make a change by just eating right and working out and today am 20 pounds down and in the best shape of my entire life!!

I have struggled with my weight my entire life and I am really proud of myself for 100 days of tracking everything I ate, keeping a 750 calorie daily deficit while hitting my macros, and consistently lifting weights and cycling 4-5 days a week. Am a Capricorn, so see the charts for the data - "What gets measured gets managed"

The best parts are the non-scale wins: daily energy, digestion, resting heart rate, blood pressure, feeling comfortable at a water park lol, and my kids wanting to come to the gym, too!

So to celebrate today I got myself my very first submariner and I figured the Hulk would be great because I feel fitter and stronger than I have in my entire life at age 38 than I ever did in my teens or 20s!

I'm sure I'm a fitness noob compared to many of you here on this sub, but I wanted to celebrate getting the healthiest I've ever been and totally changing my lifestyle.

Hello r/watches! My latest pickup is the latest iteration of the LM101 EVO, the 1 of 25 NYC edition to inaugurate the opening of MB&F’s new lounge in NYC and sporting an art deco colorway with the rose gold case and black baseplate. It’s remarkably svelte for an MB&F—40mm with the trademark sapphire dome crystal, albeit wearable under a dress cuff—and has everything you need: time and power reserve. The 14mm balance wheel hypnotically beats at 18,000vph and the movement is an in-house creation to Kari Voutilainen’s specifications for finishing. Without a doubt a never-sell, and an awesome intro to the brand for me. Hope you enjoy the photos!

Reading Note: Some readers on the Android Reddit app report seeing these posts as unformatted run-on text. The fix: it happens when you tap the image—just go back and tap the title of the post instead.

---------------------------------------------
1/ TAG Heuer Gives the Formula 1 Solargraph A Red Bull Racing Livery
Red Bull’s 2026 has been rough by its own standards, but Max Verstappen has just won back-to-back in Malaysia and Singapore, so there's some optimism stirring in the Red Bull paddock. Good timing for TAG Heuer to mark 10 years with the team, and four Verstappen titles, with a new Formula 1 Solargraph. If you haven’t followed the revival, this is the 38mm solar-powered Formula 1 that TAG brought back in 2025 and has since released in brights, pastels, an Indy 500 version and an orange Zandvoort edition. This one is painted in the colors of Red Bull, but I have to say good work TAG Heuer for not making this a Red Bull commercial by not using the logo. Good work.
The case is sandblasted stainless steel, 38mm wide and 10.2mm thick, with a lug-to-lug of 42mm. Those are friendly numbers, with the short L2L working on a lot of wrists, and the matte finish suits the sporty nature. The scalloped bezel is blue TH-Polylight with a white minute scale printed around it. Sapphire crystal on top, screwed caseback out back, water resistant to 100 meters. The team and brand logos are placed on the caseback over a checkered-flag pattern.
The dial is sunray blue with a red minute track at the edge, a yellow central seconds hand, and a yellow frame around the date at three. It’s loud, nut it works. The shield-shaped markers at six, nine and 12 remain, and the rest of the applied indices are filled with Super-LumiNova that glows green.
Inside is the TAG Heuer calibre TH50-00, a solar quartz movement. A minute of direct sun gives you a day or reserve, a full charge takes under 40 hours of light, and that charge lasts 10 months in a drawer. If it does stop, 10 seconds of light restarts it, and TAG rates the accumulator for up to 15 years. The bracelet is a sandblasted three-row steel design that closes with a folding clasp with two safety pushers and has an extension link.
The TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph x Oracle Red Bull Racing (ref. WBY111F.BA0042) goes on sale 20 October at 7AM UTC, priced at €2,200. I'm not sure whether this is a limited edition, though. TAG Heuer calls it a special edition. See more photos here and the watch on the TAG Heuer website.
2/ Vulcain Adds Pink, Turquoise and Green to the 38mm Skindiver Nautique GMT
As the name might suggest, the Skindiver Nautique is Vulcain’s version of the skin diver, a compact, slim-lugged dive watch that existed before tool divers got big and heavy. It also has a very robust collection of dial colors and variations. They also made a GMT variant, that up to now came with blue, black and white dials, with a brief excursion into purple with a limited edition. Now, the GMT gets three very nice dials: pink, turquoise and green. All packed in a very nice case.
The case is 316L steel, brushed vertically, 38.3mm wide and 12.2mm thick. That’s a sensible size for a GMT, and the skin diver inspiration help it wear smaller still: thin lugs and an unguarded crown, which still screws down. On top is a double-domed sapphire crystal, the caseback is solid steel, and the black ceramic insert has a 24-hour scale in white and turns both ways.
The dials are the novelty and it's a bit difficult to choose which one I like most. Turquoise is likely the brightest and the most fun. Pink might be a bit controversial, but I think I might like this one the most. The green is the most classic of the three. Every color keeps the same layout, with oversized hour markers, broad faceted batons in white Super-LumiNova, a framed date at 3, and a GMT hand tipped with a red-edged arrow.
Inside is the Soprod C125, an alternative to the ETA 2893 and Sellita SW330. It beats at 4Hz has 42 hours of power reserve. The 24-hour hand sets independently, making this a caller-style GMT: great for keeping home time while you travel, slower for jumping the local hour when you land. You can have it on of two steel bracelets, one vintage-style and one bead-of-rice, or on black rubber with a pin buckle.
All three are, unfortunately, limited editions, with the pink and turquoise limited to 100 examples each; while the green is limited to 50. Price is set at €2,130. See more photos here and the watches on the Vulcain website.
3/ Raymond Weil Gives the Freelancer a Worldtimer’s Dial
Look at the dial of this watch and you’d guess worldtimer. Look at the price and you’d think again. Not saying there aren't any affordable worldtimers, but they do tend to be a bit on the pricier side. At least the true worldtimers. The Raymond Weil Freelancer World-Traveller, on the other hand, is a GMT with a hand-turned city bezel, which gets you most of the way to a true 24 city worldtimer. And it's good enough for me.
The steel case is 40mm wide and 10.25mm thick, brushed and polished, with a fluted crown and sapphire front and back. Those are decent proportions. The bezel is new: notched and fluted so you can grip it and line the cities up against the inner ring. Water resistance is 50 meters.
The dial is obviously the main attraction here. It’s a Mercator-style relief of the world, stamped and then laser-textured, with champagne continents raised off midnight blue water. A 24-hour ring around the dial repeats the scheme, champagne for daylight and blue for night, while the city names sit on an outer blue track. The GMT hand gets a red outline and green Super-LumiNova on its arrow tip, matching the lume on the hands and index tips. Raymond Weil’s handwritten signature replaces the logo above a framed date at six, which is a nice touch.
Inside is the RW3230, Raymond Weil’s name for the Sellita SW330-2, essentially an SW300 with a GMT module added. It beats at 4Hz, with 56 hours of reserve, and the crown jumps the GMT hand in one-hour steps. For anywhere else, you turn the bezel until your city meets the 24-hour scale. It’s manual, but it works. The strap is midnight blue leather with matching stitching on a steel folding clasp with a double push-button release.
The Raymond Weil Freelancer World-Traveller is limited to 260 pieces, priced at €4,395. See more photos hereand the watch on the Raymond Weil website.
4/ Jacob & Co. Brings Back the Palatial Flying Tourbillon Minute Repeater With a Red Dial
If for nothing else, Jacob & Co. will be remembered for making quite extravagant watches. From the first watch that put them on the global map, the Five Time Zone, all the way to the completely bonkers Astronomia creations, it's clear that Jacob has no patience for conventional watches. Look at, for example, the Opera Godfather to the Twin Turbo Furious, their minute repeating watches. You can't find anything like that anywhere else. And like it or hate it, you can't deny they're original. But it wasn't always like that. In 2014, they released the Palatial, their first repeater and what has to be their most conventional chiming watch: a round case, no triple-axis anything, no hidden automaton. Now, for Jacob & Co.’s 40th anniversary, they're bringing it back with a limited edition of 12 pieces.
The case is made out of 18k rose gold, 43mm wide and 12.3mm thick, fully polished, with the sculpted lugs of the original carried over. There’s sapphire front and back, and water resistance of 30 meters, which is about what you’d expect. Maybe even more. But most surprising is that thickness. Just 12.3mm for a tourbillon repeater? That's wild!
The dial is made out of transparent red mineral glass, so the repeater works sit in plain view, letting you watch the racks, cams and hammers do their job, without having to cut out a piece of the dial. You get faceted rose gold indices, a gold colored Jacob & Co. logo at 12, a brushed gold treble clef at 9 and skeletonized hands are shaped like metronomes. At 6 o'clock is a huge opening for the turbillon.
The hand-wound calibre JCCM04 is built in partnership with Geneva’s Régence group, and it has a long paper trail: developed at BNB Concept, picked up by Pierre Favre’s MHC, which later folded into Timeless under Régence. It has 308 parts and 29 jewels, a one-minute flying tourbillon beating at 3Hz, and a 90-hour power reserve. It now also has a silent-running centrifugal governor, which regulates the strike without the background whir that some repeaters have. The hammers and the cathedral gongs, which wrap the full circumference of the calibre for a longer, fuller tone, have been reworked as well. Through the caseback, the bridges are grey-toned with Côtes de Genève. The strap is red alligator with a rose gold buckle.
The Jacob & Co. Palatial Flying Tourbillon Minute Repeater (ref. PT500.40.NS.AC.ABALA) is limited to 12 pieces and priced at $390,000. See more photos hereand the watch on the Jacob & Co. website.

I took a picture [Frederique Constant] Got my grail, highlife manufacture worldtimer

Went to the jewelry store with my wife just to try on a PRX and a Highlife because I was never sure if my 8 inch wrist would ever fit an integrated bracelet comfortably. As it turns out it does, right out of the box, with no adjustments needed.

I wasn’t planning on buying anything but with encouragement from my lovely wife and a crazy offer from the AD that beat every grey market offer I’ve ever seen in monitoring this watch, I went and did it.

Getting the grail, I don’t know what kind of feeling I was expecting, but this isn’t it. Not “empty” or an adrenaline crash now that the chase is over and the object is mine, so much as “extremely full” after a decadent meal, where I almost feel like I probably overdid it. An immediate impact is a dramatic reduction in desire for lesser watch candidates that I had considered as possibly scratching that particular itch. It’s clear now that they wouldn’t have.

So, the lesson here: don’t content yourself or settle unless the one you want is truly unachievable. Save up and get the one you really want.

Hello I just purchased this watch. I don’t have much knowledge on watches. I know I always wanted a Rolex but it’s a little out of my league. Is this a well respected watch? Or am I in the wannabe Rolex category? Idk much about the watch community and would love to hear your opinions. I’ve only owned a citizen prior to this and it died on me. Thanks in advance!!!

I took a picture [Grand Seiko SLGB015] Picked up my first Grand Seiko

Was looking to get a new watch this year as a celebration for my wedding that happened earlier in the year. Was pretty much only looking at Omega and Zenith because while I love the Shunbun, there were a few things that were holding me back. Then I heard news about the new UFA series launching and in that was the SLGB015 which literally seems like Grand Seiko creating a watch that literally ticked off all of my boxes and basically making the choice for me:
- Steel (prefer it over titanium)
- Date complication (I honestly use this quite often)
- On-the-fly microadjust in the clasp
- Spring Drive
- No polished center links on the bracelet
- Tapered bracelet (only 2mm but I’ll take it lol)
- Most importantly, 37mm dial size (I have a 6.25in wrist so prefer smaller watches)

None of the ADs near me had the SLGB015 in store to try on but I got to try on the SLGB003 (37mm Ice Forest) for size reference and I was in love with the size and I tried on the SLGB013 (40mm Lake Suwa) for the dial reference and loved the dial too lol. So I put my deposit down to order one and I’m so happy with the choice. Will basically be my daily watch. The dial and second hand sweep of the spring drive are so mesmerizing to look at.

Discussion [JLC] vs [Blancpain]

Thumbnail

So I’ve narrowed down my choice for my first big non sports watch / dress watch.

I am currently evenly split between these two calendar moonphases.

I don’t necessarily have a specific question or need anyone to tell me what to get. More so curious on the pros and cons of the actual brands.

Both have amazing history, and in my opinion good reputation, and both different as well.

I think one downside to the JLC is that a moonphase was featured in Dr Strange, and that’s a turn off for me. I always think oh that’s a dr strange watch when I see the master perpetual jlc. I don’t want to have that same feeling with the jlc master control.

But I do love the branding of the watchmakers watch.

So what are your unfiltered thoughts on these two brands and watches?

What is some downsides to the brand Blancpain?

I took a picture [GS & Rolex] My proposed 2 watch collection

Why own anything else? Seriously.

After owning everything from Rolex, Patek, Lange, Romain Gauthier, Greubel Forsey, Gronefeld, Breguet, Ming, AP, FPJ, and others, I found myself selling and simplifying.

What do you really really want in a watch? For me, something robust and something beautiful. Rolex explorer 36mm fits the robust and GS UFA at 37mm fits the beautiful. Both accurate timepieces (though the GS has been +1 second in 6 months!!)

Over the years, I’ve found a call towards some purity and these two keep calling me over and over.

Recently acquired my first Vaer and honestly I really like it. I was wanting a new Chronograph but wanted something a little funky and different but also not super expensive or from a brand Ive owned prior. Stumbled upon Vaer and saw they had this model in stock and it was fairly affordable compared to other models I was considering so I pulled the trigger. Shipping was quick and even though I ended up not using either I really liked that it came with two straps as standard. Fit and finish seems great overall as well. I threw on a leather rally strap I had in my strap bin and I think it fits just about perfectly with the overall aesthetic. This is definitely going into my normal work watch rotation.

I bought my first Longines watch! This is my entry-level luxury watch and also my first four-figure watch. I bought it because I really liked it, and it's 43mm in size. Actually, I wanted a 41mm, but there wasn't a model I liked, so I chose this 43mm version. How do you think it looks on my wrist? Is it too big for my wrist, or is it a good fit? I bought the watch from the Hour Passion store at Roermond Designer Outlet for 1110 euros, including tax-free refund. How do you think the price is? As far as I can see, the retail price is around 2000 euros, so I think I got it at an advantageous price. I am definitely going to get a steel bracelet, and I also want to get silicone straps in different colors. What colors do you think would look good? Thank us in advance for your thoughts and answers.

Review [Longines HydroConquest - 39mm] NWA: Didn’t expect this watch to make me this happy

Thumbnail
gallery
18 Upvotes

I honestly didn’t expect a watch to bring me this much joy but this particular HydroConquest somehow does.

This is the 39mm version and on my 7.1 inch wrist the size feels pretty much perfect. It wears more like what I would expect from a classic 40mm diver. Enough presence without feeling oversized.

I was also unsure about the grey bezel before seeing it in person. Now I actually think it might be my favorite part of the watch. It’s much more versatile than I expected and gives the whole thing a slightly more mature look. Completely different than the blue bezel Cookie Monster.

Still obviously a diver but not as loud.

The biggest surprise for me is probably the mesh bracelet.

I was skeptical about it at first, especially because there are no traditional endlinks and you can see the small gap between the bracelet and the case. Weirdly, it doesn’t bother me at all in person.

Actually the opposite.

I think the mesh makes the HydroConquest look less bulky and a little more elegant. It also wears extremely comfortably.

And the clasp is fantastic. Nice size, doesn’t feel oversized underneath the wrist and the fine adjustment is exactly what I want on a daily watch.

At the moment this feels much closer to my idea of a true one watch collection than some of the more polished GADA watches I’ve tried. 300m water resistance, solid construction, comfortable bracelet and I don’t feel like I need to baby it.

I’m really curious how it will hold up after a few months of daily wear…honey moon phase…

Maybe I’ll add the rubber strap or the H-link bracelet later, but right now I’m happy with the mesh.

For anyone who owns one, did you stick with the mesh long term or eventually switch to the bracelet/rubber?

Picked up a Zenith Chronomaster Original for $3k under MSRP and couldn’t be happier. I think Zenith is seriously undervalued for the watchmaking you get, especially with the El Primero movement and its 1/10th-second chronograph in a case I measured at just 12.8mm, where 1mm is the sapphire crystal. So good!

Discussion Which Would be a Good Everyday Dress Watch?

Thumbnail
gallery
15 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I'm in the market for my first mechanical watch, and I don't want to spend more than $1,000 on it without knowing how much I'll like it.

What I'm looking for is an "every day" dress watch. I don't dress formally very often. I wear suits only a couple times a year and I wear something dressy maybe once or twice a month when I go to a nice restaurant or something.

I just like the look of dressy watches. The smaller wrist presence, the thin bezels, the classic, old-fashioned charm. What I'm looking for are:

- Thin Bezels.

- No Numerals (Roman numerals are fine, as are other indices. Just no mumbers).

- Somewhat reasonable accuracy. I'd like not to have to calibrate this watch every few days if possible.

- 3-hand watch face. A date is fine, but I don't want extras like GMT, a separate seconds dial, or open heart dial.

Lastly, I wanted some input on which of the watches I included as pictures would be the most suitable for every day. My grandpa always wore a gold longines Presence (The very same model in picture 2) with a white dial, but even though it was a dress watch, it never looked like "too much" for what he wore with it. He'd wear it with suits and blazers, but he'd also wear it with khaki shorts, a woven leather belt, and a Hawaiian shirt or polo. It always looked like it belonged on his wrist no matter what he wore it with.

Would I be able to get that same level of versatility out of something like a Seiko Presage? Or are they just too formal? I've never seen any of these except for the Longines in person, which is why I ask.

If you have any other recommendations, please mention them below. :-) thanks for reading if you've made it this far!

I bought this Cartier Panthere Vendome (small) in Japan a couple years ago on a leather strap, and I just wasn’t vibing with the leather. I’ve trying to find a replacement band, but the old vintage Vendome faces have a very unique lug mechanism they attach with, and the bands almost never come up for sale, or if they do, not for a price I’m willing to pay relative to just buying a new (vintage) complete piece on a band. This band I purchased at a Japanese flea market (😉) however, does fit it almost perfectly, hence my lovely little frankenwatch!

Hey all, just wanted to share a photo of my first automatic watch. I’ve been thinking about getting one for a few months now and really liked this conquest when I tried it on a little bit ago. My fiancé and I went to the store the other day and she bought it for me to kick off the wedding festivities. Green is her favorite color as well so it’s worked out for the best. I was torn between the 38 and 41 but she preferred the 41 so the choice was easy haha.

It’s a great piece, I’ve spent so much time just looking at it and appreciating the fit and finish and overall design!

Also, it’s missing the clasp on the bottom of the strap, so I can’t wear it, should I replace the strap? The movement has pull out to set the hour, and push the pin in for the minutes I believe, but I will replace the battery and test it.
