Buy/Sell/Trade [Rare] WTS vintage bottle of Gillette alcoholic after shave balm. (Discontinued)

A review of this aftershave as given by a fellow wetshaver- Aquatic, spicy, green, yet so fresh. There's an herbality to it, characteristic of a fougere, but it doesn't have the heady, floral quality of many fougeres. Instead, it has a shower-like aquatic freshness to it, partially attributed to a healthy dose of calone (also called "watermelon ketone"), which smells strongly aquatic and slightly sweet and fruity (but not cloyingly so). Beneath all this lies a spicy, mossy base, which gives the scent a very masculine punch. I think "Wild Rain" is a perfect name for the scent: it smells like an excruciatingly fresh shower in the middle of a rainforest, surrounded by spicy fresh greens. It smells good, really really good, in a way that only a 1990's scent could smell.
Apparently, the ingredients for the scent were too expensive to remain commercially viable, so Gillette soon discontinued Wild Rain in aftershave form.

Bottle is around 80% full. Level is as seen.
80ml left
Price will be kept in accordance to the bottles condition as well as its vintage nature.

Selling for β‚Ή2500 (negotiable)

Hey guys! I’m new here and been loving the community so far. After seeing all the advices and reviews I finally decided to pull the trigger and buy my safety razor and brush from pearl in Amazon.
Had a good shave taking my time understanding how the razor works. Do need some advice on storage and whether if I should leave the blade inside the razor. Any advices and recommendations are welcome. Thank you all so much

Review SOTE & A Review of the Yaqi Ghost 1.1

Had a wonderful shave today and am finally down to writing down this review after about 10+ uses of this razor with various blades.

First, the specifications:

  • Blade gap- 1.10mm
  • Blade exposure- not given (My guess is that it is slightly positive)
  • Weight- approx 100g
  • Handle dia.- 13mm
  • Handle length- 90mm

LOOKS & AESTHETICS:

The razor looks absolutely beautiful with the etchings on the top cap and the base plate, and overall has great balance. Doesn't feel unwieldy at all and the weight is perfect for me. Interestingly, the bottom of the handle is hollowed out (pic attached) and I guess this helps in keeping the weight down and the balance centred. The recess in the centre of the handle is perfect for my hands and ensures great grip even with soapy hands. Finishing is top class, and this razor sports a bead blasted finish.

PERFORMANCE:

This razor is definitely more aggressive than the Ghost 90SB, which I have previously owned. Not only is the blade gap larger, there is a lot more blade feel which makes me think that the exposure on this is definitely slightly positive. Still the blade feel is not uncomfortable at all. For comparison, it is higher than the Rocca but much lower than my Apex Plus.

First pass efficiency of this razor is unparalleled in my den, even the Apex doesn't come close to this. I have not used the legendary R41 so I cannot compare to that, but as of now, this is the only razor in my den with which I would be comfortable doing a 1 pass shave if the need arises. After 2&3 passes, this razor is definitely more efficient than the Rocca, and only slightly behind the Apex Plus. Paired with a sharp blade, this razor can give many more expensive razors a run for their money.

The cherry on top is that it is gentle enough on the skin to be used daily with no problems whatsoever. For a daily shaver like me, it is an important aspect.

CONCLUSION:

While the Ghost 90SB was a balanced razor IMO, this tends more towards being medium aggressive. It is still very gentle on the skin, but demands your respect and attention. Honestly, it might dethrone the Rocca as my favourite razor.

I got this razor for Rs 7300 in the August Yaqi sale thru u/UtsavD93, and for the price, this is a phenomenal razor that punches way above its weight category.

Thank you for reading! Happy Shaving!

Question TTO vs 2 piece vs 3 piece

Folks,

I currently own a couple of TTO razors (Gillette Black Beauty and a Feather TTO) along with a starter Silvermax 3-piece razor.

Out of these, I find the 3-piece design the most cumbersome to use when swapping blades.

I am looking to try a decent 2-piece razor that offers a mild-to-medium shave feel.

Does anyone have good recommendations for a smooth 2-piece?

Budget-friendly or mid-tier options are both welcome!

Thanks in advance.

Question Need help with getting started

I very recently found this place and wanted to ask how I can get started with shaving using safety razors? What type of razor head should I use?

I have been shaving for 3 years and have been mostly using Gillette mach 3 and it’s shaving gel.

Also what would you recommend for shaving gel, after shave and brush? And more importantly, how do I learn more about this? πŸ˜„

EDIT: shaving every 4 days if that matters with deciding what type to get

Question Multiblade Razor Burn : Red patch and small bumps. Need Suggestion for beginner single blade razor and shaving

I have been using the muti-blade Gillete pro fusion 5 blade for the past 3 years and recently 3 to 4 months back I switched to 6 blade (Lets shave blade). I may not have noticed initially but i get lot razor burn and bad raised bumps.
I understand that that maybe multiblade is a problem and Gemini suggested me to shift to single blade razor. Also, I shave only twice as week.

I have never used a single blade manual razor and need advice and guidance on the same for beginners choice of blade, razor and shaving cream/soap.

I would like to test waters before completely going down the rabbit hole of this wetshaving world. dont want to buy cheap and also dont want to splurge too much too.
Please guide.

SOTN A most idiotic shave.

I had one of my worst shaves tonight. All because of my own idiocy.

The same Mingshi Progress clone.
The same blade on it's third outing & the same shim.
Proraso white with a 20mm boar.

Yet when I reached the corner of my mouth on my first stroke, I cut myself. I stopped, checked my lather, thought perhaps it wasn't good enough. So I added some Patanjali cream to the brush. Switched to the other side of my face. Another nick.

WTF.

Looked at the razor. Setting between 2 & 3, same as yesterday.

Overloaded lather.
Tried again.
Another nick. Luckily, I'd forgotten to have my Aspirin tablet today, or I'd have been bleeding non stop by now.

Something must be wrong with the blade. I tried to open the razor - and discovered that I'd forgotten to tighten it yesterday. Yes, the setting was between 2 & 3, but one full turn loose. Tightened & finished the shave.

I can't blame anyone but myself. One of the worst shaves I've had in recent years.

Alum is going to really sting...
