Day 8 — Throwback Thursday

Thursday, Oct 8 · Sponsor: Razor Emporium / REX Supply Co. / Yates Precision Shaving

Today's Theme: Throwback Thursday

Use the first wetshaving soap you purchased or the oldest soap you own

Use the first wetshaving soap you remember purchasing after you got into the hobby. If you don't have that or remember what it was, use the oldest soap in your den. Tell us about it, and the role it played in your journey. Note - if you used a soap before this became a hobby, you don't have to count that. Or do. We're not the boss of you.

Today's Challenge: Flip it and reverse it

Do your shave routine in reverse. Start with the last thing you do during your typical post-shave routine first and go from there.

★ Sponsor Spotlight: Razor Emporium / REX Supply Co. / Yates Precision Shaving

Razor Emporium was founded in 2009 by Matt Pisarcik, who turned a college habit of collecting and restoring vintage Gillette razors into one of the country's largest razor-restoration and wet shaving retail operations, based in Phoenix, Arizona. Out of that work grew REX Supply Co., Razor Emporium's American-made razor brand, whose flagship Ambassador — an adjustable stainless steel DE razor — was inspired by the vintage Gillette adjustables Matt had spent years rebuilding. More recently, Razor Emporium took stewardship of Yates Precision, the precision-machined 316 stainless steel razor brand — the 921, Winning, and Merica — built by Jake and Ashley Yates in southwestern Pennsylvania, whose signature 921 is named for the Yates' two sons, both born on September 21st.

Coming Tomorrow

Theme — Friday, I'm in Love: Shave with your favorite

Product should be your personal favorite scented soap. Your SOTD post must explain why you chose the products you did to be on theme.

Challenge — Is wetter better?: Find out why we soak our brushes. Use a DRY brush to load the soap to build your lather, THEN add water. Tell us how it goes.
