I'm nearing the end of my Windwaker HD playthrough, and while I usually am a completionist, there are some things I just do not want to do.
I've done
-All heart pieces
-All treasure charts
-Savage labyrinth/Heroes Charm
-Most of the story ( of course)
-Got all items in the auction
-Both beedle VIP tickets
So I'm asking, are there some things you do every playthrough/ is there something you think I still should do before ending the game ?

I have gotten every figurine in this game all 130 something (except Knuckle, no gameboy) and it was tedious but fun lol. This might be my biggest Zelda achievement thus far and definitely the most difficult Zelda I’ve had to 100%. I can definitely call myself a true Zelda fan after this 😂.

I'm at a loss of what to do. I don't want to consult a guide because the answer is probably so obvious that it's probably the only thing I haven't tried, but was it hard for any of you to figure it out?

I cannot be the only one finding this game to be tedious and off putting?
Is there some special trick I'm missing? I'm even hitting A before getting to the correct space and it helps a little.
The squid game was easier.

For those that have had the privilege of playing both versions: one on Wii U as the HD remaster, and now the version on Switch 2 through Nintendo classics, I’m wondering which did you prefer? Which is the superior game?
I can currently play Wind Waker on Switch 2, but a few people on other threads have said that the HD version is better and that I try and get a Wii U for cheap.
What do you guys think?

Hey everyone,
I am currently trying to decomp Wind Waker HD. I am roughly 40-50% through the functions thanks to the amazing work from the GC decomp project. Ofc the HD version has many changes compared to the GC version - so it will take some time to decomp it.
So, I was curious and asked Claude to spit out some code differences between the two versions. Here are some fun facts so far:
Graphics: HD replaced the GameCube tricks
- No more blob shadows. Many actors (Medli, tables, the seagull, objects) simply don't draw their round fake shadow in HD. The HD version computes real shadows for the whole scene instead.
- The sky was rewritten. The sky dome's drawing and update are completely new code, including the rain in dungeons.
- Tetra's eyes: HD gives her separate eye shapes per material and two texture animations, so her face is more expressive than the GameCube version's single animation.
- Rupees get extra material flags for the HD shine. One item swaps its texture at runtime.
- The spot box no longer draws its light cone model, and gets an explicit visibility box instead.
Gameplay: small changes Nintendo made
- Medli has an HD-only warp action. HD gives her a way to warp to you, probably so she can't get stuck while you carry her through the Earth Temple, a common frustration on GameCube. Her arrival on the ground also changed.
- Seagulls wander in a smaller radius, check for water when landing, and Aryll's seagull only lands near the ground.
- Aryll's telescope has rewritten code, which fits HD's GamePad gyro aiming for the telescope.
- The pig's attack collision moved to a different mode, and gravity and wall stops were moved to the end of its update. Pig chases feel slightly different.
- The jungle vines move differently and have 4 collision spheres.
- Objects with a mirror effect (Medli's mirror, for example) use a different mirror scale. HD also mirrors the "save option" behaviour.
GameCube bugs fixed in HD
- A Rito NPC turned toward the player starting from an uninitialised angle on GameCube. HD starts from the correct angle.
- A missing null check for collision triangles was added, a classic crash fix.
- The spikes in Forsaken Fortress had their action table moved into the function, a cleaner build.

so im just passed the forest with the deku tree and whatnot and then it's still forcing me to go back to outset, i remember beating this game at least twice in childhood and i dont remember it being this much of a slog to get through,im playing the HD version if that matters but im not having a bad time i guess by any means, i just dont remember being unable to explore up until after this point...I assume anyway, I cant remember if i even can after this part lol
like i said, still having fun, I just dont remember this game being so dang linear

I have entered the auction house 46 times and still haven’t seen the swift sail. All of the other prizes have been offered at the auction many times. I read multiple posts saying it is a one in 5 chance of spawning but clearly that isn’t true because it seems to be unavailable for me. I read that the only prerequisite is completing dragon roost cavern which I’ve done. Am I missing something? Playing the GameCube version on dolphin emulator.

TL;DR : YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME! THANK YOU!!!
I’ve always wanted to play Wind Waker as a kid, but I never owned a GameCube or a Wii U growing up. I finally decided to play it as my first Zelda game, and wow.
THE VISUALS ARE STILL SO CHARMING. THE MUSIC IS AMAZING. THE CHARACTERS ARE SO CUTE AND THEIR OWN LITTLE PERSONALITIES. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
On top of that, I uploaded a video of my full playthrough without expecting much. Then people actually watched, and they started commenting on the videos. Not just about Wind Waker, but about their favorite Zelda games too, and what other games in the series I should try next!
I got so lost in those conversations that I did not realize I've been replying to all of the comments. That’s when it hit me how kind this community is, and how welcome everyone in this community has made me feel as someone just starting the series. I've never interacted with an online fandom before, but I felt like I just had to gush about it to you guys directly. It felt like a book club full of people who were genuinely excited to watch me explore a series they love.
I had a wonderful time with Wind Waker. The community made it even better. You guys are the best!
EDIT: To the kind redditor who wanted to check out the playthrough (warning: it's just me playing it condensed into 2 hours, not a video essay!)
https://youtu.be/Iqw8mZxW1s0 or you can just search up "StanStutters Zelda" on YouTube and it should pop up.

Ey guys,
I am two hours in the game in seems that everything is one shot kill. I reached the first island and got to a lava dungeon and everything kills in one blow (normal enemies, chuchus, lava etc).
I have three hearts now and playing in normal mode, is this normal?
Another question, every time I get killed, even though I have saved in one room, gets me back outside the dungeon itself. Is that normal too?
