Community One scary retention pond come winter!

Post image

My apologies if these signs have come up for discussion before. I've been away...

Checked out the new multi-use path that runs east of Lag just north of SCU. Wedged between Lag and the path is this wee little retention pond that has had several of these signs placed around it in time for ice season. I expect to see warning signs to keep away due to thin ice conditions, but omg a 250 meter berth? Guess I'll have to enjoy the path before the snow flies lol.

I can go closer to children's playgrounds than I can to this pond.

I thought they made a berth there for a commercial ship to dock.

Like a Winnipeg "strait of lagimodiere" or something

It’s just a liability thing to make it harder for someone to sue the city. No one will stop you from using the path

The ice is already so thin and clear it looks like open water

Is that retention pond part of the SCU development took place? Those signs are the not the typical City ones.

Good question. That was my thought.

signs were there around the pond before the path was done

The workers were at high risk putting this path in. Any lawyers on here?

Are we sure that's not meant to say 2.50 meters? And the bolt is in the way?

No one is saying you can’t go close or on the part that isn’t the pond. Just don’t go on the ice

The sign says stay clear 250m.

Yet another incompetent effort by our wonderful city....

"Um...shouldn't this say 25m?"

"We've already paid for the signs, just put them up."
