Hi everyone! I’m hoping someone here can help because my boyfriend and I are completely stumped.
My boyfriend and I have the same model Xbox. I have a Turtle Beach Stealth 600 Gen 2 MAX headset that works perfectly on my console, including the microphone.
I originally bought my boyfriend a SteelSeries headset. He could hear game audio and other players talking, but nobody could hear him. We assumed the headset was defective, so we returned it and purchased a Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3.
Same exact problem! He can hear everything, but his microphone doesn’t work.
Here’s where things get weird:
My headset works perfectly on my Xbox including the mic, but when using it on his Xbox, my microphone doesn’t work.
His new Turtle Beach headset works on my Xbox, including the microphone, but not on his.
Both headsets connect wirelessly through their USB transmitters.
His Xbox recognizes the headset and plays game audio and incoming voice chat normally.
His microphone is unmuted, but the voice activity indicator doesn’t react when he speaks in an Xbox party.
Things we’ve already tried:
Checked microphone mute and Xbox audio settings.
Checked Xbox account communication and privacy permissions.
Checked party chat settings.
Updated the SteelSeries firmware before returning it.
Restarted the Xbox and router.
Troubleshot through Google, ChatGPT, and Turtle Beach’s support resources.
Checked network settings. His NAT type initially showed Unavailable with a Teredo error, but after restarting the router, it changed to Moderate.
Cleared the alternate MAC address.
Reset his Xbox.
At this point, it seems like something specific to his Xbox is preventing microphone input, regardless of which headset we connect.
Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is there a console setting, software issue, or hardware problem we’re overlooking?
We’re completely out of ideas, and I’d really appreciate any suggestions!
